  1. Ok now I know this is far fetched. However, this is the Clowns we are talking about. The Browns draft Brady Quinn in the 1st round. They plan on him being the starter from early on. They have Chalie Frye and Derek Anderson. They see some potential in CF and none in DA.So, when CF starts off badly, they immediately pull him and then trade him. This way they are avoiding any type of QB controversy. You see, if CF looks good, there is no way they can explain pulling him in favor of Quinn. So basically they wanted him to fail. When that was happening, they immediatly yank him to make sure he can't redeem himself. Now, I realize that if CF looks good, they can still trade him and get a higher draft pick for him. However, that would mean delaying putting in BQ.Also, these are the Browns we are talking about. Stupid things seem to happen non-stop with them.Like I said, this is way out there. However, look at the organization we are talking about.
  2. Naaah. We want real opponents.
  3. Maybe so, but at least he will be on his feet for the whole game.
  4. Those must be 2-TD with 2 missed PAT.I know it's not 4-FG
  5. Good for him. Maybe he will be more comfortable. That combined with less pressure and being part of a good organization will help.
  6. Akron 21Indiana-17
  7. I believe it is 2 fold. If you are a defensive player, you are probably enjoying visiting here. If you are an offensive player you may want to stay away.Maybe they can use it as motivation to do better and read good stuff.
  8. Hey, we have enough problems keeping our recruits. Please don't give them another test to pass.Ouch, that was below the belt. I apologize.
  9. Does it matter one way or the other?
  10. Racer, That was me. However, I said that there were 2 guys that would be in their 2 deep. Kemme and Reggie Corner. Corner may even start. I think he is better than Donald Washington. Please tell me which OSU player you would replace with an Akron player in the starting lineup. Sorry SoFlaZip, I am not biting on that one.
  11. That is EXACTLY what Miami traded for their starter a couple months ago. Why do you think that it was easy to negotiate the trade so quick? Precedent was set. First off the Dolphins gave up a 5th round pick. At least that is what their website says.Secondly, Green is a 38 year old band-aid. He is their to fill a hole until someone is drafted. Frye is a 3rd year QB with some real experience. If anyone thought he had a big upside they would have gotten more.Wow, this sounds like a Frye bashing thread now. I feel like the guy that always bashes him now. That isn't my intention at all. I am merely saying that obviously the other NFL teams don't share some of your views of how great he can be.
  12. I didn't realize this was a half full/half empty type thing.Yeah, the Browns suck
  13. That is my point...Nobody thought he was good enough to be a starter. If someone thought he was starter material, they would have offered more than a 6th.The Browns organization sucks. We all know that. Any team that goes through an entire off season and training camp with their starting QB then cuts him after 1 quarter of 1 game is pretty crappy.
  14. Akron didn't get beat up at OSU. OSU is a better football team with better football players. I don't think they are any tougher than Akron. This isn't like OSU had 300 lbs d-lineman and Akron had 240lbs o-lineman. Akron can compete pysically wiith anyone. It is the talent and speed that is the difference.
  15. It probably will bother Hixon for a while. However, it's not like he was doing the hitting. He was the one being hit.It is terrible when something like this happens. It's a good thing that everyone isn't like Jack Tatum
  16. Skip-zip. I understand your point. Again, you are missing mine. Please reread it.I never said he was garbage. My point is just that the only thing the Browns could get for him is a 6th round pick. This has nothing to do with salary. $1M in NFL terms is nothing.IF any other team really wanted him they would have given up more than a 6th round pick.I will make this easier to understand. If Peyton Manning was going to be traded by the Colts right nowDo you not think the Colts would get a whole hell of a lot more than a 6th round pick for him in a trade? He makes umpteen million. However, the Colts would probably get 2 1st round picks and other stuff too. I know it's apples to oranges. Bu that is my point.I never said nobody wnats Frye. I said nobody wants him enough to give up more than a 6th round pick. Salary has nothing to do with it.
  17. Yeah, it's like posting. You have to register to vote. It kind of sucks.
  18. I think you are missing my point. I never said that Frye was garbage and nobody wanted him. What I am saying is that the best the Browns could get was a 6th round pick. He was a 3rd round pick when drafted. If teams thought he was going to be a good NFL QB, someone would have offered more than a 6th round pick. A 6th round pick is a "Hope" pick. I remember an NFL GM saying that a few years ago. With the 6th and 7Th round picks you draft someone you hope can help your teamObviously someone will want him. He will probably stick around in the NFL as a backup QB. However, if anyone thought he was a potential starter they would have offered more than a 6th round pick and gotten him instead of Seattle.Of course they could have gotten him as a FA and paid him less. However, they wanted to be sure that they had first dibs. They obviously want him. But noone else wanted him enough to offer more.
  19. I disagree. If teams didn't think highly of him, they could've just waited for the Browns to cut him, and then put in a FA offer for him. Most likely, that offer would've been at a significantly lower salary than Charlie's current contract. I'd say the fact that somebody traded for him is a pretty good sign that at least a few teams in the NFL liked Charlie a lot.ZipGrad93 I guess you can look at it that way. My point though is that noone was willing to give up higher than a 6th round pick. You know the Browns contacted every team and no team offered higher than a 6th.Once the Browns had that offer, I am sure they called back every team and said we have an offer for a 6th round pick. At that point, any other team could have beaten the offer by offering a 5th round choice. Noone did. They didn't just take the first offer and leave it at that. They searched around for the best offer. They got the best that they could get for him.
  20. I am not a scout and really no nothing about how to judge how a system is for a QB.The biggest sign for me of what other teams think of CF is that the most the Browns could get for him was a 6th round pick. If other teams really though he had potential they would have offered a little higher pick than that.It seems that there wasn't too much of a bidding war for him.
  21. It sounds like they are setting us up for BQ
  22. I can't see the game. What happened???
  23. You are probably right. I think that the game yesterday was a big help in heloing this team grow. I think the offense will be better next week. They can't be worse.I just hope the team doesn't have a let down after a hard fought loss.
