I will say it does feel a bit deeper this year outside of the 3 Michigans and maybe Buffalo. Miami and Bowling Green look a tad better. Meanwhile you still have regulars in Akron, KSU, Ohio, Toledo, and Ball State. Maybe I’m just optimistic but it doesn’t feel like a 3 team race like last year

I see it differently. The more Kent wins the more satisfying it is when we beat them. “The bigger they are the harder they fall” type. It’ll be a great look for the MAC if the top teams dominate in this challenge

Ohio did make it out with the win but just like the post above they have some flaws. The heavy full court defense lead to nearly all of the starters having 4-5 fouls. With at least one getting fouled out. Curious to see how they develop

Captialism ruins all. Enjoy it while it lasts. This Akron team on paper could win the whole NIT. Honestly they could still make it if they are high enough in the NET rankings but most years we’d have no shot. A mid major title will still be cool but not the same as the Cinderella stories

Ohio is dominating Troy. 43–28. Ohio isn’t even shooting that great but they are smothering Troy and scoring off of turnovers

Tonight begins the Battle for the Belt. The new challenge put in place by the Sun belt and MAC. We need to root for all the MAC teams (even the thunder bolts) to help boost the MAC in the March Madness and CBI rankings. Troy vs Ohio tonight and KSU tomorrow. We have a thread for us and the rest are Saturday. Fly the flag🏴‍☠️

That would honestly be an amazing draw. Not even the face MSU just lost but because its the shortest drive for us to a neutral March Madness site outside of Cleveland

Promote the crap out of this game! This isn't Point Park this is a legitimate AQ contender coming into Akron on Friday. Trying to get a group together to go with the students at my work. We will see how that turns out!

SDSU has only lost 9 games at home in this coaches tenure. Make it 10. We didn’t even play that clean today and freeman was doubled the entire night. Still got it done. Love it

Bradley beat UAB today. They look to be a really tough opponent for us this year. Will need a big crowd

Ugly start for the lightning bolts. Seems like they cleaned it up tho. I’m rooting for the MAC in these non zips OOC games. Also rooting for the Ohio teams in other conferences like CSU, YSU and Dayton cause I like seeing local teams in March

Still new to NCAA soccer. What’s the playoff rules after regulation? We’ve had so many draws im curious how we will play and what the rules are

I get it! I’m not expecting to be a national powerhouse but more local school for the surrounding suburb school recruits that can constantly be a figure in the MAC and local meet against the other Midwest teams. We shall see what the new coaches do in the future years of recruiting.

The barstool carries the university in advertising. I might sound like a burner but I know the guy who runs it and he just wants to organize something that nobody else wants to attempt too for this game

Going to make a separate chat for this because Akron has been doing very well in Track and XC the last few years. With MAC titles in indoor outdoor track and now Cross Country (In the programs first year!). Men and women have had success as well. Brand new outdoor track for the spring. I am excited to see the future of the running program in Akron. I doubt they will get Clayton Murphy to endorse us again after XC being removed the first time but I feel it should be a top goal of Guthries tenure to keep the momentum going.

Pretty awesome win for the program. First year MAC champs with some top tier runners. I'm on the Akron Running Club and we have had some runners run individually to try and run against some great competition. Love to see running get bigger in Akron. Building something fun in Akron.

I am very nervous for this game. Long trip + new lineup makes me think it will be an ugly start. We just need to make our shots and play good complimentary basketball and hope for the best. Not excited for the 9pm start time on a tuesday though
