  1. I just went through all the permutations for the last week that matter for the Zips seeding and I couldn't find any scenarios where they finish higher than fifth nor lower than eighth. So it looks like a guarantee of a first round at home but you don't want that 8th seed to run into Buffalo in the quarters.
  2. Good news - I haven't been able to run a scenario where the Zips lose any tiebreakers for the fourth seed if they finish 10-8. Bad news - if either KSU or CMU wins two of their final three, the fourth seed possibility is non-existent. Edit - I found one - Akron, CMU, Miami and EMU all finish 10-8, Akron loses the four seed to CMU.
  3. Awesome about time we picked up an Explorer. Hudson has a long history of excellent soccer. I think I have a new favorite player :-)
  4. I thought the name Justin Meram sounded familiar. He was the Michigan player who scored a goal for them just a couple minutes into the 2010 National semifinal in Santa Barbara.
  5. Eastern Michigan is the 8 seed at 0-2 vs the Zips and Miami while the Zips and Miami are 1-1 vs each other. Miami the six seed based on better divisional record (4-3 vs 3-4 for the Zips).
  6. I'm no basketball expert but I believe turning the ball over every time down the floor for an extended period will not help you win a game
  7. A team of three point shooters who can't hit threes.
  8. In one of those if the MAC tournament started today ... The Zips would be the fourth seed. They have an awfully difficult schedule in front of them but they certainly have the opportunity now.
  9. Thanks for putting this up being out-of-state I had seen nothing on it and there is no team at the University more deserving. I just submitted my donation.
  10. I saw that list as well and dismissed it. They tried to incorporate "game day experience" to try to justify it. Well if that's the case just list the whole MAC and Sunbelt and be done with it. I've been to over 100 D-1 FBS stadiums and there is no way Infocision is in the bottom 25. Sadly though a lot of MAC Stadiums are. Vanderbilt is no prize but there is no way it is the worst stadium in the country.
  11. Incorrect - Johns Hopkins is an affiliate member of Big Ten lacrosse.
  12. Right after someone notifies Kent.
  13. Just saw this as well and my heart sunk too. Akron is the type of place where good coaches do get poached but you'd hope it would more difficult to do in this situation, thank goodness Jared perhaps explored the possibility and decided Akron was still his best option. I don't have any problem with coaches looking elsewhere that is their right and I am thrilled that it appears we're keeping him. But to Louisville? No school I have less respect for than them. In addition to losing Lolla to them (even though it was a blessing in disguise) they had the two absolute worst low-life football and basketball coaches in the country, Petrino and Pitino. So happy both are now gone but they will forever stain Louisville. There is one University that absolutely sold it's soul. Jared you made a very smart choice to stay, I hope this University appreciates it and shows it.
  14. Zeke not only got his degree, he has actually done some freelance tech support even while pursuing his basketball career. Might be my favorite student athlete ever to come through Akron. Great guy and very smart. He prepared himself well for whatever follows, he will be just fine. I know your schtick is to try be the board smartass but you're way off base on this one.
  15. Holy crap. Buffalo is now listed as a three seed in the latest Bracketology.
  16. Noah got himself on SportsCenter tonight by hitting a three-point buzzer beater in overtime when UNLV was down by one to BYU. Good for him ?
  17. Much different experience this time than 2010. 2010 I agonized over every minute because just once I wanted to see Akron athletics accomplish something really special and didn't know if we'd ever be at that point again. Would have loved to see a second star Sunday of course but not the same kind of agony. I fully believe this program will be entrenched for years to come. I even hedged my bet - I brought my daughter who is a University of Maryland graduate so one of us was going to be happy at the end darn it. :-)
  18. Playoff Jared - love it :-)
  19. All right had my fun with the typos, but it is pretty darn amazing what swimming and diving has done. They were a bit of a MAC doormat prior to this run. That is a monster turnaround.
  20. While that's a fairly gruesome image I will bet you are correct that it intimidated those other teams. ;-)
  21. I'm in - just bought my flights. Seen the Zips in Cary, NC, Philadelphia and Santa Barbara in the College Cup and enjoyed the UCSB trip the most. I'm not sure exactly why ;-)
  22. Well this year it was 1-0-1 (if you count the exhibition tie against Indiana) so for the regular season just the win against Michigan State - which is the point I believe that turned the Zips season around. Man how critical has Marcel Zajac been to this run and this team?
  23. Three out of four years to the College Cup. I'd have given that a zero chance after Porter left. Hats off to Embick and the entire team. Maryland and Indiana in one semifinal and the Zips get the winner of Michigan State-JMU tomorrow. I like the chances for a second star!!
  24. Unbelievable. Someone tell Michigan this is how you do a revenge tour. The College Cup should be held in Santa Barbara every year. The UCSB students were great to the Zips last time. Get those tortillas flying. ;-) Thank God it didn't come down to PK's.
  25. Tyler Cheese makes the all-name team.
