Zips1991

We have the first result of the tournament and it's from the Zips section of the bracket...Duke beats FDU 1-0 to advance to a matchup with Princeton.

The final (I assume?) Top Drawer poll of the season is out and Akron is not in it. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men I do not see a College Soccer News poll for this week.

I do think Akron will get a top 16 seed but it's gonna be close. And sometimes when it's close, they give it to a ACC or Big Ten team. So we'll see!

I think they likely will be, based on the fact that they're still #9 in RPI after the loss. The committee seems to stick pretty close with the RPI rankings.

I thought the exact same thing the second I saw that. I had to look twice to make sure I read it properly!

It's looking like a Zips win on Thursday may wrap up a top 16 seed. And as TennZip said, a tournament win will almost assuredly guarantee a top 8 seed. Keep it going, Zips!

Youngstown State also played Shenango last night. How many D1 teams are these guys playing? 😆

Akron up to #14 in the College Soccer News poll while remaining at #24 in the Top Drawer poll. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-mens-week-12-top-25-coaches-poll-maryland-claims-top-spot-nc-state-and-stanford-drop/ https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men

I won't be able to attend due to a work trip. So, if anyone would like a free general admission ticket, DM me and I'll get it to you.

Zips up to #9 in the RPI.

LETS GOOOOOOOOOO

Heck of a time for it!

That part is true!

We have a nice stadium compared to many schools but this Creighton stadium is next level. My goodness.

Zips at -11.5 on Draft Kings.

That's correct, I believe. I had initially thought it would be better for UConn to beat Seton Hall but then TennZip's post helped me realize it would be better for Seton Hall to win. A win and obviously the Zips are #2 seed. A draw and we'd make it with a Providence loss and a NON-draw between Seton Hall and UConn. A loss and there's still a chance to make it if Seton Hall and Georgetown both win...I think.

Awesome, thanks so much! One less game i need to pay attention to tonight. 😂

I saw on Facebook that they're offering BOGO tickets. Looks like it's in the reserved sections. About $21 for two tickets.

Does this imply that St John's can't qualify on a tiebreaker?

You know, I'd feel a lot better if this game was at home 😂 but I'm confident in the team to get it done!

I'm pretty sure they won't, unfortunately.

Looks like they're in mid-season form already. 😂

Akron up to #18 in the College Soccer News poll and are finally ranked again in the Top Drawer poll at #24. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-mens-week-11-top-25-coaches-poll-stanford-drops-while-vermont-maryland-and-virginia-stand-out-as-clear-top-3/ https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men

Zips are -7.5 according to Draft Kings for tomorrow's game, despite the ESPN matchup predictor only giving Akron a 56.8% chance to win.

Looking at the schedule for the final matchday, there's a fairly straightforward way for Akron to qualify in the top 4 with a draw on Friday. If Akron draws, Georgetown beats Providence, and the UConn-Seton Hall game DOESN'T end in a draw... Akron would get the #4 seed. There's probably other routes that include a tiebreaker but since the tiebreakers are a little unclear, that's the simplest way to qualify with a draw. But let's just win so we don't have to scoreboard watch 😁
