100%. Most of last year’s secondary starters didn’t see the field much this year. The ones that did were underwhelming with the exception of Amankwaa. He came on strong at CB and then decided to redshirt and hit the portal after his 4th game.

Reports of Tennessee OC Alex Golesh taking the HC position at USF and Coastal Carolina HC Jamey Chadwell taking over at Liberty. Ah dang, wrong thread. -

Thanks. Just made him a Rivals profile. Sounds like he mostly played JV this year, so will have to wait on Varsity film. -
I think the defense took a big enough step forward for all coaches to be safe. We were severely hampered at CB this year. I’d like to see how this defense looks with a stronger group of players there. Pass rush also needs to be addressed. However, going from allowing 278.1 YPG rushing in conference play in 2021 to 138.1 in 2022 is impressive.

JUCO CB Trenton Yowe. 21 offers so far, but we’re still in his Top 10.

Can’t say I’m surprised. Plenty of physical ability, but it didn’t translate to production. He often seemed lost on the field this year. Hope he catches on somewhere. -

Going by conference stats, nothing statistically backs up JU being the better option. Overall yards probably isn’t a fair metric, but JU has an alarmingly high interception rate compared to his passing attempts. The run game looked better with JU, which is ironic, and the defense certainly played better (although I doubt that had anything to do with JU). There are also some throws that JU physically cannot make that DJI can. Who’s a better leader is debatable. GP: DJI = 6 JU = 5 Completion % DJI = 69.1% - 161 for 233 JU = 60.4% - 58 for 96 Yards DJI = 1686 JU = 704 Average Yards Per Game DJI = 281.0 JU = 140.8 Efficiency DJI = 134.6 JU = 128.8 TDs DJI = 7 JU = 5 INTs DJI = 6 JU = 5

Agreed. Out of all the lines I thought Zips 2.5 was the easiest one. Turns out it was the only one I was wrong on. I expect next years line will be similar, which really will make it an easy one.

So much can happen between now and the start of 2023, but I think it’s still DJI’s job to lose. JoeMo said himself that DJI played as well as any first year QB in his system. JU is an adequate backup and can fill in when needed. In today’s game, it’s important to have a functional backup and JU provides that. I expect JoeMo to bring one more QB in from the portal to really up the competition level at the position. Wasel seems to have the makeup to come in and push for playing time, but it will be difficult to immediately beat out DJI and JU who gained valuable experience this year.

Below are the conference only stats for 2022 vs 2021. There were some major improvements in some areas and still work to be done in others. I believe they can sign any time during the transfer portal window. The first one opens Monday and lasts 45 days. We’re going to get alot better in the next month.
-
Disappointing way to lose, but the future is insanely bright. Hope the rest of the MAC enjoyed their wins this year. Won’t be the same story in 2023 with another influx of talent.
-
Same play ran twice. Corners made the same mistakes twice.
-
Defense was confused on that first play call. Both Lewis and Boateng
-
Sack on a 3 man rush. How about that?
-
I see why Terry transferred. Those two LBs for Buffalo are impressive. As are the starting DTs. Solid defensively overall, but that offense is rough. Frustrating we even gave up a touchdown to this point.
-
Punting, kickoffs, and FGs have been underwhelming today.
-
Yep. Sooner or later when need to pick one of those lazy thrown balls.
-
Insane catch by the Buffalo WR. Buffalo QB has gotten away with several balls with too much air under them. Need to take advantage of that before this thing ends.
-
Great cut by Price. Doesn’t have that break away speed, but excellent vision and sticks to his blockers.
-
I have them muted. Why are they talking about DJI when we are dominating this game?
