  1. Late 1960's Jack Beidelman and Danny Ruff. The first bowl game Akron went to. And a football player named Ron something who was killed when he tried to inflate the spare tire in his girlfriends Camaro. If I recall, he lived on my floor in the dorm when I was a freshman in 1967 - he roomed with Bob Azzariti, another Zips football player.
  2. You mean we might even get some ESPN3 Hoops games instead of that joke of a stream?
  3. How can we go P5 when no one comes out for Football Games?????? As much as people complain about the JAR, it is paradise compared to some of the places we play, as seen on the internet or ESPN feed. But we don't fill that either. No conference is going to want a school that does not fill the seats.
  4. They can always find room for a high major.
  5. Please do an RPI chart of all 32 teams.
  6. #6 seed is absurd. Only one team out of 32 has more wins than us, and ALL are conference season champs (other than the at large teams). OH, wait, I forgot, it's the NCAA.
  7. It was posted above we are a 6 seed playing a #3. That means we go on the road. Personally I would just tell them to get someone else. Too insulting.
  8. We should refuse to go. We had a great season, and get no respect at all.
  9. Then why are they a play in???????
  10. As long as we live in the MAC this is simply the way it is always going to be. And look at the play ins: Holy Cross has a losing record. Are you kidding me???? The idiot "President" cancelled baseball, time to cancel the MAC and go elsewhere.
  11. I hear iCoach may be available.
  12. All pointless. They "allow" us into the NIT because they have to, under the rules. That's it.
  13. So not only should that last foul never have happened, but we still had one to give. Do it before that 3 point attempt, clock probably runs out and we go to OT. Just dumb plays in the last 15 seconds.
  14. Nothing to wait for. That was a done deal before the season ever started.
  15. That last foul was just incredibly stupid. We would have had last possession with a chance to run a play. Just a stupid way to ruin a season.
  16. Just for the record, because you don't live in NY. EVERY SUNY school is named the same way - SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Binghampton, SUNY Farmingdale etc. New York has a huge State University system, and they are all called SUNY. If it was done the same in Ohio, it would be SUO Akron, SUO Kent, SUO Cleveland etc. And there would be NO The Ohio State University, it would be SUO Columbus.
  17. Actually, the school is SUNY (State University of New York) Buffalo. So it is not a re-brand at all.
  18. So who do we want to play tomorrow? Don't know who to root for.
  19. The stars are lining up. We seem to be drawing exactly the opponents we want to have a clear path the the Dance. All we have to do is PLAY WELL.
  20. Big Dog was clearly the MVP. Let's see if that holds up for the entire weekend.
  21. Too much suds pal.
  22. We did have one once. His name was Len Paul. Before your time.
  23. Here is what I think you are missing: The MAAC is a Metro NYC area conference. It gets a ton of play in the press. It has a hoops tradition going back to when the NIT was the king of tournaments. While it is an "inferior" conference to the MAC, for many it is a "name brand" conference. With schools with a strong basketball name recognition: Siena. Niagara. Canisius. Manhattan College. Rider. Marist. St. Peters. I recall even back in the 1950's and '60 those schools and scores were ALWAYS announced on the radio news. These are NAME BRAND schools in the biggest media market in the world. So the conference gets notice. As opposed to the MAC, which has such luminaries as EMU, NIU and Ohios Polytechnic University. So lets be real here: Football won a Bowl Game. Hoops has the auto NIT bid and a clear path to the Dance. Soccer won a National Championship. Baseball, well thanks Mr. President for the screwing. But for Akron to have a shot at an at large pick in the Dance, we need to be in a BETTER conference. The MAC just stinks. It gets no respect.
  24. RPI is now 34. If Iona beats Monmouth today, that will probably bump us up a few points.
