O.K. , here we go!!! At Miami tomorrow night. What are your thoughts today? 1.) Does KD start B. McKnight again?2.) Is Ced going to be able to give the same type of effort as vs BG?3.) Will KD continue to try to have C. McKnight play with his back to the basket?4.) Will we try too early in the game to start hoisiting up a lot of 3's? O.K. Let's hear it!!!

Final from Savage Hall: Toledo 54 OU 52. A little help.

Zippyforpresident: I agree with you from the standpoint that it would be good to have Bardo at center, and Linhart and Chris M. at the forwards. That way: Bardo is big enough to set solid screens for both of them along the side of the key. Also Dials at the 2, it will take some of the strain off of him. Now is the time of the season, especially when we consider that the Zips are banged up, to not be running long , hard practices. Whether KD is still doing this, I do not know. It would not hurt to sit Ced and Dials out of some practices, to give them some rest.

Maybe Woody can pull a Willis Reed vs Can't, ala 1970 NBA finals game seven at Madison Square Garden. (Knicks vs Lakers) Wouldn't that be sweet. Keep in mind Can't has those ugly yellow uniforms ala what the Lakers use to wear at their home games!!!!!

In my opinion, because Ced and Nick are banged up, go with Steve M. at the point and Nick at the 2. Then spell Nick with Ced and Steve with Roberts. That takes some strain off of Ced and Nick.I would, unlike some others have commented, go with Bardo as much as possible at the 5. In my opinion, Quade just doesn't have the body to play the 5.

Watcher's View:: The Future is Now?
bigzipguy replied to Zip Watcher's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Woody has a right lateral miniscus(?) tear. Almost five years ago I had surgery for a mid-lateral miniscus tear. I had played some of the baseball season with it. But basketball is much more stress on the knees. I was out of the hospital the same day. Used crutches for about two days then limped for about 1 week to 10 days. But he is a much bigger guy. I expect he will have to use the crutches for about a week. After that, we will have to hope he heals quick and gets great help for the trainers. -

Skip_zip: You and I have been saying the same thing all year about Chris M!!!!! -
Western is no doubt REALLY SORE about last year's pasting they got at the JAR.
-
UNtil Chris M. learns to help out down low, both offensively and defensively, a championship will be difficult to obtain!!
-
Unless or until Chris M. takes his game inside, this storyline is going to repeat!!!!!
-
Teams have figured it out. Pressure the guards out high, double team Wood down low. Zips not sucessfully adjusting so far. Ced, what are you doing??? Steve M. - dribble, dribble, but then again nobudy is cutting anyway. Stop so much double teaming on defense, if you are going to do so, must rotate back fast to prevent easy buckets!!!

Let's fight about something other than the fight

KD said on post-game interview that Ced's knees were bothering him. In a previous post-game interview , his back was also giving him problems. Back problems are more difficult to play thru than knee problems. -
Not suprised, but Akron GETTING ABUSED!!!

I understand the frustration at the calls. But as I said to a friend of mine before the game: When two good teams are going at it, and it's your team that is on the road, you really are 10 points in the hole. Refs are human and are unfortunately many times influenced by the crowd. BUT, YOU HAVE TO TRY YOUR BEST TO PLAY THRU IT!!!! Not to pick on Steve M., but I doubt if any of his TO's were caused by bad ref calls. -
Many great posts regarding the game last night. MY thoughts. Someone pointed out that last year, with both Wood and Romeo rebounding, scoring down low, and playing great defense, "Q", putting much was taken care of by the Zips. Now, he has no fear. Time to put the fear back into him!!!!I think KD has done a great job so far. BUT, Chris M. must learn to set up in the paint, knock people down sometimes, and score. This will give help to J. Wood, and also loosen things up more for all of our guards. As far as Steve M., I am confident he will bounce back. It was his first experience in this heated rivalry. And it happened to come on the road.Jimmy Conyers, not a good game for him, but he will also bounce back.Dials, what can I say????? Great game, but more points from down low will give him more rest.Zips grabbed a ton of offensive rebounds last night. When our guards are pressured heavily out front, try setting high screens, and run some pick-n-rolls.
-
I said this before, and so did you skip_zip, need scoring from somebody other than Wood down low.
-
Earlier in the year, Quade had some effective games scoring wise. At the time he was sometimes shooting a jump-hook. He is fine with that, as long as he doesn't rush it.
-
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have to root for Ohio. Nice to have a 1 game cushion going to Mac Center, with them yet to come to our place!!!
-
Have to agree with skip_zip concerning J. Wood. HE WILL WEAR DOWN. It is imperative that Chris Mstart scoring down low!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Very late last night, ESPN had Linhart's tip-in as one of their "gym jems"
-
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It should have been 3 shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
WE need to win our last three, they must lose at least 2. There may be a way to win it with a triangle tie, where each team is 1-1 against the other two.
-
Consider this: Next week, if Akron beats BG and Buffalo beats Miami, Buffalo CLINCHES THE EAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes you heard me!!!! If the above scenario takes place, then no team in the east could finish ahead of Buffalo and all teams that could finish the season in a tie with them, would have lost to them!!!!
-
AS was mentioned in a previous post, the weather conditions were a perfect reason to play Jackson at least in the fourth quarter. Then again , you can't drop sure touchdown passes, and have TERRIBLE palycalling11111
-
I have been a defender of JD, but did not want to hear what he had to say. His decision at QB has not worked out up to now. Too late now. Unfortunatelly, I think the team may go winless the rest of the way.
-
Well , where to start with this??? 1.)Williams drops a sure TD pass. 2.) Don't know what discipline problems with Jackson, but Jaquemain is not the anwser. 3.) Horrible red Zone playcalling. 4.) The East is gone!!!!!!!!!!! 5.) National TV for the Ohio game on ESPN2. How embarrasing will it look to have MAYBE 2000 people in the stands????
