They even run students out of the Zips side upper deck at football games. It does not encourage attendance.

or at least call off the few remaining old guard ushers that chase students out of completely empty upper blue seat sections during the weeknight games. They act like they get a bounty for every student they toss.

Groce said in the postgame that Trib’s T was for talking trash to BG. He said he heard the whole interaction and that if that was a T, there should have been 15 prior T’s on each team. He added that the BG players were yelling at the Zips bench all night so he thought it was an interesting time to call a T (3:30 left in the game). I will add that even by MAC standards the officiating last night was atrocious. Way too many missed calls and way too many touch fouls. Throw in a couple make up calls to round it out with 5 or 6 trips to the video. Worst officials of the year.

Trib did bury two 3's in the first half of the NIU game so who knows?

Spot on as usual Clark; however, I do not anticipate anyone three or four years from now lamenting not having guards playing at the level of Thorn or Scott. We did get spoiled. Hopefully, our PG’s settle in and Dawson and Nate get the confidence and/or consistency we need to make some noise in the MAC Tourney. I will miss Tribble’s hustle, drive and toughness. Just not the Olympic style shot-put jumper.

I agree 100%. First a power 5 team gets nothing out of coming to the JAR. If they win the rest of the sports world thinks they should have and if they lose it hurts them. Also, there is no way we can close to making it worth their while financially. As to the OOC schedule, it was a nice mix of good to very good comp with practice games sprinkled in. Even thought we came up short, I loved the showcase in Cleveland. It’s great to see some new content for newer members like csims. Keep it up.

I disagree 100% with this take in regards to Groce over coaching. The prior seasons under Groce the Zips have had excellent veteran guard play and in crunch time, Coach let them run the offense usually without taking a time out. He knew they would make the right decisions and either take the game winning shot or get the ball to an open teammate. This year the Zips backcourt is mostly brand-new players that have not played well and have not shown any ability to create their own shot or a shot for others hence the timeouts to set up the right play. Unfortunately, the Zips didn't execute out of the timeouts against the Bonnies. Several times this year, they have. See the wins over SDSU, Southern Miss and Bradley. They also have some tough losses as well. It is going to be a season of growth. You may not be aware that Ali Ali had to sit out the first 8 games this year waiting for the NCAA to approve a transfer request that had been in for months which has further hindered the Zips cohesiveness on the court. Enrique dislocated his thumb in the second half which is why the play was probably not drawn up for him giving even more need for a TO.

I agree 100% with the talent being there but he has way too many games where he is a non-factor in every phase of the game. After the SDSU game I thought we found the missing piece. I hope we do before we head back to Cleveland.

It has to be Nate. Dawson has been totally absent.

The lack of boxing out is concerning especially for Hunter. He is the biggest perimeter player in college basketball. Zips loss aside, it was a great event with 3 great match ups. It seemed like the big arena really threw off the shooting for all the teams. The Bucks were at 13% from 3 at the half and I believe both them and WVU were well under 40% from the field at the half.

I should have mentioned that with the attempts to get him minutes at the point last year behind X, I really thought Tavari would be a factor. I wasn't expecting huge stats, but I thought he would be someone that could come in an make some open 3's when called upon. That ship appears to have sailed.

They play hard and appear to be giving their best effort, but neither provides any threat of offense. Other teams lay off of them and neither has shown they can regularly hit an outside shot consistently. We got spoiled watching X and LCJ these past years, but as of this post there is not PG on this team even close to being a regular offensive contributor.

So much better than Quick Change. Past halftime shows should get their own thread.

Touche. You have won this round Reslife but much like mediocre officiating at the JAR, I will be back.
-
I hope so. They were down last year as well. Also, no Taylor Made or Summa ball toss, no $10K putt at halftime, no Tim Miller sponsored 3 Pointers (that has been gone for a while), no Gionino's T shirt toss, no strong sponsorship presence at all.
-
I hope so. Faded, torn blue carpet is not the way to go. I know money is lacking especially in the era of NIL, but the JAR is a dump.

....and a big "W" in Cleveland in a few days to close out the Christmas season. Merry belated Christmas to all.

Huggins and Wyatt Webb are down as well (I'm talking about the 4 large banners that used to be in the corners of the JAR not the ones in the rafters). Also, all of the photos of Zips Athletics Hall of Fame by the exit are gone, all of them. Instead, they put up a TV that usually shows one photo of the football team and one of Enrique. It has a real "I'm only concerned with the future and what I build not the past" vibe to it.
-
I think so. He seldom gets mentioned and I think a lot of Zips fans do not realize how great he was or even that he was. Also, the way our AD is taking down banners of past coaches and all the Zips HOF photos in the JAR who knows how long any of those banners have.

The Cricket was the most underrated Zip of all time. He had the best handles I have ever seen in the JAR and when they played those great Cleveland State teams, he gave Mouse all he could handle. I'm glad you brought him up in this thread. He was the purest PG I ever saw in the blue and gold.

That may be true, but they still looked sweet.

Next man up in full effect. Nice win for Ohio. I hate OU but I love the black uniforms.

The tater tot has been fired after going 2-10 in year 3. We need Coach Joe to get a QB and avoid being added to the unemployment list.

He would probably be a serious upgrade over the usual suspects.
