Yeah...I do. Quit it. Who thought this was going to something easy with all that happened and what/who is left. C’mon dre you are smarter than that. Bashing Groce after less than half a season?
-
Yeah but....Victor is a former Zip and Victor does play in the pros and this is not Jared's webpage nor the team's it is ours. How does it disrespect the staff if we list him as a former Zip playing in the pros? Maybe in the official Media Guide is the place to worry about that stuff, but here? We don't need to be...nor are we ever....politically correct.

The 2018 Spring Football Game was announced to be on Saturday the 21st of April at High Noon. Football again in a little over 100 days! Hope Springs Eternal!!

Kind of a low key affair this past weekend, T & F held their first Open Meet to coincide with the Annual Pole Vault Convention, but some nice results. On the women's side Dara Perry had a nice 60 dash, and it looks like having Olympian Bridget Franek on the staff is paying off in the distances, with Haley Hess winning the mile, Ashley Murray taking the 3,000 and freshman Lean Recker winning the 800. Multis talent Jackie Siefring got some workout in the individual events and won the long jump, and Olivia Snyder took the win in the shot put. Lucy Bryan is a real class vaulter and placed 3rd in the Elite group. Taron Slone took the 200 on the men's side, while Garret Crichlow won the mile, Freshman Marc Migliozzi won the 3k and Preston Fillman took home a double with wins in the 60 Hurdles and the Long Jump. NCAA finalist Curtis Richardson got the season off with a nice win in the high jump and NCAA champ Matt Ludwing won the Elite PV in a jump off against former Zip and World Champion Shawn Barber. One of the Zips Football team members OL Nick Fazio threw int he weights, but no sign of Jovann Letuli or Kwadarrius Smith...too early to get them back in if they come at all.

Also, Jared has, in the past, held off even in February, until he was sure on some of his foreign recruits, to announce them all at the same time.

Really??!! Someone said they saw a 3 floyds at Ray’s in Kent a while ago when I told them about it. Wow! I am psyched now...maybe they’ll have zips toledo on tomorrow evening....thanks Doc

Thanks ZippyRulz I visited my nephew and his wife in Munster IN over the weekend and he took me to a local brewery called 3 Floyds and I had an Arctic Panzer Wolf Pilsner that was freakin' awesome, plus high % content and I got buzzed on just 2!

2018 MLS Combine / Draft
ZipsVoice replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Although I hate it, I too am still proud of the Zippies that have taken advantage of this in the past and now and will also support the heck out of them. Can't blame them at all. I had told a friend (yes fknbuflobo I DO have some!) that why Akron was so good this season was they didn't lose a lot to the MLS or pros like in the past. I mean we lost Jonathan like ME said, but we didn't lose 5 or 6 in the same season GA or Hometown. ME's right, this is why it's tough to stay in the elite top 10 season after season, re-loading is tough to do when you don't see it coming. -
Amen....

SON OF A .....!!! I hate this!!! -
The game is on CBSSports network, correct?
-
Thank you, my son, it IS a great and humbling honor....and I second the nomination!
-
Me too. I picked 15 wins in the pre-season poll/survey here on ZnO. And while I hate losing as much as most, I am still enjoying watching these guys play. Yeah, there are times I've thrown my tuna-fish sandwich at the TV, and been asked to leave my abode by She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed, but then I remind myself of just what kreed said above....still having fun.

Congrats to Coach Herlihy

Don't know yet....my guess is no, since Noreen has not scheduled games in the Spring since she arrived. Can't say for sure, but all indications are a big fat NO. -
Didn't know if my fellow Zip soccer buddies caught this earlier, but Noreen got a nice honor from Slippery Rock. Still think she's got a great handle on the program and this coming season should show the results of installing her system ad bringing in her style of players. Anyway, Great Honor Coach! http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/12/11/womens-soccer-head-coach-noreen-herlihy-inducted-into-the-slippery-rock-athletics-hall-of-fame.aspx?path=wsoc

The Zips were picked to sweep the Mens and Womens titles in indoor Track and Field, and if you want to see something kinda cool this weekend, Saturday is the Pole Vault Convention, the 6th since its inception, and of course Akron has produced a world champion, a few NCAA champions, and many National team vaulters from Germany, England and the U.S. The Elite competition is Saturday night at 7, and then on Sunday there is a full collegiate indoor meet to kick off the home season, starting at 3 pm. Too early for great performances, but lots to showcase for the season.

MAC Championship—Rockets vs Zips @ Ford Field
ZipsVoice replied to LZIp's topic in Akron Zips Football
Wow...was that amazing to watch. The Rockets, like the commentators referred to, did not look like they wanted to be there. Appy did. Impressive shutdown of Woodside. So, which is more embarrassing, a team picked 4th in the MAC East, who got drilled in their Championship game, losing big to FAU, or a vaunted MAC Champion, 11-2, getting drilled 34-0 against a team that just came up to FBS 5 seasons ago? Not maligning Toledo, they were/are a very good team, but this may have been more embarrassing than losing badly when you came in 22+ point underdogs to begin with? At least we scored.... -
I knew there was a reason I liked you....

So this young man, and I mean young, is pretty gifted. Doesn’t play HS soccer, just for Internationals. Kinda shortish, but skilled on and off the ball. Is very intelligent, seems quick. Probably a left-side fullback....fits Zips style. Bulldogs probably would love to have him....but the verbal commit probably will nix any chances...
