This is right on. The athletic staff was shoestring during December last year and was down 3 full time staffers. We are not Ohio State and do not have 20 folks working on matters like this. I know because I was one of the students who had to stay back and not go on the trip until the day of the game - it was all hands on deck save one guy from Athletics who tagged along on the trip and did nothing except walk about and look important working on the postgame party. GP1 should really get his/her facts straight before popping off on stuff he knows nothing about.

Every time I look at this schedule I feel more sick than the previous viewing. What moron signed off on playing five of the first six games on the fricking road? Buffalo and Ohio as the only TV games? If this is what we get after winning a league title imagine what we would get if we were not? As the favorite for the MAC East we are getting the worst possible run. Do not count on CMU being an easy game because after those first two games our boys are going to be beat up pretty bad. The only good thing about this schedule is the open date in the middle of the schedule instead of being at the first.

Akron lost 4 of their last seven games, all but one of which to teams that had no chance of a postseason unless they won the league tournament. You do not lose to Buffalo, Miami, and Toledo and get to go to the postseason when your league is ranked as low as the MAC.This is an example of how the coaching staff failed the team. They did not manage the players in the lineup all season to be able to be fresh at the end. Playing Joyce and Dials 35+ in the blowout wins made no sense then and even less now. This staff did not put the team in a position to win due to a ton of bad personnel moves.If Toledo beats Can't then the Zips are done for the winter.

Add in that the team was unprepared to play Nevada and got embarrased by a bad Louisville team and there is little I think is a great achievement from the 2005-06 Zips.It's not that they lost, it is how they lost these games. Add in a lack of recruiting for the MAC level of play, outside of the Akron city limits, and you have a program that had a chance to do something big and blew it on Saturday night.
