  1. HEY! This was my idea, not yours ...why do you keep injecting new parameters to the mix....?????
  2. Thanks for sharing that...wow. I know we've got a few weeks left, but I actually can't wait to see Kwads back in indoor track season, he's just a great kid!
  3. By Elton Alexander, The Plain Dealer AKRON, Ohio -- For Kato Nelson, his performance in leading the Akron Zips to first place in the Mid-American Conference East Division in just his second start Tuesday was as obvious on the field as it was watching from the stands. WTF Elton?
  4. How 'bout coming to the game??????????????
  5. And I think a week's prep work with KN
  6. That one was really weird....I thought it was a trick play on our part...but it wasn't. How does 5 down linemen, a running back and 1 WR not move unless they believed it was encrouchment? That was a horrible non-call at a crucial time!
  7. This shouldn't even be a decision. I take it soemwhere you saw or heard it was over? There is no way in hell I'd let TW start, and even if it is Senior Night, if he comes and participates with his family - fine. But Kato should start, and the players I think would back that. I know nothing about how any of the players feel about this, or how they feel about Kato, but boy, that would take a lot of air out pof my sails to see TW as the starter vs. KSU.
  8. Not a whole helluva lot I can add to all the other great commentary here and on the Three for Thursday thread.....but just a few items. I am the KING of the board on complaining about penalties, so I had a field day last night....even if half of them weren't "really" penalties. 175 yards in penalties! Yet we won. I did post on 3For that I thought we'd win, and the reason I picked was because we'd have a week to get the game plan in place for Kato. But the way we won was unexpected to me. Come from behind? The Zips? Don't give it away in the end? The Zips? But we won. The Defense was stellar, against the run. But the Interference calls were mostly legit, and I, like many, was holding my breath on that final OU pass that it wasn't going to be called yet again. When I got to the stadium and saw that Woodson wasn't even listed as the #2 QB I felt good, but after OU's first two plays I felt horrible. And Stolich pulled out all the trick plays rather than Bowden, and most all of them worked. But we won. The OU fans that were there last night, especially on the roads leading to the stadium and in the parking lots were total Buttheads. I almost had a little road rage incident with one who was following their team buses and felt he should be part of the police escorted caravan! But the fine Campus Police force set the gentleman straight. Talking to some of the athletes from other sports at The U on my way in and most all of them know what Tommy did to get suspended, and I won't post it because it's second hand knowledge. But it's all over campus, and I can't see anyway Williams will let this one go. He's not going to get the Josh Gordon umpteen chances. Suffice it to say it wasn't his first go around on this one. I also, despite lucking out and picking this one right, also have a little crow to eat with my friends on the board - because of Kato. I was very low on Kato, and said so from the Spring game on. Good for you young man, you really proved me wrong last night, and I don't think it was a fluke. And the offensive line, or the play calling, or the defense they played against...I don't know...but we ran the ball and there seemed to be some decent holes open for them. Don't agree that we stopped running in the second half. Didn't see that. And as far as our illustrious supposed-journalists from Akron and Cleveland, I was walking in behind them last night and they were both grousing already about how late it was going to be , how UA was gonna get steamrolled, laughing about the size of the crowd and what would be announced as the attendance....all kinds of crap like that, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did write their reports from a couch, except they were actually there. I normally am in a hurry to get to the car after a weeknight game and get the heck home, but last night I surprised myself as to wanting to kinda hang around. I stayed and stood in the gauntlet with family and friends as the team and coached crossed from the stadium to the fieldhouse, enjoyed the looks on the kids faces and the parents too! Pride. Then got caught in the band marching out of the stadium, but instead of being impatient and annoyed, I actually stopped and enjoyed it. Heck, what's the difference between 11:30 and 11:45 getting home. Can't remember feeling that way since...well in a long time. Fun. We won. But we won. Still sinking in. I guess I had more than a few things to add! Sorry!
  9. Didn’t he get forced into the role because Coney went down early?
  10. Actually spelled Pappi...thought it was like “my Mommy and my Pappy”!
  11. I think you are right.
  12. THANK YOU! I was wondering the same thing....
  13. Woodson not on depth chart for tonite...
  14. Well, I'd tell you to keep an eye out for me on the broadcast, but as crowded as the stands will be you'll probably not be able to find me....
  15. You're exactly right in my case...I know we don't stand a chance in Hades based on fact, but my emotion tells me this is the day! I know I'm going to be disappointed, but it's the only way I can come to Info tonight without turning around in the parking garage and going back home...

  19. Who's up for a little fun? You've heard of March Madness....well let's do a November Numbness. The bracket is out and everyone can get their hands on one. http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/soccer-men/d1 Let's have a little contest for bragging rights on ZipsNation as the Chief Poobah Of Prognostications for the College Cup. Between now and noon on Thursday, post your "winners" for the first 16 matches on Thursday, then the 16 winners on Sunday, based on the matches using the teams you picked as winners from Thursday vs. the top 16 teams. After week 1 we'll re-group and pick the next two rounds. I will volunteer to keep score, but of course we can all keep track based on the brackets posted. I'm gonna start a new thread called November Numbness, for everyone to put their picks. Hopefully we'll get a few ZN.O members to play along. Strictly a game of chance, no funds to be exchanged....except being able to use the Chief Poobah moniker for a whole year! What do you think? Are you with me Boys?
  20. I agree with you Cap'n..
  21. And also since the start of the season!
  22. I've been disappointed a lot this year, and I am due to be surprised. I think this might be the week. I know, I'm crazy....I have nothing to go on here, but I have a feeling that Thomas will still be on the bench and Kato will be under center, or behind center. I think with a week's prep work, and a game plan around the personnel we have and don't have available, this is the week that I get surprised. I'm thinking they outpass us yardage-wise based on more short passes for Kato and more option runs for the backfield. I think Ouellette runs for over 100 but not over 120, because we might just get an early lead and force them to throw..... I believe that we can win!
  23. I am very happy with a 5 seed. Don't know about the chance to lay teams we already beat, as MarkS mentions above....We handled both pretty well here, so maybe not a bad deal. Plus - finally the MAC gets two teams! I stand corrected on my worries that the Committee would screw us and the MAC over again. They did a very thoughtful and well laid out bracket. And listening to the chair of the committee, he seems to know the sport and the environment way better than past Committee chairs. Maybe the NCAA is finally getting away from Administrators and college prezes to do the selections!
  24. Wanna meet at The Ido for a burger, then go over to the JAR at 12:30 for the selection show?

Can’t.  Work.  But I love burgers at Ido.  Ain’t been there in a spell.  I shall surely be watching the selection show (on the down low).

Table the Ido idea as well.

We’ll do it before the season is over, promise.

  25. Maybe they'll have some of these there!
