  1. And while it is possible it is not likely both of them return next year. It's tough being the Kentucky of college soccer. :-) Congrats to both of them.
  2. Shout out by the Congressman representing Portland on the House Floor. One thing I don't understand about the MLS playoffs is why they play a two game series leading up to the finals but only a single finals game? Anyone know?
  3. Mark Schlabach doesn't think much of our bowl. Ranked it #38 out of 40. And we don't even care.
  4. Looks like you have one more update to make - Toledo beat Iowa State this year. Plus you'll need WMU vs. MTSU in Conference USA and NIU vs. Boise in the Mountain West.
  5. Since this is Charlie Frye related, even though depressing if you are a Browns fan, a fan graphed the debut performance of every Browns quarterback debut since 1999. Look who is at the very top.
  6. Fun watching Caleb celebrate with his team. Brought back good memories. Got glimpses of Nagbe and Nanchoff which added to it. Congrats to the Timbers. All of the Akron mentions certainly didn't hurt.
  7. Two of the Columbus players also had big roles against the Zips in the College Cup. Tony Tchani played a big role for Virginia in their 2009 win and Justin Meram I think might have been the player that scored the early goal for Michigan in the 2010 semifinal.
  8. Smart play by Nagbe leads to the 2nd Timbers goal inside 7 minutes. Classy move by the Crew fans throwing cups at the goal scorer.
  9. Going to be in Vegas for the basketball team. Maybe can make it there but terrible timing.
  10. Wish I could go this year but schedule just won't allow it. Second star! :-)
  11. It will be Stanford - they just knocked off Wake in OT. So the College Cup seeds are 2, 4, 6 and 8.
  12. Dude you are definitely old enough to remember it was George Harrison that played for the Beatles not an old B list movie actor known more for his tan. :-)
  13. I think if Wake beats Stanford they will be the favorite. But the Zips certainly have a very good chance. And nice to get a little revenge on Creighton.
  14. Free kick by Najem wins it in OT! On to the College Cup!
  15. Crap Creighton ties it up. 25 minutes to go
  16. Lareya fouled in the box and Souto converts the PK. Zips up 1-0!
  17. Great player - poor kid can't catch a break. Good news is it is very treatable.
  18. Hustlebelt ranked how painful it would be for each MAC team to lose their football coach this year (and measuring how devastating it would be to the fan base). They said WMU, CMU, Buffalo and EMU should be very concerned if that happens but they listed only one program that should be in total meltdown mode. Tier Four: TOTAL MELTDOWN Akron- Terry Bowden (18-31) At 7-5 the Zips have their first winning season in a decade. Meaning I finished middle school, went to high school, graduated, got accepted to college, received a diploma and found my first real job before Akron made it back to a bowl game. That's a long stretch of futility only EMU can possibly relate to. But it all changes this year. The Zips are going bowling and can publicly admit to having a football team without shame. And what a shame it would be to have this all come crashing down. Bowden isn't realistically going anywhere, but could you imagine the destruction that would befall the athletic department at Ohio's polytechnic university? Akron is not an attractive landing spot for new hires. It has a history of limited success and a less than stellar track record on the recruiting trail. Right now Terry Bowden is doing the impossible and could be a few offensive weapons away from being a real threat to Bowling Green's dominion over the MAC East. The Zips have few places to turn if Bowden no longer leads the way.
  19. I know this is not a UA uniform post, but the Navy helmets for the Army Navy game are all hand painted ships, grouped by seven different position groups. Those are awesome.
  20. Wagon Wheel just got a mention in ESPN's "Flipping the field" column by Ryan McGee. Came in at Number 4 under the Rivalry Weekend Trophy Power Rankings: 4. Wagon Wheel -- Can't State vs. Akron: Legend has it that as John Buchtel was searching for the land on which to found the school that would become the University of Akron, his wagon got bogged down in the mud and a wheel broke off. He moved on, but the spot where the spokes stuck is where Can't State now sits. The Zips rolled (get it?) over the Golden Flashes on Friday.
  21. Since this should probably be used as the game thread, Zips just went up 2-1. Own goal the other way
  22. It's 1-1. We hit an own goal. :-( SMU has a pretty good team.
  23. Maybe the way to be successful in the MAC is not to hire the up and comer but the down and already been successful like Solich and Bowden.
