What fans? This should be an open letter to the AKRON FAN. Akron has people who show up to games, but they are not fans. There are maybe 150 real FANS.

Funny, but un-true. That Akron section will be as dry as bones on Thursday which is a sign of how dead the program has become.

Oakland has a 12-win season which will not help Akron's RPI. Winning a tournament bares not one ounce of weight. The win over Niagara was a pretty good win as people can now see. Akron should hope for an NIT bid but will have to go to the finals to get one in my opinion. Remember, we were left out of the bowl picture when our weak AD could not pull any strings - what makes you think basketball will be any different.

I doubt they will even fill a bus - no one on campus seems to give a crap about this team. If the students did not come when it was free and within walking distance why would they get on a bus, miss class, and pay to see Akron play?

Don't think Akron will have three first-team performers. Ohio had two of the best players in the league this year and both were freshmen. No one knows what role Travis will play next season with Wood returning, or how good Wood will be coming off surgery. Dru Joyce is not all-mac material, he can barely keep up now and is getting pushed by a freshman. This has been a good year but you should not get ahead of yourself thinking Akron is going to all of a sudden be a MAC powerhouse. With BG coming over to the East it will get tougher in 2005-2006, not easier. Losing McFadden and Collins will be tough to replace, even with Dials. If Akron can match a 6 seed next year I would be happy.

You are 100% right - who has this team beaten? Going 11-7 in the MAC is better for Akron U but is no great shakes for national recognition.

Class and Bob Pruett, now that's funny. This guy was a cheater who won MAC titles while breaking rules. He may be a nice cheater, but he was still a rule-breakin' title thief, especially back in 2000 when they stole one from the Zips.

If you think the Akron band is better than the Can't State basketball band you have another thing coming. Akron's band is a friggin' joke. The marching band sucks beyond comprehension. Try travelling to Ohio or even down to Hudson to see a real marching band. The Akron band was embarassed by Central State and Howard two years ago at the Rubber Bowl and they play the same crap year in and out. The basketball band looks like a bunch of dorks in their golf shirts and trying to be taunting fans. Maybe they should spend some more time learning how to play because their song selection is pathetic. I like the fact that the teams are winning and the U has some new facilities. Other than that the program is really in the dumper. The court just got changed this year and so I do not follow how you think the doberman is going to go away any time soon. If this has been written somewhere please let me see some proof and I will have a better day.

You've got me thinking here. I think the whole way that Akron Basketball was marketed this year sucked. Why not put players on the billboards - no one puts a coach front and center. Bad choice. I also hate the new court paint. Did they run out of blue? It looks cheap and unfinished. Most of all, Steve French and Joe Dunn suck. Dunn never says anything purposeful and French misses half the action. Take your headphones to a game you can see and tell me I am wrong. Cleveland State has a great announcer. I do not know his name, but that is the kind of guy we need. After the games they should play Dambrots press confrence on the video screen so others can see it. Better yet they should move it out to the court and let fans ask questions too. I also think the gold which is on the log should be changed back to yellow. The gold looks like baby crap. Our old yellow helmets in football were unique, now we just look like Notre Dame clones. It is almost like Faust is back in charge. I read the AD bio and saw his kid went to Notre Dame, maybe that is why AKron changed the school colors.

I think they should disband the cheerleaders, dance team and the band. All of it sucks pretty bad if you want my opinion. I wish they would just play music like at NBA games.

Sounds like a lot of 2-3 guards are coming in. Hopefully these guys will have some meat on them as both Bubba and Quade are no match on the glass. No PG either. Dials is a 2 which means Akron will have a log jam there. Joyce has proved to be non-durable so that may be an issue, especilly if Middleton goes down.

From the size of the crowds that this team has been drawing any cheer would sound like a small bar disturbance.

My company has a suite in Gund and I can tell you that the cash they make people pay for food and drinks is out of this world expensive. I am glad that Akron has finally made the damn tournament so we can have this discussion. Sounds like the Hard Rock Cafe is going to be a nice deal - I think I will stop by. Someone should make a banner for this site and take it to them and see if they will help promote and get more people to log on.

Joyce needs to pick up the steam a little Monday night. Either he is just out of gas, his legs are cramping or he has bad ankles because the kid is just not playing like he was two weeks ago. With DJIII not taking care of the ball Akron has lost effciency and has now lost 2 of the last 3 games. Akron needs more depth at the point and Middleton is the only other full-sized PG on the roster. I feel very nervus about Monday night... hope the string of MAC Tourney flame outs does not keep burning under KD. But if they do there is always drinking season... 18-10 would be a great season udner these circumstances. But let's hope for a win. Down with the Hurons.

I looked in my book and no such ticket was there. I never remember anything like that being in any of my books for the past 10 years, but it's not a bad idea. Gotta agree with Finger on this one baby... and the way the Zips lost today the NIT would have to think twice about taking Akron without the Zips AT LEAST making it to the MAC Semifinals. I think this was the biggest loss of the season in terms or margin and it could not of come at a worse time. Let's hope Can't State can hold on and win against OU so the path to the Semifinals is easier.

Whatever. It was the refs fault, a few calls go against the team and that cost Akron the game. Momentumn goes both ways and the lack of shooting the ball into the hole was the difference. BZ's point is 35% correct and 65% whine. If you don't like the game, turn it off. What is the point of the post to begin with. NCAA Basketball is THE MOST POPULAR RATINGS SPORT IN THE NATION! If you do not like it, watch Bassmasters or a Hunting Show... maybe even an old Ohio State/Michigan game on ESPN Classic.

Spill some scoop for us. It's an anonymous board so if you have something lay it out for us. I would have a hard time believing the OL did much as far as leadership. Most lead by example, which they did not. Same goes for Blackburn - not a real inspiring senior season. Frye is the reason for the turnaround - he and a weak middle schedule and divine intervention at the bowl against Marshall. No Charlie-all-the-way at Ohio and at home against MU and the Zips are 4-7, people are second guessing the coaches left and right, and no one is pumped. Regardless of how the season turned around, it did, the recruiting class was awesome and I am excited about 2005.

We actually should pull for Can't State to beat OU tonight... otherwise it will be Akron against Miami on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. If the flushes win then Akron owld be paired with WMU - a team which is reeling right now. Akron would have to face either Toledo, Buffalo or NIU in the Semis - all teams we can beat if we shoot the ball well. If OU wins we would have to go through Miami on Thursday, then either Toledo, NIU or Bal State on Friday. I just don't see Akron beating Miami twice in two weeks on no days rest. Hard to believe this group was 20 minutes from a MAC Regular Season title and fell all the way to 6th with a bad half.
