Very nice and well deserved....
-
I would just like to see what it is going to look like. Any idea when we might see the final plans?
-
Chris Berman could have a blast if the final four included the Zips, Nanooks, and Beavers.

I missed last season, but he is still .500 and above his two predecessors.J.D. Brookhart - 13W-11L - MAC Champion, Motor City Bowl - .542 winning % -
That is good enough for me. Seriously, I do not understand how anyone could question J.D. For those that want the facts - here you go..................During the last 20 yearsJ.D. Brookhart - 13W-11L - MAC Champion, Motor City Bowl - .542 winning %Lee Owens - 40W-61L - no MAC Champion, No Bowl appearance - .396 winning %Gerry Faust - 43-W-53L-3T - No Bowl appearances - .449 winning %U of A has an all-time winning % of .513, J.D. is above it.The highest winning percentage was John Heisman at .750, with a record of 8-6. He has a cool trophy named after him.Actually, it proves he can win the MAC Championship and take us to a bowl game. -
The offseason is brutal....

Hey Braylon! Here is another MAC quarterback who transitioned pretty well.....ever heard of Ben Roethlisberger.Rookie year - stepped into the starting role and became unquestionably the best rookie quarterback to ever play the game. He led the Steelers to a 15-1 record as a starter, losing only in the AFC Championship game, and set many rookie passing records, including best passer rating (98.1), and highest completion percentage (66.4%). Following his rookie season - Superbowl Champion with a run in the playoffs defeating Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Denver all on the road. From Findlay, OH, and Miami University... the youngest quarterback to ever win the Super Bowl!Fortunately for Ben, he had protection and capable receivers.

And Kudos to J.D. for bring him here as a guard. You could say he is one of J.D.'s recruits, honestly I'm not sure we would have gotten him without J.D. That goes for Luke too!
-
It's great for Jason and a total diss on Akron. C'mon guys.
-
I did not like the part where they said "they did'nt even know where he played".
-
Wow, what happened to Daniel Bazuin from Central Michigan. He was/is a beast!
-
I am really excited to see Gary Pride. Guys like him, small and quick, can drive people crazy. With our depth at RB, where does he fit in?
-
Agreed. I just found it amusing. I think this is the best part...................I don't think we should get too worried about writing style and mistakes on a sports web page.I do beleive that I am making use of the education that I received ........... -
I wanted to pull this off the David Harvey thread. I realize this board is used primarily to discuss athletics, but we also have to be concerned about our academic reputation. The post from Zip Alum has me concerned about the staff in our English department.
Zip Alum - if you are going to try and make a point about spelling, GRAMMAR, and punctuation, you may want to run your post through spell-check first. Your post has 5 typos in it and is difficult to read. I will help you a bit and I don't have a minor in English......Having graduated with a minor in English, one of my "pet peeves" concerning the internet is the fact that all too many people completely ignore spelling, grammer, punctuation, etc. I don't beleive that I am being anal retentive or anything, I do beleive that I am making use of the education that I received from the University of Akron. Also this post is not to call ayone names, embarrass anyone, of belittle others, but to make the point it is easier to read well written, properly spelled, gramatically correct posts.grammer = grammarAyone = anyonebeleive = believegramatically = grammatically

I doubt he is "under the radar". Not when your brother is the incumbent Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL. How about "Taylor Stadium", that might do it!

No Duke sympathy.....I just thought it was stupid and not very clever. The signs are clever, the song gives me a headache. I am from Maryland, I would have expected something better. Heck the guys at MACbbs take better jabs than this. No sense in arguing, I just thought it SUCKED.Ok. I thought it was good. I too hate Duke...just because. You gotta admit, at the very least, it was creative. Do I sense some Duke sympathy, a-zip? I agree that the signs are also the best part of the video. It made me laugh out loud, litterally. Oh...and I hope sometime in the future we have some AK Oldies painting their faces for the big games. I agree that passionate fans arent an embarrasment. -
That is really stupid. It is funny how they make fun of Duke fans camping out to see a game because "they have nothing better to do", but they have time to make a stupid video. In the video, they say Duke sucks because;Christian Laettner had a bad pro career? - what does that have to do with Duke other than he played 4 years and got his degree. People paint their faces and dress up? - yes they have great fansThey wore short shorts in the 80s? - who didnt? At least their asses are not hanging outCoach K looks like a llama? - couldnt think of anything else to say I guess. He is going to go down as one of the best coaches of all time. All players are white? - Wow, Don Imus made a comment similar to this and he is getting crucified. That is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

Can't wait to see you in our uniform Steve. You are about to become part of history at U of A!
-
You are right. We should all change our predictions to 12-0 with our first appearance to a BCS game.OMG...I hope our players don't read this thread. If they think like this, then UA has NO CHANCE. And, I personally don't want them to live down to these expectations. -
No kidding. This is disturbing......where is he?Any idea where David Harvey is -- I know JD said he was handling personal business I hope thats not code for he's gone and we don't want to talk about it. -
Any word on the health of Aaris Reed and Alex Allen? Anxious to see both of these guys.

The bad news is another conference, Colonial, is making a move past the MAC further limiting additional bids for us. Last year they had George Mason, the VCU win adds more credibility to them.SEE ya, Duke! 6-seed??? Yeah, right. About as right as one of the other crap decisions the NCAA made on Sunday - leaving Akron out of the NIT. Fun to hear the crowd on the neutral floor rooting for VCU. Don't ya just HATE it, Duke, when you have to play OOC away from home?!? -
So, we despise Ohio State (because we consider them our "rivals"), but we cheer for Miami? Consider me befuddled. And consider me a Ducks fan for a day.
Don't be befuddled. And Go Redhawks! -
Oh well, as many people have already said.......It is time to start looking forward. I certainly hope KD does not get too discouraged by the recent events and starts to think about moving on. He has made great strides here and the team seems poised to continue progress with great new recruits and in a strange way I think we have gotten good exposure through this whole ordeal. Although they are key players, we only lose two seniors from this team. This has been a frustrating week but the future is bright.KD has a chance to be a legend here. There is no reason we could'nt consistently make the NCAAs every year. The key is for the administration to realize how important KD is to building that reputation. In most cases we are a stepping stone for hot young coaches. In KD's case I think we have a rare opportunity to keep one of the top coaches in the NCAA for his career.

It is a smart route to take for him and us if DLs are tough to recruit out of HS. Cmon Ryan, maybe you will get to play against the Iowa and kick their ass.
