Dambrot says 'yes' to Duquesne this time
Blackburn replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Agree! They would be better off calling his "Bluff". I don't believe he will leave. And I don't think anyone thinks so. In this case, he is gone. DU has ALL of that. and will nearly DOUBLE his salary. Agree with all! Except $1M per year. He did this year, but that won't continue. DU will double his salary easy. If it doesn't work out, he will be smart enough to add enough years to his contract, and he will retire. He won't be hurt. 7 years there with 1.2M compared to 7 with 600K and a better budget to work with. -

DO NOT believe McFadden was a finalist. More of a formality to please YTown groups. A shake up is definitely needed. And IM sorry, but NO ONE on staff right now is a coach or HC material. NO ONE is involved with supporters like myself that wants to continue to donate $. Even as a guy on the business side, I see 0 personality/relationship and I can see the conflict of relating to the players during the games. And all we talk about and complain about is raising $$$ for an arena upgrade. Like I have said many times, KD needs help. Love he has stayed here this long and wish many more. But DU is planning 40M in arena upgrades to one that is just as nice as the JAR already, if not better. Probably over 1M per year. Closer to son... yada yada yada. Is UA willing to poor more $ to keep KD? There goes $ that we all should be going to area makeovers or whatever. -

Not accurate. -
Jayvon gets to the hole at the same level that Josh got to the rack too. Looks a lot better and more effortless against Hoban than Kent St. Wait and see on Jayvon before the comparison begins. They play the same way in HS, while Josh was a better shooter. Slashing, they were the same. Above the rim, Jayvon.

Doesn't mean he is leaving -
Makes 0 sense. Josh "turned" into a one-trick pony? Meaning he WAS a slashing guard....? And Jayvon is a slashing guard?
-
Clearly not aware of the relationship now it seems...

He was going to go to Toledo. Buffalo and I believe Fordham (could have wrong east coast school) was his 2nd and 3rd choice from what I am told.
-
You are right on...
-
FYI, Graves was going to Toledo. Ended up going to Buffalo. Akron was in the top 5 from what I hear. Also heard that Badley didn't want to stay around Akron. Don't know the reason, he just wanted to go away.

And no one will mention that any of these guys would have been POY if it weren't for KD's system. It favors Big Men. Everything is inside out with his sets. If we are at the top of the MAC, our Big Man will be the one that gets POY. Travis, Wood, Zeke, Big Dog... none would have had the recognition they had if it wasn't for KD. End of Story. With that said, they were great finds for his system.

Texas wouldn't be in the top half of the MAC. Akron isn't with it, from top to bottom. The picture showing the bench a minute ago with the staff laughing says it all. -

That is good news he doesn't know where to look. -
Akron wasn't even 2nd in the running for Jayvon from what I hear.

2017 National Invitation Tournament (NIT)
Blackburn replied to GJGood's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Not negative... just that Houston WAS uninspired. Both teams were until games end. Obvious to the eye. Was a NBA All-Star defensive performance for 3/4 of the game. It is what it is. Glad we pulled out on top! -

Look at GW for ideas to renovate the JAR... Very similar. Kind of like Pitts "idea" with the box seats on the floor. -
I think it had more to do with how they did the seeding... wasn't that also changed?
-
No. In my eyes, the double bye was not beneficial. Teams struggled their first game at the Q while the lesser seeds already had a game under their belt on the Q floor. Maybe if the games at the Q didn't start till after the double bye, but the MAC wouldn't do that.

Against NO defense... How many direct line drives were unchallenged at the rim? They didn't have to work for anything. With no defense in the gym, should be more like 60%. -

Don't agree. Houston was obviously uninspired... as were we. Look at our D for 35min. Both teams started to pick it up when they saw the finish line. If Kwam played average in both of the past 2 MAC Championship games, then we win. But that is in the past. What-ifs are getting old. Our guys thought they could walk out and win vs Kent. They were in the wrong mindset. But that is in the past... on to BYU! ... I think....
