Are you serious? This is the funniest post yet.

Typically the judge will explain the charges being brought against the defendant. We should have a little better idea of what he is looking at. You are right though, we probably wont hear much from Alex.
I called him a punk for doing such a stupid, selfish thing and scarring the university, fans, teammates and kids who follow. I am fully aware of "innocent until proven guilty" and I will eat my words and apologize if he is a victim here, but I am telling you I highly doubt it. If he is a victim and innocent, I hope he is vindicated. If he is guilty, I hope he gets what he deserves (nothing more).

Did you just compare the level of privilege of A-Rod and Lance Armstrong (another guy clearly about as in love with himself as you are) to Abreu? I don't even know how to respond to that.
No, you are missing my point. I DO NOT HAVE SYMPATHY and will not pray for the people my kids go to see play, watch on TV and wait for their autographs. Each one of the people mentioned above has done something illegal. Their impact, based on their fame, has varying degrees but their impact is negative all the same. Why should I care so much about them. All I am saying is that I care more about the people/kids they influence (negatively).

Take down the banners with him on them ASAP. If this is all true, I hope they lock up the punk and make and example out of him.

I think a lot of what you said is true in the sense that expectations are to go to the NCAA Tourney. When we win the game that clinches that for us, I am sure there will be a lot of excitement. I also have to believe there is a bit of a hangover from the streak ending and the possibility of an automatic berth ending. I know personally if we don't make it to the NCAAs, I will be dissappointed. I felt the same way when the soccer team got knocked out and did not win another championship in Caleb's final year. Was it a successful year for them.......yes, BUT expectations are different.
I think the expectations for our basketball team are also different now and I want to see Zeke end his career in style and see these guys make a run in the tourney (which I think they can do).

This is the tough part of the OOC schedule that the Zips signed up for this season:
#27 Oklahoma State, neutral site
#53 Tennessee, neutral site
#25 North Carolina State, neutral site
#22 Middle Tennessee, home
#40 Creighton, away
#60 Detroit, away
#84 North Dakota State, home
Seven top 100 RPI teams, including four top 50, is a robust OOC schedule. Cleveland State was also expected to be a top 100 team before injuries struck. Unfortunately, losing Tree and Harney for the first three games of the season cost the Zips the Oklahoma State win, which put them in the PR tournament consolation bracket and lost the Tennessee and North Carolina State matchups. Even losing those two games, the Zips still have the #54 OOC SOS in the country. There are only three mid-majors ranked ahead of the Zips that have better OOC SOS -- Gonzaga, Middle Tennessee and Belmont. Certainly with the type of team the Zips have now, and which they should also have next season and beyond, they should continue to try to increase OOC SOS a little more each season. But they had a reasonable OOC SOS this season.
We beat Penn State too, who just beat #4 Michigan. That should help

That arena looks pretty packed.
Note to the Athletic Dept: Don't build an arena we can fill up once or twice a year following a sweet 16 run.
Huh? So you want them to build another JAR"ish" arena? What would be the point? THINK BIGGER
-
Hmmm, where was our soccer team ranked in the polls and RPI - I don't hold much hope on anything that has to do with the NCAA.
-
Our present is better - we beat them this year and have the longest winning streak in the country.
Our future is brighter - We have coach Dambrot for a long time, a great core of players, great new players coming in and the possibility of a new arena that (if built to the same quality as Info) will make discussion of the JAR a moot point and make us even more attractive.
Who cares about anything else? We are really good
-
yea, and everyone plays "we are the champions, etc, etc"...and all the other sports tunes, who cares...........they are fun, and the fact that we get to sing that we have won is FUN.

Bitter dude that wrote that and obviously has it out for the MAC. Funny thing is all he talks about is football, is his blessed WAC viable in any other sports?

"Te'o's father, Brian, told the Tribune in October 2012. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there."
I am totally stuck on this. If his father actually made this comment.....to me the whole Teo family coordinated this whole thing and the father is a sick fucko to be a part of it.

I have always though the same thing. Cameron is not big..I dont think it has loges either, in fact it reminds me of the JAR in size. You do not appoach it and say WOW (outside of the beautiful campus surrounding it). I am not an engineer but I think it seems possible to retrofit the JAR with all chairback seats to seat 5K and be loud as shit. G t rid of the f(^*ing track.
Make it quaint, intimate, loud, cool, fun....and ultimately exclusive.

I've seen references here and heard references outside this forum that suggest that Duke's basketball facility is nothing more than a little high school gym. Cameron Indoor Stadium was designed in 1935 and construction was completed in 1940. While it may be gym-like in design, the original seating capacity was 8,800, with enough standing room for another 700 and a total capacity of 9,500. So while it's not fancy in comparison to modern arenas, it was no small gym when it was built. But it's certainly a good point to note that a good, winning basketball team like Duke does not necessarily require a state-of-the-art arena to draw big crowds.

I am so confused
Help me out....
SO THERE IS NO LENNAY KEKUA?
IS THERE A REAL GIRL AT ALL?
IF THIS WAS ALL MADE UP BY TEO, WHAT DID HE EXPECT TO GAIN? HE WAS ALREADY REVERED, THOUGHT TO BE TOTAL CLASS AND WAS/IS ABOUT TO BECOME A MULTIMILLIONARE
"Te'o's father, Brian, told the Tribune in October 2012. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there." - IF THE FATHER DID SAY THIS AND WAS A PART OF THIS, HE IS A SICK %$#*
BUT THEN HE APPARENTLY SAY IN SI INTERVIEW
"And it was around this time that Manti and his father began filling in details about the linebacker's relationship with Lennay. Brian Te'o told multiple reporters that the family had never met Kekua; the Te'os were supposed to spend time with her when they visited South Bend, Ind., for Notre Dame's Senior Day on Nov. 17. The elder Te'o told the South Bend Tribune in October, "[W]e came to the realization that she could be our daughter-in-law. Sadly, it won't happen now." - HUH?
"Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly awards the game ball to Lennay Kekua, handing it to Te'o to "take back to Hawaii." - IS HE THAT STUPID?
I AM WATCHING INTERVIEWS WITH MANTI TALKING ABOUT HOW SHE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN HE EVER MET, ETC.

I had one more thought around the 5 seed selection by the NCAA (bear with me because I live right in the middle of ACC country). All agree there is not logical or mathematical reason for the 5 seed based on our RPI and Coaches Poll ranking....the big win comment made to our AD is total BS.
How about this........Caleb Porter is leaving UofA and the NCAA. He has been great for NCAA soccer and brought popularity to the game. As I said, I live in the middle of ACC and my friends talk about loving to watch my team play.
Now that Caleb is leaving, is this a bit of an F U to UofA (we are going to put you back in your place type thing). Seriously, think about why Ken Lolla left. He could not win a championship at Akron and the MAC, but Caleb did it. What conference is Lousville in? What conference got 3 of the top 4 seeds.
Just sayin'
-
It may also be useful to remind the committee that the Zips have a quality win at #8 Creighton that was stolen away by a 100% imaginary offside.
How about.......UCONN did not even make it to the final of their own Conference championship. So theoretically they are the 3rd or 4th best team in their own conference which I guess the NCAA deems to equate to the 4th best team in the entire country. Hell, why do the rest of us play if the Big East is so good.

I sent this to the contact on the NCAA Men's College Soccer committee (not holding my breath for an response but I feel a little better now)
Ms. Keller,
As one of many angry Akron soccer fans, I would like an explanation how the University of Akron was given a #5 seed in this year’s NCAA Men's soccer tournament. As I look at your website, Akron is ranked number one in the coaches poll and number 2 in the RPI however when it came time to seed the teams and reward them with home field advantage for your NCAA tournament they were given a #5 seed.
Akron has ended their regular season by winning their last 14 games (giving up only ONE goal and posting 13 shut outs). They made it to the 3rd round of the NCAA tournament in 2011, WON the National Championship in 2010 and tied Virginia in the National Championship in 2009. In addition to all of this we have an incredibly loyal (and disappointed) fan base that consistently averages in the top 5 in attendance year after year. I realize past records do not dictate this years seedings but the point is that we are not a flash in the pan team.
How can you explain this? What is the point in having a coaches poll or a RPI ranking if the decisions will simply be made subjectively?
I would appreciate a response,
A Zips Fan

I cannot help but think of the terrible offsides call against Creighton that turned our win in to a draw
What I dont understand is the NCAA bias in soccer. We have one of the best attendance records in college soccer. If they want to promote popularity and put asses in the seat, we are even more of an attractive team to give home field advantage to. I get it a little more with football where attendance jumps dramatically for the bigger schools but this makes absolutely no sense.
-
skip....i think some of the replacement refs are actually MAC refs. If I understand correctly the higher level refs are part of the same union as the NFL refs or have some agreement with them in hopes of getting called up. So if poor refereeing drives them to us we'll then drive them back right?
That call cost me money. Green Bay was favored by 3. Maybe the ref had money on Seattle........just sayin'
