  1. I agree about Harney. He only played 2 years in HS and the other day was his first Div 1 game. He has unreal raw talent. He will make mistakes. But he has the potential to be all world. I have not seen anyone who could jump so gracefully since Len Paul. He has tremendous upside.
  2. Is he being red shirted or what? He is supposed to be a great shooter, but I don't think he has made it onto the floor in a game yet? Anyone?
  3. I saved the game on my DVR. I have watched it three times. We look better every time. I'll say this: If we keep playing at that level there is not a team in the country that would blow us out. And that is saying a lot for a mid major from a one bid conference.
  4. That's pretty funny. Two 2-0 teams are below us, and that will all change by the weekend, but it sure looks nice.
  5. Not "made up".. "Nicknamed "Hondo", (a name inspired by the John Wayne movie of the same name), Havlicek revolutionized the "sixth man" role, and has been immortalized for his clutch steal in the closing seconds of the 1965 Eastern Conference championship." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Havlicek Easier to get a definition of a common word than a sports concept. Although I think Q should start, I respect the idea that he come off the bench suggested by some posters. Dambrot can pick when to use him and the best time. The best pitcher in baseball is not always the guy who starts...but who finishes. As long as Q gets his 25-30 minutes and is in at the end of games...I don't care. Someone mentioned that Jordan would have made a great 6th man (sarcasm I think). But he would have. And I am sure that is what he would have done had he believed it gave his team the best chance to win. Jordan was ALL about winning. I think Dambrot will use Q to his greatest impact on the game and I trust his instincts and decisions. But...don't underestimate the 6th man role...Havlicek did not and is in the HOF. Q may wind up starting and playing just about every minute. If he is the impact player in the MAC that he is starting to look like, his place will be on the court all the time. Remember, he got 19 last night against a major-major team with some real talent on the floor. People are knocking MSU, but the truth is that they do not play on the MAC level. They EXPECT to get to the dance year after year, we only get there by winning the tourney. No matter how "bad" they played, or if they are in an "off" year, the bottom line is they play in the second or third best conference in the country, which gets lots of bids. We don't. Getting 19 against them should be the harbinger of better results against most MAC teams.
  6. That is some article. I hope we can live up to it. And beat the crap out of Can't.
  7. Zeke is definitely going to be on the NBA radar this year, ESPECIALLY if we get some good post season play. We better hope he does not enter the draft early, we don't have a replacement lined up for next year.
  8. He's certainly got the coach-speak down. If Mississippi State comes around to being the top 40 team they were predicted to be, I think this very much counts as a marquee win in the event that you need an at-large bid.So we beat them and they get to go to MSG? Another insult, like when Romeo and company did not get a bid.
  9. Is Hiram a Div 1 school?Oops, Div IIIDoes this game even count?Sure would be embarrassing to lose. But then GARDNER-WEBB
  10. The fact remains that the program is a national embarrassment. We should thank Joe Paterno for taking the heat off us this week.As a very notorious '71 grad posted in another thread, this "team" may be holding us back from escaping from the MAC.Our other major sports are quite credible. When I was an undergrad we went to a bowl game and played against Terry Bradshaw. There is simply no reason that a Div 1 school with the enrollment we have can field a national champion soccer team, and a basketball team that wins 20+ games every year and goes to the madness, builds a new football stadium, and gives athletic scholarships can not field a .500 football team.
  11. lol really? What did MSU think we were doing at practice, playing tiddly winks?Sorry if you do not "get it". Early season practices hinge onrunning fundemental drills. The Zips did that in August.More recently many of the drills and sets were specifically tailored to what Mississippi State runs on both their offenseand defense. They read our boards just like our people read theirs.Dambrot wanted this win and he got it. The Zips were great.Question for you zippy5, you think maybe MSU coacheslooked at Akron tapes and had an assistant coach at the JohnCarroll game. Okay, they had two coaches there that night.I think MSU's coach is way more successful than KD so far, based on what they showed on screen. I also think that KD may have a legendary career by the time he is done.
  12. Now here is what is really sad:If not for the $%#%#$#$ football "team", we could have had a chance to escape the MAC.NATIONAL CHAMPION Soccer team.Basketball team 20+ wins 6 straight years (one of 6 in the NCAA Div 1) and I think we ALL believe it will be 7 in a row. TWO Madness appearances AND an NIT win. FIVE STRAIGHT MAC championship appearances. If not for football we may have outgrown the MAC in major sports and could get a better conference.
  13. We could end this year in the top 50.
  14. I would take that blunder any day of the week. The guy is a freaking monster.
  15. It will be the Zeke slap away that was shown at the end of the game.He is probably going to break onto the national scene very soon.He just makes those blocks look sooo easy.
  16. We still had our patented scoring drought, but only a little one.The most impressive thing is that they had TWO very very highly rated players, and Sydney is a monster. And these are not MAC highly rated players, these guys compete for first team All American. To put it right back in their faces was awesome.
  17. A couple more like this and the Vegas lines will change....If EVER there was a Zips team with a shot for some wins in the Madness, this is the one. We have more athletes than we know what to do with.
  18. All pre season polls and ratings are now off the table. They were all done before anyone had stepped onto a bball court for an official game.A couple more like MSU and the Zips will get some respect.
  19. We always had those high three point attempts, because we didn't have an inside game. NOW......HarneyAAQQQQQQQZEKEGilliamWE HAVE AN INSIDE GAME.Did you see how many wide open three point looks we had? That's because we have an inside game. When our three pointers start dropping...
  20. We would not have even been in this game if not for Zeke. Aside from the fact that his 10 points were the margin of victory, he had them totally confused. They could not get a shot in the air. He just kept slapping them down. One of the best nights of his career, and the next one will be even better.
  21. And the BEST part:When the announcers said:"THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE A MID MAJOR TEAM".
  22. Yes. He is not playing. Hard to score when you are not on the floor.
  23. Zeke got his 10. Time to be impressed
  24. I think his nickname should be:THE INTIMIDATOR
  25. Seems to be TOO MANY GOOD PLAYERS.They can't even get Gilliam or Egner into the game!We have backups for everyone this year, except for Zeke. One guy gets into foul trouble, another GOOD ATHLETE comes in.Last year some folks were saying that Q has NBA potential. Looks that way to me. But how about Harney! Gone are the days (HOPEFULLY) of multiple misses from under the basket. We got guys who can score inside!!!!!!!!Maybe we can trade one or two for some football players?
