  1. I really, really hope this is wrong.
  2. Defending his players but not reporting what happened as told to by the FBI. Those are his actions. Then falling on the sword for the higher ups that did nothing about it. He didn't fall on his sword, he got fired for being a liar. See, this is the thought process people have when they listen to the media and believe everything said. You just keep on listening to the media. At least I can think for myself. Obviously not.

  5. Funny, a guy that played at a school and a guy that coached a school for 10 years are homers... No to Luke, No to LeChuck. Just because guys played doesn't mean they would make great coaches. If that were the case, Michael Jordan should have about 10 rings from winning the NBA title as a coach. Off of the current staff there are a couple guys I would like to see stay.
  6. If we take a HC from a lower division there has to be a few certain criteria met. 1-D1AA-Only. No lower than that. 2-Proven consistant winner. Not an occasional good record. 3-Young and looking to move up.
  7. You beat me to it. Both of those guys were fairly highly rated Moore was recruited to the SEC. If put in the right system either could become all MAC or maybe they both truly do suck. However, based on this last season, everyone on the team, but Wagner, sucks. Anyone that thinks QB is our only issue is blind.
  8. This thinking is wrong. I am a premium member on another site and a gentleman that writes and reports on Ohio recruiting has said Akron is the bext job in the MAC and the 2nd best in Ohio. The facilites, stadium and local talent pool would make any good coach a winner almost immediately. Then give him a few years to get his players in and recruit even better after having a winner and Akron could move out of the MAC. This is a very respected neutral football guy saying this. FWIW So if it's so easy to win here, why can't we seem to do it? Why are we talking about leaving the MAC? We haven't even won our division in FB in a convincing manner, EVER! I never said it was easy. I said it's the best job in the MAC. We just got our new stadium a couple years ago and hired a moron as coach. The right coach will be able to turn this thing around. If I am a high school player and I look at 2 straight 1-11 seasons and then I visit and see 1000 people in the stands, I am not going to Akron. However, if the program starts winning, then we will look better to recruits and there will be more people in the stands and we won't be the laughing stock of CFB. We need the right coach to get it started. Miami was nothing before Schnellenberger got there. Florida was nothing before Spurrier got there. The list is long and endless. If you remember, Cincy was nothing until Dantonio got there and got them turned around. Then they got Kelly and continued it. Once the winning started it kept going. They are usually close to if not a top 25 team. We have better facilites, stadium and talent area than Cincy. Being a good team is like getting rich. You have to spend money to make money. You also have to have a good coach to get the train rolling. Once the train is rolling it keeps picking up speed and nothing can stop it. If there is a good young proven coach that really wants a stepping stone to prove his worth, Akron is the perfect place for him. He can take the worst program in America and turn it around. Once the turn around is complete then we can continue to bring in better coaching talent. Akron is a sleeping giant for football. There are so many positives that we have going for us. We know this team sucks so we can't picture it not sucking. But get the right coach and all that would change. I don't know who that coach is. That's above my paygrade. Imagine a winning Akron team with a good coach, the facilites, stadium and beautiful campus recruiting against any other MAC team. It would be no contest. We would also get our share from the Big East, Conf USA and middle to lower B10. Everybody here knows I am not a sunshine pumping homer, but this really is a good job for a good coach to prove himself at.

  10. Fick is staying at OSU to work under Meyer.
  11. Yeah, right. It's true. You will hear the official announcement either tonight or tomorrow morning. Holy crap. This was on the Tressel thread and I assumed that he was talking OSU. They are having a meeting tonight to announce Urban Meyer. Maybe GP1 is right. I need a reading comprehension class. I have no idea if Akron has a new coach already. That would be very fast.

  13. I bet he's going to be the punter for the Arizona Cardinals. I thought it was Einhorn? No that would be Finkel. Finkel is Einhorn.
  14. New talk that UC may be looking at Fick. Butch Jones has had a good start at UC and may get a look at a bigger school such as Illinois.
  15. You need to see an Audiologist then.
  16. I agree with this except for Winters. An inconsistent coach in D37 or whatever low level league he plays in isn't what I want. Leach is rumored once again for the Wash State job. Please, not Turner Gill. He fell flat when he tried to move up. Probably wasn't ready. Don't need a guy on the way back down. Right now there are all kinds of guys out there with successful head coaching experience. Do you want a Solich type,an older guy who has coached at the highest levels and had some success? Do you want a younger guy(HC) from a lower level who is on the way up? Or do you want another coordinator with no HC experience? I want someone who has successfully run a program at some level and has dealt with the responsibilities of being in charge. No coordiantors please. I agree about a lower level guy, but I would want a D1AA guy that has consistently been in the top 10 of that division. I don't want a guy like Winters that is slightly above average at an even lower division.
  17. If you think Tressel is coming with Luke as his DC and then Luke takes over, I think you are wrong.
  18. Brilliant insight.

  20. I do dream of something bigger for the University. I think there are a lot of guys we could go after who could get us there and I don't understand why everyone thinks the Tressel/OSU shortcut is the only way to be successful. We need to look at various possibilities and find the right person. This jumping on the USS Tressel doesn't smell right to me and I think it might be bad for him and us in the long run. I don't want a coach that takes shortcuts either. Please describe these "shortcuts" in detail. Great question. It doesn't take much detail. The same logic as the old "build facilities and we will be good" applies. We can't just assume that hiring Tressel will make us good. It takes a lot more than that to be good. I dont' doubt that Tressel is a good coach. It's easy to be at least good at OSU. Tressel was good, Cooper was at least good, Bruce was at least good. Look at the place and all they have going for them. Little of that exists at Akron. I'm not even certain Tressel will have the hunger to do what it takes to be good at Akron. Coaching "for the love of the game" doesn't do it for me. There has to be more at Akron. You said great question and then never answered it. LOL What shortcuts did he take? Try better reading comprehension. It's about UofA taking shortcuts, not Tressel/OSU taking shortcuts. LOL My reading comprehension is fine. You implied Tressel takes shortcuts in your original post. I'm not sure why hiring a winning coach that has the type of record Tressel does is a shortcut to you. I certainly don't want another losing coach. I would like Tressel at Akron, but there are others I would look at too. Tressel isn't going to happen.

  23. How dare you be such a negative poster!!!! I always saw myself as more of a leader of rebels against corrupt law enforcement in a Third World country. Not a corrupt CEO involved with Tressel's YSU football program. I guess Buckzip can be our Mickey Monus. Hmmm, I will take that role since the board Green Eyed Monster is already taken.
  24. He knows the MAC and has won in the MAC. The experience at Kansas only helps him. I would certainly consider him.
