  1. Don't forget we lost to USF. They seem to have our number.
  2. You might want to check your cable provider's listings to see if they have any replays scheduled (probably in the wee hours).
  3. Great idea, except the collected items from other U's should not be placed back into circulation
  4. And 0-3 ATS with L-coach.
  5. GZGZ is at least a Tosu alum, as opposed to most of the millions of their other fans (wrap your mind around that...*millions* of fans). Decent football facilities and a reasonably attractive campus are a recent phenomenon at UA. There are 7 other Ohio 1A schools competing for Ohio players, including the 800-lb gorilla, not to mention just about every other school east of the Mississippi. It's tough to move up the food chain when no one associates Akron with 'winning tradition', but the rise of Cinci gives me hope. If soccer were a major sport in the U.S., we probably couldn't be perched at the top there either.
  6. MAC ACC Way to go, Zips !
  7. I had my headset along at the game and thought Andy did a fine job as color analyst, especially for his first time. The strange thing was they had a 10-sec. delay so I was getting an audio "instant replay" on every down...they never used to have the delay that I can remember.
  8. I get that Captain, but I'm still allowed to not like it! If it's someone we want, then we should be unhappy about losing them to another MAC school every time. We need to become the destination school of choice for MAC & some BCS caliber players. There will always be a few players that tip the scale based on location or a certain academic program, but we need to start Toledo in recruiting...that's why facilities were built and the iCoach was hired.
  9. I liked Stams a lot too. I'm thinking maybe Chris Beaven would be good...Firestone HS and UA grad, lives in Akron. I guess he's more of a newspaper guy (now sports editor of the Canton Rep.) but I could swear I've heard him do some radio work..
  10. The new facility is looking great...thanks for the contributions to make it possible ! You rock !
  11. Way to christen the new field, ladies !
  12. Is that a ponytail or a bun? I can't quite tell..
  13. 72% Akron 12.5% Temple
  14. (moved)
  15. IIRC, the first Zips sporting event I ever watched was a Joe Jakubick game at Memorial. I wandered around in there a few other times but never really developed any special attachment to the place. If they ever replaced the JAR I would be a little more sentimental for all the times I've watched games in there.
  16. This is what happens when we win, people start noticing! Now if only our other sport teams can follow in our soccer teams success! Awesome find of this blog btw, it's cool to "scout" out other fans and see what they are saying. Thanks, I like that..."It's Akron!" That will make a good signature line..
  17. Wow. Corroded bridges are a Defense Dept. issue now? Well, sounds like a good career choice since we always hear about how much infrastructure upgrade is needed. And it can't be easily outsourced. Yeah, the Rust Engineering program in the Rust Belt is bound to make it into a Letterman monologue eventually, if it hasn't already. There goes another parking lot. Ironically, they were going to build one of the new parking decks in that corner of campus at one time.
  18. Nice to know they look and feel like plastic..
  19. Isn't there some tanning business still in there? Yes, but they've decided to start using natural sunlight, so the building had to go..
  20. Way to go national with your classy behavior, Redhawks http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/201...-drinking_N.htm
  21. Just the fact that they're coming all the way from LV to Akron says a lot. And they'll have each other to help offset the distance from home. Would love to see the women's team catch up to the men and compete for soon.
  22. Sounds like a good plan to me. The empire is quietly growing. Besides Wayne College, we're in Holmes Co., Medina Co., Barberton, and looking at Hudson. They mentioned the 293 acres of protected wetlands for research but I don't know how much "dry land" there would be for academic facilities. It could be a good spot for main campus overflow (dorms too) since it's a quick drive up Rte. 8...run a shuttle if need be.
  23. http://www.hudsonhubtimes.com/news/article/4851844 Hudson facility?
  24. Didn't UA have to preserve some hotel rooms at Quaker in deference to the city? I assume when this is built then QS can go 100% dorm(?)
  25. just spent the last couple hours youtube'ing the bluecoats. Im sold. Ill be there. Bluecoats will be ready: http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=c...2e-09bbf8a17738
