"Akron's Pat Bangston coached 14 seasons with head coach Bob Todd and associate head coach Greg Cypret at Ohio State after a five-year minor league career in the classy Minnesota Twins' organization" #1) Bob Todd.

I don't believe you.

I'm sure they don't want to make trips to Akron, either, to play football for 9900 fans. I think it's more likely the MAC stays intact than CUSA, if the dominos start falling.

"Will the Big East survive? If the Big Ten grabs Rutgers, Connecticut, Syracuse and Pittsburgh, that seems unlikely" I don't know why they say that. WVU, Cinci, Louisville and USF wouldn't want to go back to CUSA. Unless the ACC decides to also become a 16-team "superconference" and take them all in, it seems much more likely the Big East would just start adding Memphis, ECU, UCF... From the MAC they would probably be most interested in Temple and Buffalo (for its proximity and academics). If CUSA loses 4 members to the Big East, would they be able to get enough replacements from the MAC or SunBelt with their wide-ranging geography? They're the conference that seems the most vulnerable due to their high travel costs and limited revenue.

Do You Support Obama's Healthcare Legislation?
UA Fan replied to InTheZone's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
It had to happen. The current "system" is untenable. Too many people lack access to affordable health care. Even the U.S. has to evolve (like all other developed nations) beyond throwing people under the bus for the sake of insurance company profits. We will get used to it, as we have with Social Security, Medicare, Interstate highways, etc. -
Official ZNO Photographer?

I'll second the nomination. I'm always interested in photos of the new construction on campus. I'd like to see some shots of the new stadium dorms and Exchange St. parking deck. Nice camera, nice work ! P.S. A nice portfolio of photos from the Spring Game would be great ! -

Impact of UA Sports and Infocision on the City
UA Fan replied to MDZip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
http://www.dci.org/schedule/detail.cfm?eve...a5-5a0c7d747523 This should draw a good crowd this summer. Not sure what the geopolitics are but the Bluecoats are from Canton and used to hold this event at Fawcett Stadium, last I knew. It probably can make more revenue at the Info with the loges & party rooms, etc. A lot of youths from all over get to visit UA -
Cool. I avoided Twitter for a long time, thinking it was TMI...but now that I joined, I like the constant stream of updates and info on various stuff.

http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...TCLID=204915933 The 2009 seniors that participated included Zack Anderson (RG), Deryn Bowser (WR), Jeremy Bruce (WR), Wayne Cobham (S), Miguel Graham (CB), Andre Jones (WR/DB), Marcus Lemon (LB) and Dashan Miller (WR). Any draft potential here?

I agree, good luck to him, and if it doesn't work out, who knows, he might end up back here at some time anyway. Quite possibly. He's playing for a basketball state championship tomorrow, BTW. I think he'll wish he stayed in Ohio.

That's a pretty deep ranking system, but still a nice accomplishment for a mid-major school with no real winning tennis tradition.

I'm thinking about taking Sandra Bullock...she's from Texas and just made that football movie so she'd probably be into it..

Guess we aren't the only ones struggling with OU's guards
UA Fan replied to Quickzips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
It's good for the MAC. What's good for the MAC is good for Akron. Would you rather try to recruit athletes having a good conference or a sucky conference? It raises the bar for the other programs, including us. It puts more pressure on us to upgrade our program to keep pace. -
Yeah, but both coaches have made it to the CBI Sweet 16...I think they're safe.

Psychology Archives To Debut In New Museum http://www.akronnewsnow.com/news/itemdetai...ebut_In_New_Mus Very cool for the U. to have its own actual standalone museum. Looks like a lot of work needs to be done on the building though.

Interesting that he comes from Lancaster, OH, closer to you guys. Did OU recruit the McNight brothers at all?

I'll give 'Zips Supporter' credit, his party is organized. the officials sucked no doubt, Ohio was in the bonus in the 2nd half with 11+ left ...however 8-30 from 3pt land won't help either....this garbage about the gonzaga of the east is laughable... this team COULD have had 4 straight ncaa appearances...JC it's hard enough to get to the MAC title game, but in classic akron fashion let's set the record for most championship game loses... i'm still pissed agreed but I swear it is always the same thing when we lose. "Well the refs sucked, but our shooting percentage was terrible." I'm starting to think, after that game last night, there is some correlation. when we took the ball strong to the hoop, we got mauled with no call, yet OU continuously drove to the hole and got calls a lot of the time. we were forced to take jumpshots. Also, when you are playing great defense, setting a perfect double team, and your opponenet drags his foot about 5 feet right in front of the ref with no call, it's got to take the wind out of your sails a bit. ref's don't win or lose the game, but very poor officiating can really affect a game. There very well may be a correlation but you can't do much about the refs. That's why you have to be able to shoot from outside. 1 more 3-pt. out of 22 misses would have won the game in regulation. It's about 6 feet further than a free throw...should be able to hit about 1 in 3 with all the hours of practice.

I thought the kids played hard and executed poorly. There were 22 3's we clanked. Our D was porous against the dribble-drive. But I appreciate the never-say-die workmanship.KD needs to work with Zeke on the post-up turnaround jumper. We don't need to hoist up so many clankers next year with ZM as a sophomore.

Wow, great 2nd half D and much improved FT shooting at 78%.

http://www.bgsufalcons.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball&Falcons have lost 5 games, all against quality opponents. We are their next game, giving them a week to prepare. Thankfully, it's at the JAR...they will be tough.
