  1. I think the MAC refs for B-ball are bad sometimes, good sometimes and that's the problem. Consistency is all you ask, whether it is game to game or half to half. And it is not there. Heck, sometimes not consistent in the same 10 minute frame.
  2. More Track and field....since men and women B-ball were on the road, went to the Akron Invitational, and although it was probably the weakest field in years (SPIRE in Geneva OH has a DI invite the following week that has diluted Akron's draw) it was still fun. Clayton Murphy introduced before the meet, and world record holder woman pole vaulter was there. Terrell McClain was banged up and didn't compete, but Jordan Latimore took the Long Jump with an equally solid jump. Natalie Zidd won 800 for second straight year, and Daziah Green impressed with double wins in 60 and 200 dashes. Coach Mitchell has his female Shawn Barber now, Lucy Bryan, a freshman from England, who is a physical specimen, and that's not a sexial comment. Men and women still need distance runners though. Anyway, thought I'd share....
  3. I got to see Petno play a few times last Fall as well as his junior year. He really filled out his frame in 2016 and is both quick and strong. Can muscle up if game gets physical....
  4. Last season it was the lack of info on Ball's injury that drove me crazy! And the same with Woody vs. Kent like LZip said above....
  5. Hey guys and gals, i don't get deep in all the high school backgrounds, was wondering if some of you that know this stuff waaay better than me can give your opinions on which of the new Zips will make the biggest impact on the team the quickest? Are any of them first year starters, or next-in-liners, or are most of them looking at getting their feet wet in 2017. Just askn'...
  6. Got it guys, I understand. Just sitting here in my hotel room in Virginia watching EPL lead up to liverpool v. Chelsea, so you don't have to tell me about the growing love of "football" here. Can't disagree either with national signing day, for both sexes. Last few years have been awful tough to get names and numbers, and they were usually found on Top Drawer or NSCCA websites. Maybe a reflection on Larry Williams' emphasis on more football coverage? Don't know...
  7. Paul was good, but the staff of GAs was also deep. Sean Palchik is very good at what he does, but the SID group is very thin in both talent and numbers as far as GAs go, and Sean is up to his eyebrows with the sports in-season. Paul had two sports to cover...mens soccer and track and field, Sean does mens soccer, womens basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field, cross country, and is second chair on football. Add to that at least one vacancy in the GA ranks and it's easy to see why there is less mens soccer coverage off season. Just sayin'...
  8. Thanks, will definitely.
  9. 2017 looks bright for the men and women runners, jumpers and throwers. Both teams smash Kent State in annual dual meet while the basketball team was beating Eastern Michigan. Score would have been worse if the scoring sustem wasn't skewed, only 2 scores per each team per event. 10 firsts by the men's team, 9 firsts for women's team. Terrell McClain breaks school record in long jump. Both men and women strong as usual in pole vault. Ariadna Rams Gandia a beast in women long jump and triple jump. Still need some good weight throwers, both guys and gals. Two sophomore men high jumpers that are the two best in the MAC by far. A few off-shore recruits this year. Need a replacement for Clayton Murphy mid-distance, but Jackie Seifring a multi-wonner and will be the multi champ indoor and out. Big meet on February 2 and 3 - Akron Invitational, lots of top notch competition. Great place to watch track too.
  10. No...but I'll match your C note to any takers....
  11. I can't think of one NCAA selection commitee in any sport that is not either consciously or subconciously biased towards the big $$ schools, let alone the BCS selection committee. Just look at D1 basketball, soccer mens and womens, hockey and yes football. The number of teams from the P5 leagues are outrageous and the seeding is even worse. At least with track and field and swimming it's totally objective - be the fastest and you go. I've had an opportunity to be around some of the NCAA bigwigs and committee people and they are so sanctimonious and cloistered in their big conference mentality. One of the highlights of this year was going to the NCAA rifle championship banquet and watching the NCAA bigwigs squirm and tut-tut, listening to Bob Golic deliver his politically incorrect keynote speech!
  12. My first post on zipsnation.... i'm glad to read that there are some question marks about Milwee and TB. Thought I was the only one. As far as AD Mike, have heard he has voiced his concerns to TB and it is and was done in private, like Ham said above, it should be. Have also heard that Ball WILL be back. And I agree, if a change was coming we would have heard by now. Although lots of HC changes across the country and staffs change, so maybe AJ might see writing on wall and apply or network for a change....
