I agree. Let's tell JD tomorrow. On second thought, you tell him. I'll have your back.

That is part of the problem. We don't really have a scheme for any QB to run.

I can comprehend it. I was an OSU fan until they won the National Championship. I was an OSU fan through all the Cooper years. The reason I am not a fan now, is because of all the front runners plain and simple. So yes I want to see OSU fail. Not out of jealousy. (Do you really think any of us grew up a Zips fan? No we are all indoctrinated with who our families root for.) No, I want to see them fail so I don't have to see them in my home town paper everyday, so I don't have to see a bunch of pop colored douchebags running around with OSU gear they picked up even though they are attending OU, Miami, Can't, and yes Akron. I don't like people who are fans of winners because they are winners. Like the Indians fans of the late 90's who never even stepped foot into Muni. The only issue I have with you, is the fact that you come on here talking OSU. It's a Zip board. Unless we are playing, or we get a transfer OSU should not be mentioned on this board. They have nothing to do with us. And everyone on here that absolutely hates them (for what ever reason they have) has a right to hate them, whether it's jealousy, because they weren't accepted, or because they are shoved down our throats day in and day out and called great, when they (and any BCS school for that matter) only play, at most, a total of 5 really good schools the entire year.Fantastic post.. So posters here can call out OSU fans and they can call OSU names, but if anyone defends that, they are the enemy. Thanks for posting the rules.

Nice pickup, the kid can run.Maybe this allows us to put Torrence at LB where I feel he is best.

Well, to be fair to that metaphor, tOSU is the bigger program. However, the point still holds. Even if there is (unfortunately) a wider desire from your subscribers to read about the down state team, that only legitimizes covering THEM, and it does not legitimize over-covering them seemingly to ignore the hometown team.Back on topic, I had to laugh at my last post on this article though. It just occurred to me that writers can't win. If you take a position on an issue, people slam you for bias journalism. If you stay somewhat neutral, people slam you for not taking a stand or having a position.Still, there was something sorta weak and timid about that whole thing. I can't put my finger on it. Even if you didn't want to have a subjective opinion, there just had to be a better way not to tiptoe through the bed of tulips while trying to appear to dance. For those of you that are ignorant, there really is a college in Columbus called Columbus State. Now carry on with your bashing OSU. Just thought I would mention that.

Guess you'll be staying home then.Ouch

Hey CK, according to the roster, Larry Dawson caught on with us.He is listed as a DB and not an RB. That is interesting. He's a much better DB then RB anyway. His coaches always tried to get him to focus on DB but he thought he could be a good runner. His junior year he had 9 interceptions. That's good to hear. We need help in the secondary.
-
from what it sounds like he probably is a bit better at linebacker, but also, don't you always want your best at each position? With his strength, speed, and agility, it's hard to not put him at RB a little just to see if he could be that guy who can just take over a game and rush for 300 yards a game at will.4.55 speed is nothing special for a running back. That is pretty good speed for a linebacker though.UA needs more speed on defense.

I don't know, I think the Buckeyes could stay within 7 You know, I've seen you complain mightily about why can't this board be more friendly and open-minded to fans of both the Zips and Buckeyes, but there's no doubt you bring a lot of this on yourself. Now maybe you are just reacting to how you've been treated by some in the past? Perhaps, and much of this may have come before my time on this board. But here are a few of my own comments on some of the things you've said on this thread. TRUE, Syracuse will be favored and it WILL be an upset if the Zips win. But, I think it has all the makings of a pretty competive game (can't wait for this road-trip). While the final score was a little mis-leading, Indiana did NOT manhandle the Zips last year. And, yes the college football forecasters are probably not losing any sleep over how the Zips will perform in 2008, but couldn't you cut a ZIP FAN a break on this board??? And his main point is valid. The Zips are VERY much an enigma heading into the season. And I don't care if it's only the people on this board who care, that doesn't change the reality. My final point is this (and I apologize if someone else has made this point before). Maybe if you changed your name to Zipbuck others here would take you more seriously as a Zip fan. I'd call it "deferring to the home team". Just a thought. BTW, I am NOT trying to start one of THOSE discussions. Dude, I don't think that was any type of personal attack on Buckzip's part and if it was, it didn't get under my skin. Though I've given BZ enough $#!+ in the past, I think he's toned down his bias quite a bit. He thinks the Zips will lose by 14, great, that's his opinion. Now, when he starts preaching to us about how we should act as fans and how a real, bigtime program like OSU does things, then we can knock him off his high horse.Dude, thanks for that pat on the back... I don't have a bias one way or the other. You just think I do because I am not a homer...Oh, your opinion..
-
I think you hit the nail on the head - I see him playing one of our hybid positions (Rover, Sam or Bandit - whatever the heck those things are.) At RB he's surely no better than Pinky Johnson, and if Pinky is 3rd string going into camp... well, you get the picture. I think DT would serve the team much better on the defensive side of the ball.IMHO, I think he is a better LB than running back anyway.

I will only respond to the part about my name because that is the only part to me that I understand about your post. The rest is your opinion. This board is new compared to most college sites. When I signed up for my first site, years back, it was an OSU site. The name Zipbuck was already taken. Buckzip was the next best thing. I am too lazy to try to remember different names and passwords, therefor I use the same ones on every site. I hope that helps.

Has it even been confirmed that the guy is here, or is it still a rumor?
-
Yeah, I bet the college football forecasters are losing sleep thinking about what a question mark the UA football team is.

And some people on here always think we are a lot better than we are.I doubt we beat Syracuse. I think we lose by at least 14.I agree. As much as I hate to say it and as I am well aware of how down the 'Cuse is presently, we were just so awful last year that I'd have to consider beating the 'Cuse an upset. Each year when we have a big opponent, people think we have a great chance to win and we always lose bad.Sorry guys, I know we only lost by 3 scores to OSU, but that game was not that close. So now we're comparing Syracuse to OSU? Just because they are in the Big East does not mean that they are a good team and we will automatically lose to them. No, I am not comparing them to OSU. I was just preparing for the homer that was going to come on and say. "we nearly beat OSU" I know Syracuse is way down, however, Indiana sucks, and they manhandled us.I don't pay much attention to star ratings because they aren't always accurate. However, The OSU, UM, ND, USC, Florida, get mostly 4-5*. The Indiana and Syracuse types get mostly 3* players. Akron gets mostly 1-2* with the occasional 3*, that usually doesn't qualify. The talent level gap is still pretty large.

Every year someone here thinks we have a shot at a big boy and every year we lose big.Yes, last year at OSU was big no matter what some think.

Yes it is ..... Does anyone remember what happened to the Buchtel High Science (or Math) teacher on his way to school a couple of months ago??? A concealed carry and a gun in his car may or may not have saved his life.Thankfully our founding fathers thought it was and it still is.Libs don't quite get it.Will you be voting for the liberal John McCain this election or the even bigger liberal Obama? There is almost no difference between the two guys. We are just going to exchange one liberal, Bush, for another liberal. We wouldn't be exchanging liberal for liberal if the Barr/Root ticket gets elected. Our liberty would be preserved instead of being put in jeopardy.McCain is a liberal, however, Obama is a socialist. This will be a hard one...

He is still young and learning how to be a WR. I think he will make it.

He started for a couple years and received a free education, but UA tried to "BE LITTLE" him....
-
To build up the confidence of our even shorter Dbacks in practice. That's pretty funny.
-
Word on the street is he's visiting UA this Friday. It looks to be between us and Memphis.Would he still be able to play this season?
-
Why doesn't UA ever play OSU anymore? I remember back in the 80's UA played OSU a few times.
