  1. BTW, Seth Price, who is pictured in the photo, was one of the kids JD brought in during the football recruiting wars.Go Zips!!
  2. And when you read their rationale and excuses ("hey, he served his time" Marshall-like banter) for wanting this guy, it is also laughable. Maybe they should view some of the court transcipts of his trial. He (the "student") should be thanking the justice system for the veritable slap on the wrist he was given in comparison to his acts of commision and omission in the case. His "best" friend lay dying in the street and he went back to the young man...not to help him but to retrieve the frickin' cell phone they had stolen together earlier that evening. He then left the scene, allowing his buddy to bleed out. I hope his new teammates aren't looking for him to watch their backs! This kid has some serious issues, despite his apparent talent.
  3. Maybe Coach Amstutz's recruiting "tool" of Big East entry in a "couple of years" may have to wait as a result of this development. The wild-eyed optimists and apologists at Toledo will say this "doesn't matter" and that they won't skip a beat in their program---but it WILL matter, whether they choose to admit it or not.Weren't some of their posters (and Can't's, too) ragging on their academic superiority to us...particularly of late??? Well, this is a quantifiable slap back at both at them.Go Zips!!
  4. Dude, the game was within 5 points with only about 2 min. left..........the only reason you won by 15 was with foul shots, a few lay-ups, etc. A very close game between probably the MAC's 2 best teams--I think we all know who is truly better. If you analyze the rest of the season, it is looking like we will meet in the 2nd round of the MAC tourney at the Q (3 vs. 6 game). On a neutral court, I say OHIO wins 9 of 10 times.....the only reason you squaked it out today was with the home court advantage. BEAT YOU SOON!GO OHIO! :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: Hey, I think I read the gist of this post elsewhere by another Ohio poster. Could this be a part of the burgeoning plaguarism scandal that is breaking in Athens? Are these guys part of this new trend? Or, is he majoring in revisionist history at OU? And since we were ONLY down by three at the buzzer in Athens, by your theory, we are the superior team!!Screw the bobcrackers!!Go Zips!!
  5. Good for Andy. I am sure his work ethic is contagious among the rest of the 0-line and the team as a whole. We all want him (and all the men) to have huge years!!Go Zips!!
  6. I do not have a problem with this fg %. But his ft % and his fouls per game need work. I know KD and staff have seen this kid play and stats do not always tell the whole story, so I am confident in their wisdom.Bottom line--the future looks bright. And so does the present!!Go Zips!!
  7. It looks like he dominated in some games on the boards, yet in others he was barely a factor. What would concern me is his free throw % as well. It, of course, is hard to figure all of the rebounding and scoring stats unless we research who Oak Hills was playing, who he matched up against, etc. It is probably fair to say that, while Cincy area bball has some talented players, most of them are not receiving D-1 scholarships. In this regard, I believe he should be more dominant with more regularity. The free throw % really should be an area where he needs to work.Go Zips!!
  8. Please DO NOT release this info for the general public. Frank Solich does NOT need to know about the draft beer deal. --it is a hell of a drive back to Athens!!Go Zips!!
  9. I really like Frenchie and his call of the games. He is a passionate homer (and I think that is ok). He is always willing to discuss ZIP athletics on his Monday call in show without equivocation. Dunn, I could take or leave.By comparison, Bill Needle on the Can't State network is (for me) almost impossible to listen to, frankly. I am thankful that listening to him is only occasioned by my turn of the radio dial.Go Zips!!
  10. Thank you Wooster Red Steve! I read in Sports Illustrated that the Hawkskins have reached the pinnacle of collegiate hockey. That duplicates what the Zips were able to do earlier this year in the world's most popular sport. Ohhhh -- you probably forgot that real men play SOCCER -- that's one of those sports Miami had to cut out because of BUDGET difficulties! I realize that budgets are getting squeazed in the Old School parts of the MAC, like Toledo and Oxford. Meanwhile, in Akron we have spent over $200M for a little campus "sprucing up", and in what should be just a few more months, we'll be discussing the start of construction for our new on-campus football stadium -- allowing us to blow away the rest of the MAC in facilities. Steve, things are looking so bright in Akron, I hear they're wearing in the JAR.BTW Roos -- think VOLLEYBALL -- as in MEN's VOLLEYBALL. If we start a team next fall we could still enjoy the play of Capt Kangaroo's favorite ex-Zip [AGAIN!]. Of course I'm referring to the former Hoban HS all-stater, who once played for his very popular father on the hardwood. And maybe we could scare up his girlfriend again. What ever happened to her, anyway? Is she hogging the Stetson Hatters' board? Question:When Miami had a golf team, were they called the ForeSkins? I think she would be on the Jacksonville University Dolphins board--that is where the Hoban grad transferred.Jacksonville is 1-22 this year. Sucks to be them!!Go Zips!!
  11. Speaking of mugshots, did you guys post your kicker Parseghian's mug shot after his arrest? Shoplifting in Oxford. I would have expected one of your law grads to have defended him. Oh, I forgot, you don't have any.Go Zips!!
  12. Yeah, I think you are stuck with Shane Montgomery for a while, too. What a relief for us. Oh I know of your football domination with us in the past, but the worm will turn.Go Zips!!
  13. Thanks for the clarification. I thought there was a reason he was so "intimately" familiar with the program.Go Zips!!
  14. Let me know when you are heading to Saskatoon, eh? I understand that several hockey recruits are looking at Cryami and Lake Superior State. It may come down to the beer selection available in town.Go Zips!!
  15. And all this time I was thinking Mankato State was the darling of the NCAA Hockey world!!!Live and learn.Go Zips!!
  16. So it is a BYOB event, right?? Go Zips!!
  17. Depth is what oftentimes separates us from our "bigger" opponents. I think, as stated by UADavid, that this is what will make a difference.Go Zips!!
  18. I thought the Rowdies did pretty well last night. It (the Rowdies noise) helps to get some of the other sedate folks pumped. As usual, many pulses need to be checked for signs of life for folks in the reserved sections. There were moments of loud "brilliance" (as with Witherspoon's melt-down), but I agree there could be more noise and mayhem.I'm wondering if those watching ONN could discern any difference in crowd noise with the Rowdies now versus the past? I know that the physical placement of student seating at the JAR gives a much different look than, for example many Big Ten or ACC venues, where the student section is visible for broadcasts. Go Zips!!
  19. We have got to make our free throws. Too many potential close games down the stretch.
  20. Wow!!!How huge would that be for us?? Scout.com lists him as a five star!!!! Lets see, a veteran and deep O-Line, studs in the backfield, an improving group of receivers with some new recruits with a big upside, a qb with experience and some more with great potential, an experienced d......look out MAC...the 'Roo trains a'comin' and it is gonna run over you.Go Zips! (Detect unbridled enthusiasm!!!!!)
  21. Way to go, mom! This is great news for the ZipsNation.
  22. Yes, let us talk about the "truth". Telling recruits that Toledo might be in the Big East in a couple of years is okay with you, is an effective recruiting tool, and is your version of the "truth".What sayeth you truthteller?
  23. Hey, now that the BobCrackers have lost again, isn't it time for them to be calling for Tim O'Shea to be run out of Athens on a rail? Two weeks ago, he was Adolph Rupp incarnate and now he is drek! Those guys are sooooo funny.
