I went from Pepto to Paxil watching this team. Go Zips!
-
Hopefully we settle down, cut out the mental mistakes, feed 27 the ball and let someone else be the team that shoot’s themselves in the foot.

I can’t recall being so worked up while in the lead at halftime. I also can’t recall being in the lead at halftime.

Why take a time out and leave 26 seconds on the clock?

This series is why Akron is 1-3 and Buff is 0-4. No discipline.

Bullock was throwing on the sideline

100%. A lot was made of Coach Prime’s 86 transfers but the Oregon game showed how hard it is to get big, quality linemen as well especially in a short timeframe

I hope you are right but teams that can't win these types of games in non-conference seem to fail to win them in conference play as well. The missed field goals, stupid penalties, dropped passes, interceptions, blown coverages, etc. probably won't stop just because it is MAC play. That being said, they are doing some things to build on so hopefully we can right the ship and take care of business against Buff. Starting 1-0 in conference play would cure a lot of ills at least for the short term.

Of all games for the sound system to work. Worst first game as an announcer ever. The color guy from Major League would be an upgrade. Lastly, get the guy a spotter. He called out the wrong player and/or jersey number 40 times?
-
I’m sure Charlie Frye would look at 7 MAC teams projected in bowl games and wonder why it wasn’t like this when he played.
-
I think if the Zips beat Temple and stay relatively healthy, we’re going Bowling and have a chance to make a run at our best DI season ever. As for a prediction made in August, I will go right down the middle at 6-6.

Best of luck to her. I figured she would be back in the game soon.

So you can take the boy out of EMU and the EMU out of the boy?

If you thought PFF's prediction was bad, see below. ESPN Computer Predicts College Football's 5 Worst Teams ESPN's computer model, the Football Power Index, has predicted the country's five worst teams as we head into the 2023 regular season. Here they are, in order from worst to least worst: 1. UMass 2. New Mexico State 3. Florida International 4. Akron 5. UL Monroe (No matter how hard we try, we can't escape Bowden Ball) According to ESPN's Football Power Index, these are the five worst teams in the country heading into the 2023 regular season. We are in straight-up Rodney Dangerfield territory here. No respect, I tell ya!

When I turned on the Clippers game to check on X, I did not realize two things: 1. Jason Preston is on the Clips, 2. After missing most of his young professional career to injury, the Clips clearly want to take a good long look at him to see what they have. Preston has been on the floor all night and no sign of X (other than buried on the bench) after 3 quarters. Hoping for some garbage time to justify watching summer league ball.

I am just so thankful that the NBA lets the college players with remaining eligibility come in for evaluations and gives them a pre-draft estimate of where they will be drafted (or not likely to be drafted). There was nothing worse than when a kid would leave early to declare for the draft and go undrafted. Even better, Freeman is coming back and not heading to a bigger program for one year. RayJ to Baylor comes to mind... I cannot wait to get back to the JAR for this team.

The 3 to close out a 20-point win over Cant in the MACC is still pretty sweet but it says a lot that about his season at Butler that to fill a 59 second highlight film they had to go to his Zips footage. As to the pro/con debate on his return.... In Groce I trust. It has been one hell of an off season. Groce has used the Transfer Portal in a couple of weeks to more success than Arth did in 2 seasons.

Agreed. Garvin always played hard and never let up on defense, but he would have been near the end of the bench if he stayed. This is a good move for him, especially if he adds a mid-range jumper in the off season. I always appreciated his hustle, and he had his best game in the home win last season against Cant. Best wishes to him.

Players who transferred from last year, Where are they now?
Zip JD replied to 1981 grad's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Utah Valley seems to be the place. Too bad Mad Dog left. -
He stepped up big during the end of the season just like Hunter did for us and he did it without anything close to Freeman or X on the court with him. He could make a monster jump into his sophmore season. Seeing Mr. Pinky bring in Sincere a few years ago and now this is not how I like spending the off season.

I love Freeman but how many 6’7” low post players can you name in the NBA? Danny Fortson is the last one I can remember. Freeman is a tremendous talent but his lack of NBA size makes me think that pre-draft he grades out as an undrafted free agent and returns to the Zips. Zeke was a legitimate seven footer who did not get any looks from the NBA at draft time. At 6’7” Freeman needs small forward skills to go to the show. He will be a beast oversees when his time at Akron is done. if Freeman does leave, I hope I am wrong and he makes it. However, I remember reading how several members of ZNO thought LCJ was heading to the show as well. You can’t coach speed or height.
