  1. To be clear, he passed Taylor's single season record of 10, with 10.5. Taylor still holds the career record of 21. Brown has 16.5 right now, I would not be disappointed if he passed Taylors career record either.
  2. OK so its not a big game but should still be noted. And by local custom early in the season the sound guy forgot to turn the mic on. :-)
  3. Odd thing to think about but you know after years of success and a National Championship (which wasn't that long ago) maybe, just maybe, Akron is now a NAME. Couple that with an excellent schedule and perhaps the soccer team has truly arrived - I've read articles recently where Akron has been identified as a college soccer titan. Perhaps respect has finally been earned.
  4. Number 4 - I am OK with that!!!!
  5. NCAA is supposed to be showing it here.
  6. So as of today 62 teams have at least 6 wins, 35 have at least seven losses with 31 (including the Zips) on the cusp of bowl eligibility with no more than six losses. 14 of the 31 (Ga St, Kentucky, Vandy, Washington, San Jose St, Rice, FIU, UTEP, ECU, Kansas St, Texas, Indiana, Nebraska and Minnesota) already have six losses so those are the ones we should probably be rooting against to help the Zips. CMU is almost certainly going to make it (they have Can't and EMU left), so that would give the MAC six eligible, so the Zips will probably need as many conferences as possible not to fill their slots, and losing to the Bulls might well get the Zips left behind because they would be a seventh team eligible and would probably drop the Zips to an eighth place MAC slot. That isn't likely to get it done. The Buffalo game is huge.
  7. Nice shout out for the Zips from the announcers at the World Cup qualifiers with Yedlin and Nagbe in the game at the same time.
  8. Something pretty cool that LeBron did. Certainly gaining wisdom as he becomes an NBA "elder statesman". Also like that his official stationery uses the Akron skyline. Man certainly is dedicated to his hometown. Hey Steph Curry, step up - you were born in Akron too.
  9. I'm going to go with Pat, maybe only a couple points but with all of the newcomers contributing I don't think anyone is going to go way up and he certainly has the skill set and with the plan to share some time with Big Dog instead of just splitting it, I see him gaining a few points.
  10. I suspect the penalty yards per game has a misplaced decimal - I would expect any team that has over 600 yards in penalties per game to have a problem winning any games.
  11. Johnson, who had been putting up Pac-Man numbers all season, was a pedestrian 23-of-41 passing for 269 yards and three touchdowns. We get excited when our quarterback's numbers are that good. And there are four MAC teams playing Saturday (Zips, Miami, UMass, EMU) and the Zips have twice as many MAC victories as the other three combined (and if we beat Miami would be where all of our MAC victories resides - not a point of pride).
  12. Georgetown's last and only loss at home was to the Zips. Since a little bit of a rough start they have had a tremendous season. Undefeated in the Big East.
  13. But you sort of have to beat most of them too Sitting at #3.
  14. Normally true however the NCAA has a stupid rule that a loss on PKs in the championship game only counts as a loss so that team ended at 23-1-1 with the tie being against UNC in the National semifinal that the Zips won on PKs.
  15. Give me the Bahamas Bowl! :-)
  16. On replay that was an outstanding interception by Scott. Leapt to knock it down with one hand and then grabbed it on the way down.
  17. Whew :-)
  18. DISH channel 158. Gods know why CBS wanted this one but thank you.
  19. So people bash him at times so give him credit - nice job George.
  20. Maybe because we took their AD? (indirectly )
  21. That's pretty amazing considering they had to win a four-way tiebreaker to even get the final seed. From GoZips.com: Following the final regular season matches of MAC play on Thursday, Oct. 29, there was a four-way tie for the eighth and final spot. Akron, Ohio, and Bowling Green finished 3-8 in the MAC and Northern Illinois was 2-9-3, but each team had nine 9 points. The tiebreaker rule was put into effect to determine who came out with the final spot. The four teams were grouped together to see which teams had the most head-to-head wins. Akron had six points with a win over Ohio and Northern Illinois. Ohio also had six points with wins over Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. The tie between the Zips and the Bobcats was broken with Akron's head-to-head 2-0 win over Ohio on Sept. 27.
  22. And Noah comes in at #14. Awesome. But exactly who calls him the Robot Ham?
  23. Except he didn't actually say University of Akron nor that that's where the scholarships were targeted. he just said it was held in Akron. Darn it.
  24. Much as I hated reviewing the game I really enjoyed getting this perspective, its not something you'd get from a regular reporter but something you get from the heart from an actual fan. I liked it a lot, thanks for posting and I hope you do it again. But why is it always the left nut, why never the right?
  25. The ACC has 4 of the top 5 and 10 of the top 30. We don't even have 10 in our conference.
