Bardo was not athletic. Egner is. He is not looking that athletic. That is the problem.
-
He is starting to look more and more like Bardo, who was something of a waste until the back of his senior year. Then he came alive and did us solid.
-
I think he has been superseded by Tree.
-
Listen, the point I am making is that we get highly touted players like Egner and Euton, and so far Josh has not shown much of anything. Literally he can't put the ball into the basket, and Dakotah transferred out when he did not fit our style of play at all. We have done pretty well over the years with JUCO transfers, because they are more of a known quantity. But it is SO unusual for us to get a freshman, especially one with almost no organized BB experience, who goes out there and plays with the big boys. I think Nik woke up and realized that if he does not catch fire he won't be starting. How do you keep this guy Tree on the bench? BTW, a lot of his mistakes, like the traveling, are BECAUSE of the lack of organized bb experience. No one calls traveling or fouls on the sandlot.

My biggest worry is that we could lose him to a transfer to a major major school. This guy could play for ANYONE. Remember, he is a freshman with very little experience. But the kind of potential he shows looks like what you see in the Final Four. If we can keep him, he will tear up the MAC as a junior and senior. In fact, he mitigates the loss of Zeke in a couple of years, as he is a pretty big guy who can really play. As you can tell, I am really impressed with the guy. He hits the boards, scores inside, and has a pretty damn impressive jumper. Anyone got any other thoughts (besides the one that we would probably have a better record if he didn't have to sit out some games)?

Because the site is run by someone with a juvenile sense of humor.

Zeke was awesome again. He is finally becoming an offensive force.

I thought he was supposed to play today?

I know people are still waiting for the big breakout after 2+ seasons. Some went out on a limb after the January Ken+ game last year, thinking that was the moment, and they were wrong. I'm again seeing glimpses that make me want to believe that he's getting much better, and more consistent. But, last night was not one of those examples. To me, that was just a guy doing what he should be doing when he's a head taller than most of the defenders that are competing against him. But, I still think it could be encouraging if he starts to put up big numbers against those inferior teams anyway, since he hasn't always done that in the past. More Game Thoughts: Nice to see 20+ assists in a game. That;s the way it should be. Shows me we're working together to score points. I'm getting more and more dissapointed with what Brett and Nik are showing as seniors. I'm seeing more and more up and down individual performances. Not one player on this team is good from game to game right now. Hopefully, that means we just have a ton of depth, with anyone being able to produce on any given night. We'll see. I must disagree. Last night he showed a lot of athletic ability - something that has been lacking. As well, he NEEDS to keep shooting as much as possible. Most of the time Zeke shooting is the highest percentage shot we can ever take. Even if he is not a good shooter, he is in close and won't get blocked. Many of his shots will drop.

ZEKE was awesome. He is really starting to look like a pro prospect. By the end of this year he will be a force to be reckoned with if he keeps improving.

It was his choice to take a job that is not as a head coach. We may not have to pay him anything. -
From my own experience, I was walking with a cane before surgery. Generally that is arthroscopic surgery. The entire procedure takes less than one hour. The next day I put the cane away. Keeping in mind that I was 61 and my knee will never be what it was at 17, I think once the stitches come out (a week) he can start physical therapy and since he is a young man in good condition he can come back quick. As well, it depends on how much they have to take out. In my case, it was a lot. But since he was able to play through it, I suspect it will be much less. Which is good. Take out too much and the knee won't work right. It is also important to do the surgery ASAP. The injury causes certain muscles to atrophy, since you can't walk right. It also puts stress on the other knee, which in time can be an issue. However, I am not his doctor, so this is just my uneducated opinion.

I had a torn meniscus last year. Before I had the surgery I need a cane to walk. I don't know how AA can play. But he will have to have surgery, it won't heal itself. As long as the ACL is not torn he can recover, but from my personal experience, it is quite possible that he will twist the wrong way and be lost for the season. That stuff floating around in there HURTS.

Time for a reality check: HARNEY COST US THIS GAME. I HOPE HE IS PROUD OF HIMSELF And I can make such a brash statement because: *He is our leading scorer *He has great chemistry with Tree and feeds him great passes for the bunny or the dunk *He is pretty good on defense *There is NO DOUBT in my mind that he scores 4 points. And we win. Done. WTF is up with these guys? When was the last time we played a game without one of our key players on suspension? If they don't cut it out, our season is doomed.

I am worried

They needed to play Tree. We got destroyed on the boards.
-
Made a saving tackle and an interception in the first half. At least someone from Akron can play!
-
PUT TREE IN. WE NEED OFFENSIVE BOARD HELP
-
We seem to be having problems with basics. Like a wide receiver running before he catches the ball.

There are even Fortune 500 companies that will hire people with this kind of background, but normally they are limited to lower level positions. Please cut it out. There is no background. He is not convicted of anything. There is a recent case in NY you might have seen on Youtube. A worker in McDonalds beat the living hell out of two women. The media chose only to show the portion where he was beating them with a metal rod: one got a fractured skull. The good old liberal media *forgot* to show the part where the two female savages jumped over the counter and attacked him! He was arrested and charged with many assault counts. We got word yesterday that the Grand Jury REFUSED TO INDICT HIM FOR ANYTHING, and he was cut loose. The point being, some folks here have him convicted and imprisoned based on what they read in the newspapers. Give it a rest and let the process play out.

It was a freaking bar fight. There will be little or no LEGAL consequences. He probably only got arrested because he didn't co-operate with the cops. Hopefully, the Judge is a Zip alum. The school will spank him, but really the biggest question is what was he doing out at 2AM before a game? He has to stop that behavior at once. But please, this was NOT a rape or robbery or child molestation. It was just a bar fight. You sure are blase about a potentially bad situation. People have died in bar fights. Treadwell has a four count charge and is out of jail on bond. No judge is going to turn a blind eye to a powerfully built man of six-seven pounding his fists on a smaller man. Public intoxication and underage intoxication are also charges. With good lawyering and some breaks Tree is looking at a fine, probable community service and a cost of several thousand dollars which he is not likely to have. Let us hope for the best and not turn a blind eye. This is not a pretty situation. Please get your facts straight. Treadwell was out after the Saturday night game. Like you stated; he has no business being out at that hour of the night. He was also charged with resisting arrest. Cops take a really dim view of judges who do not punish people for this offense. Dim like opposing them at their next election. There is nothing cute, funny of small about this situation. IT must be handled carefully or we could well lose this young man. The objective is to get him on the right path and permanently away from the influences that had him out partying at two AM. Of course, this didn't even happen...you're telling me Treadwell AND another guy were hitting him...and he wasn't injured at all? C'mon now... No injuries?? Is that really important?? It is a character issue. And really....do we really want someone who is punching someone repeatedly and causes ZERO damage to be pounding away under the basket in MAC games??? That would be saying he is a weakling. More likely the DJ is a Zip fan and does not want to see Tree go down hard. But whether or not he has injuries is not really important. Of course it is important. At his size, if he wanted to kill the averaged size person, that person would be dead. In this case, after "repeated punches" etc, the person was not even injured. Thus, it is fair to say he was not really "fighting" in any real way. Again, in my State at least, to have an assault you must have an injury. And we don't have any such thing in Law as "attempted" assault. That one drops to harassment, a violation not a crime. So yes of course he should not have been in the bar at 2AM on the day prior to a road trip. No, he does not have a "right" to be in a bar if he is under 21. BUT, he is still a college kid doing college kid stuff. If the charges were burglary or rape or CPW I would be much more concerned about his character. -

The objective is to get him on the right path and permanently away from the influences that had him out partying at two AM. I did not see a resisting charge, and I did state earlier that if he was charged with assaulting the cops that is a serious matter. However, whatever your life experience, mine is 30 years in the Courts. So I know very well how the system works. For your information, here in New York (upstate is the place of occurence, maybe SUNY Binghamton) there was a similar incident a few years ago involving a basketball player from Serbia who was probably BIGGER than Nik. He almost beat another student to death. The other guy was a little nerdy guy who was around 5'7 165, so the mismatch is pretty obvious. The VICTIM (unless he had a gun he was a victim because that could never be a fair fight) was in a coma for more than a month and almost died. Meanwhile, the Serbian Counsel in NYC sneaked the Serb hoopster out of the country after a Judge set bail too low. This started an international incident, with the State Department and Sen Schumer getting involved. The Serbs REFUSED to send him back for trial, and eventually agreed to try him in Serbia (where he probably got two hours detention as a penalty). The point is, THAT was a serious case. The victim almost died, and has brain damage and is now disabled. In THIS case the DJ stated he was not injured. There are no Felony charges. I presume this is a first arrest for Tree (at least I hope so). My 30 years of experience tells me the case will basically go away with a slap on the wrist, which could be community service or even some type of supervision,. But in the end, I think it will be seen as a bar fight. And I have to tell you, in most bar fights no one even gets arrested unless there is a serious injury. The cops just break it up and send them on their way. Tree probably didn't comply with the orders of the cops, so he became a collar. What I am telling you is this: breathe into a paper bag or something, but calm down. This is NOT a serious case. Putting a guy half your size into a coma IS a serious case, this one is not.
