For some reason, I didn't realize that we could still play BG. I think we'd be fine but I'd still rather play Buffalo than BG. My order of preference is: Buffalo BG UMass
-
Yeah, really the best way to ensure we play CMU in the Quarterfinals would be if we lost to them tonight (although it still wouldn't be locked in). But obviously, that is not something I can wish to happen.
-
I've been messing around with the potential seeding and tiebreakers. I think the only way UMass can get eliminated tonight is if they lose to Ohio, Buffalo beats EMU, and we lose to CMU. I say let's get the first two done tonight, and let CMU win in their last game to finish the job. 😅

Lots of talk on the site about other topics, so I thought I'd try to move things back to today's game. CMU has been playing pretty well especially at home. What does everyone see as the keys to a Zips win tonight?
-
Yeah, I think Akron would be favored by 3-5 points on a neutral court right now.
-
I think that was a safe assumption before this. 😅
-
Too bad I didn't see those odds before the game. Not sure why CSU would be +1.5 (or even -1.5) when they were at home and had twice as many conference wins as IU-Indy.

Zips are favored by 12.5 with an O/U of 160.5

Yeah, there's no consistency or even an attempt to be consistent. That's the athletic department's fault, not Under Armour. Even with their social media, they use too many colors and fonts.

The place will be packed if those are the four teams in the semis!

Saying a team isn't better than you when they've beat you 11 straight times is crazy. 😂

Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans

A one year tenure would certainly be something. -
I don't really know the scoring system but I feel like they have it wrapped up. 🤣

I was curious of how the order would go if there's a three way tie but didn't bother to figure out the three-way tiebreaker. Thanks for posting. There's a very real chance they all finish 7-11, so according to the above post, we'd play UMass which I don't love. They appear to stink but they also seem to lose a lot of close games so maybe they're just unlucky?
-
If CMU loses today, they would be eliminated from MAC Tournament contention and the game would likely be much easier for us. However, they're currently up 8 with about 4 minutes left. UMass is losing too, which would create a three-way tie for 7th through 9th. Three teams for the final two spots.

I have zero confidence in WMU holding onto this lead but I hope I'm wrong!
-
The spread was 15.5 or 16.5 depending on when you got it, so we definitely went from covering to not covering with all of the turnovers at the end. It could appear suspicious if you look at it that way, but I think if you were fixing a game, you wouldn't wait until the end and depend on the other team pressing you.

I watched it tonight on ESPN+ for about an hour and it did appear like the crowd was having a great time.

Zips favored by 3.5 with a O/U of 164.5

Are you implying that one of the richest athletes in the country, who doesn't donate any money to his hometown college, doesn't care about the college? Hard to believe! 🤣

Speaking of Toledo, they seem to have a nice arena. But again, I've never been there. Looks nice on TV though.
-
The only MAC arena I've been to other than the JAR is Kent. Both are terrible. From what I can tell on TV, most of the arenas in the MAC are terrible other than BG (although I think it's too small). They all seem old or way too big. EDIT: This excludes UMass, as I forgot they are in the MAC and haven't seen it as much on TV to get a good look.

I forgot to mention it at the time and maybe just thought it wasn't important but it seems to fit in this thread. On a recent Board of Trustees meeting that I watched part of, Goodrich stated that this is the last year of our Nike deal and he hinted we would be signing with someone else. He said something along the lines of "Nike doesn't value us as much as we value ourselves". I would like to go back to Adidas but I'm thinking someone like Under Armour may be more likely. As they have fewer schools in their portfolio and we could be a higher priority.

Does signing with a MLS Next Pro team give him a better path to the MLS than signing with USL? I assume so but I know some Next Pro players are on contracts specific to that level while others are on MLS contracts and are there to get playing time.
