On the bright side, a wet field generally is a disadvantage to the faster team. It may help us!!

Too bad Luke won't get to play them. Would have made for a nice story. I only hope JD is around for it.

This is a stupid question but I will ask anyway. Regarding attendance......is there any consideration given to the compromises we make to play on Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Thanksgiving day blizzards. Needless to say it does create conflict with the fans.I can't imagine many programs filling a stadium on Thanksgiving with the weather we had.Dont blast me!

Louisville landingWhile Lolla and Akron had agreed in principle in November to a contract extension, he was not scheduled to actually sign the contract until March of 2006. That window allowed senior associate athletics director Julie Hermann to contact Lolla the Thursday before the College Cup, and he visited the campus that Sunday and Monday, then made his decision on Tuesday.Matt Wallerstedt Named to Ron Prince's staff on Dec. 27, 2005, Wallerstedt comes to K-State following a successful two-year run at Akron, where he served as the Zips associate head coach, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.During his stay at Akron, Wallerstedt helped usher forth a stunning turnaround that saw the Zips win their first Mid-American Conference championship and earn their first bowl berth (the 2005 Motor City Bowl) in just his second season with the program.During 2005, Wallerstedt saw two of his players earn All-MAC honors as linebackers Brion Stokes and Jay Rohr were named to the league's second team and honorable mention squads, respectively. Wallerstedt also helped completely transform the Zips' defense. The unit finished the 2005 regular season ranked first in the MAC in total defense. Akron also made a 75-spot improvement on the NCAA's total defense chart, improving from No. 98 in 2004 to No. 23 in 2005.Shaka Smart Named Clemson Assistant Coach Shaka Smart, most recently the associate head coach at Akron the last three seasons, has been named an assistant basketball coach at Clemson. Tiger Head Coach Oliver Purnell made the announcement Wednesday. Smart replaces Kevin Nickelberry, who resigned earlier this month to become the head coach at Hampton University. Badgers name Wright assistant coach Julie Wright, previously the head softball coach at Akron for two seasons, has been hired as an assistant UW softball coach, head coach Chandelle Schulte announced. The Zips finished with a 26-25 record this spring, qualifying for the Mid-American Conference tournament for the first time in four years. She also previously served as the top assistant at the University of Kansas. She played outfield and Pry new Tight End CoachUniversity of Illinois head football coach Ron Zook announced today the hiring of former Akron offensive coordinator Jim Pry to serve as offensive assistant and tight ends coach. Pry brings more than 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, including over 14 seasons as an offensive coordinator, to the Illini staff.Terrell Williams is in his first season as defensive line coachHe was named to the position Feb. 27, 2006. Williams came to the Boilermakers from Akron, where he coached the defensive line in 2004 and 2005. The Zips, who opened the 2005 season with a 49-24 loss at Purdue, went on to win the Mid-American Conference championship game over Northern Illinois 31-30 and played in the Motor City Bowl. The league championship and bowl appearance were both firsts in school history. Nose guard Kiki Gonzalez was named all-conference in 2005. who left his post in February to take an assistant coaching position at Purdue University.I may have missed somebody.........sorry

Hope he makes it!!

F the stadium right now. The foundation comes from the coaching staff. The excuse has always been that "we did not have a winner.....If we won, people will come to the games...blah blah blah". Well, wins are what is being delivered, and BTW the stadium is not near capacity (even the seats that don't have splinters). We are building a winner, the coaches and players they are bringing in are making that happen. The Ws did not come from a "home field advantage".Here is my scenario...............1- Give the coaches sick packages with revenue sharing for new venues.2- Football - Upset a BCS team, get ranked, win the MAC Championship, Nice Bowl Bid, win the Bowl game.3- Soccer - begin the season with a top 10 ranking and veteran team, finish in top 5, get a rightful seed and play for the title. (we already lost that coach, but I won't go there)4- Basketball - Begin the season in top 40, get some wins, pack the JAR, win the MAC, nice seed in the NCAAs, win a game or two.Chris Berman will be singing our praises again 5 - UA admin sees teams win = 20k avg for football = 6k avg for BBall = hmm, we do have the fan base = lets INVEST in nicer venues and properly fund these badboys. Lets publish the plans for the new stadiums.6- JD, KD, Caleb go to recruits content, excited and get top players. For the fiscally responsible people here, lets look at it this way....Stadium cost 70+ million with interest vs. Coach raises at $500K (heck, lets be stupid and give em' a package worth a mill).

That is exactly my point, thank you. Also add higher quality home schedules, television exposure, more applications, higher quality students, more donations.

.I will be pissed if we screw up K.D.

If George Mason can do it, why can't we? Read the link below regarding the impact it has on the entire University. If we could keep TWO coaches in major sports and get a buzz going, everyone will prosper.George Mason BasketballDetails of new deal for Larranaga

Too many sidebars from other topics on this subject, so I figured I would try and dedicate this one to our most important priority..... Keeping JD & KD.I have posted along time ago here and on MCABBs that in order for the MAC to get competitive we need to keep great coaches. A consistent/winning coach will springboard us and the MAC above other conferences. We are not that far behind CUSA and the BigEast. Lets get rid of the "Cradle of Coaches" tag and keep these guys.Ideas on how to do it?Bump up the salaries and pay MAJOR bonuses for post season wins. Everything will snowball with increased attendance- TV games, better homegame schedule, and recruits that will want to play in a system and coach they know will be there for their collegiate career. New stadium is important too, give them a % of the gate. 10K at the Rubberbowl or 30K at a new stadium on campus (which is not unrealistic). The net gain is better for the U.We have the guys RIGHT NOW to do it. Lets not blow it and have to start over. Prove Lolla wrong!

Miami O is the only school with consistent performance across sports to be having conference jump considerations.
-
Don't forget JD was a receiver himself and has coached some pretty good ones through the years.

A question was asked earlier about future NFL prospects. In two years Jabari Arthur will be a top 5 wide receiver draft pick...... 6-4, 224 (A bigger Hines Ward)He is going to light it up this year and have great QBs to groom his senior year. If he has accepted the position, he is going to be GREAT!
