Where have I shown a disdain for walkons? Because I said starting a sophomore walkon show a problem with recruiting is not a disdain for walkons. Because I talked about 1 walkon, I now have a disdain for walkons. Wow, a little exageration there.. :blink: I respect the hell out of walkons. Those are the guys that are truly doing it for the love of the game. My problem isn't with the walkons, my problem is with our recruiting.

That's the thing. For the first time I can remember, we do have some D-lineman. To be good at the 3-3-5, you need good LB's too.We don't have that. We don't have very good DB's either. Bain, Lively(when healthy). Sewell, Lemon, Pendleton, Rash, Marcoux, Harvey, Hasime, Cowles.That is some beef right there. If JD didn't switch from the 3-3-5 now, he never will.

With Bain back our defense will merely be bad. Without him the defense is even worse.

So I guess every walkon is a star now because of few exceptions. Also, most walkons that succeed don't do it their soph year. They sit and end up being decent by their junior or senior year. Does anyone know anything about Bain? He was supposed to play last week. He hasn't practiced at all. Even when he is back it will take him a couple of weeks of practice and games to get the rust out and get in game shape.We finally have a stud at a position of need and he is hurt...

Kevin Grant suffers from Dwayne LeFall disease. He is actually getting worse as his career progresses.He looked like a future stud a Freshman and then Sophomore but is getting steadily worse. IMHO.

Why would you want to play LB in a 3-3-5? I bet if we played the 3-4 he would be dying to play LB.If my goal was to play in the NFL, I would be very hesitant to play for a team that plays the 3-3-5 if I wasn't a DB.If you have good d-lineman, the linebackers would get a lot of tackles.

I'd also like to know if anyone knows anything about Marq. Davis? Is he hurt or just not ready to play yet as a Red. Freshman? At 6'6" 285 Ibs. and quick, I'd like to know why he did not play in Madison. The O-line offside penaties will be fixed in the film room and practice. Typical first game jitters.Seeing that Marcoux, Rash and the 2 freshman played, I take it that Marquinn looks a lot better than he plays.I thought Bain was supposed to be back for the game. Maybe if the baseball stadium were configured correctly, it could also be used as the new soccer field.it's about time we had a soccer stadium. Soccer has been the most winning sport for UA for as long as I can remember.

No matter how you put it, far or close, real team or not, if you went to Akron, that's your team, your affiliation, your identity. Who cares what your family does and who they root for, you went to school at Akron, they didn't.Let's put it this way, your son is playing in a school league and your neighbor's son also plays for another team, your neighbour's son is a better player, do you stop cheering your son and cheer on the neighbour?Some of us went to both schools and graduated from both schools. I wouldn't take it if anyone on an OSU site put down UA, which they don't by the way, so don't expect me to take it when some jealous fool on here decides to take shots at my other Alma Mater for absolutely no reason other than to look tough.OSU is not an opponent of UA this year or in the near future, why some people have to keep talking about them is beyond me.
