  1. BTW- Lets not necessarily focus on the numbers or percentages but more on a creative way to keep great coaches and incent him to help us build something. We can't pay BCS money for mediocrity in the MAC but if can make headlines, play on T.V and postseason, that is worth a lot to the school, alum, etc. Make em' rich for doing that.
  2. How about MAJOR bonuses for postseason play that would equate to BCS money. Make it incentive laden.....MAC East Champs - $50kMAC Champs - $100k AND then give him a percent of the draw (say 40%) from whatever bowl we get in......If we have a year like last year he would get $450,000 in bonuses on top of salary.....Get us to the Alamo, he might make 1 MILLion Dollars. (Where is Doctor Evil?) 3. As long as the recruits dont read about Ken Lolla....I like the thinking though
  4. Dan/RasorI dont want to speak for everyone but I was expecting there to be more based on the ..........that's all. You sure had me on pins and needles. The story itself is interesting from the standpoint of how the players and coaches view Walther. I also believe Walther's comments/quotes show he is disruptive to a team and immature. I would have characterized this this as more of a Terrell Owens situation, not Chris Webber/Troy Smith. I dont see this as a big deal.BTW- I enjoy your blog very much
  5. Late in the season is hopefully when we will start getting more exposure. Personally I would rather look "up to date" "hip". I like the new jerseys and we are winning.
  6. If there is an NCAA violation and it has been confirmed, why have we not heard about it?
  7. I like the "glass half full" mentality but there is no way you could say any of these candidates are better qualified than Shawn Docking. The guy recruits in the middle of the ACC from a small school and makes it to the tourney. So he can recruit. He moves to the midwest and adapts. He has a nice story to tell from many different angles.Being a UA alum does not entitle him to the job, but it would be a nice story to tell recruits about. (Playing in the national championship against Duke). We missed the recruiting boat this year anyways.Think about staffing, strategy too. Our team is loaded to make a run, should be ranked top 10/5.I would love to have these other guys playing, but coaching? Is there any insight as to whether Shawn was pursued or interviewed?
  8. Not sure I understand your points, at all. Who here has the national reputation? Who has the best head coaching experience? Shaun's credentials blow them away and he is at COASTAL CAROLINA. Nothing against these other candidates....... We have blown a year of recruiting following a year where we were ranked NUMBER 1. What a trainwreck.Shaun Docking - is entering his eighth season as the head coach of Coastal Carolina University’s men’s soccer program. In his seven seasons at Coastal, Docking has led the Chanticleers to a 93-39-10 overall record, three Big South Conference Tournament Championships and four NCAA Tournaments. In addition to his professional and collegiate coaching experience, Docking is also very active in the Olympic Development Program.Mike Avery - Mike Avery begins his sixth season as an assistant coach at Notre Dame. In three campaigns as men's coach at Cal State San Bernardino, Avery led the Coyote program through a successful rebuilding campaign. Avery's '99 squad continued the trend of improving each year under his direction by finishing with an 8-11-1 record. In six seasons as a head men's coach, Avery has compiled a 62-58-5 (.516) mark. Caleb Porter - Caleb Porter is in his sixth season as an assistant coach at Indiana. At Indiana, Porter coordinates visiting team arrangements, home game planning, strength and conditioning, team equipment, alumni and player relations, and assists with recruiting, scouting of opponents and daily team training.Brad Agoos - In the coaching ranks, Agoos was a volunteer coach in 1998 for the University of San Francisco and in 1996 for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, which advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Agoos was also a player and coach for the Vermont Voltage (PDSL). In addition, he has expertise developing youth players, including in 1994-95 when he coached the Park Sharon Soccer Club in Charlotte, N.C.Bob Butehorn - The former head coach at St. Bonaventure, Butehorn coached the Bonnies from 1995-99, completely rebuilding the program both athletically and academically. He took a program that had consistently finished last in the Atlantic-10 conference to both a regional and national ranking.
  9. I guess this is why we have no coaches.......Kudos to Coach Lolla and staff. BAH bye to our only nationally ranked program.
  10. At the MCB, I heard he was being considered. Not sure if he is interested.....There were no comments on this? Out of sight out of mind? Dont think it is a big deal? Curious......
  11. We need to announce a successor now! This looks terrible.....elite 8 team ranked #1 for a good portion of the year WITH NO COACHES? What are the players thinking? What are recruits thinking? Do we have any recruits?Come on!Shaun Docking
  12. Can't wait to see him with Edwards and Winslow next year.
  13. Who said "Don't feed the troll"? Seems appropriate here..........
  14. I hate to lose, but I sure was proud of the school. Classy move when J.D. and the team applauded the fans before going in to the lockeroom. Hopefully the start of a great relationship between the school and community.
  15. You guys are missing the point. All I am saying is that we have a game to play on Monday and everyone (including coaches) needs to be focused on the task at hand. Leaving the next day for a new job does not lend itself to focus.
  16. Thanks Quickzip, that was my point exactly. Not once in the article does he mention WINNING the bowl game. That is the player's dream come true. I want a staff and players with one thing on their mind "WINNING THE MCB". It does not appear as though his head is 100% in to this game, that is not good. I would have atleast like to have seen "I am excited about going back to my alma mater, but we have unfinished business to take care of in Detroit, winning the MCB. These guys have given me their all and we are about to do something that has never been done before in the school's history". In this case, he does OWE us his commitment. Whatever he does after that is his choice and we wish him well.
  17. Are you kidding me! Why would players listen to a guy that wants to finish the game and go home. Hit the road, NOW! I don't want this in the lockeroom! Here is the link Wallerstedt Going Home!! Yipee
  18. And what do you expect to get from this other than a well crafted, politically correct report? Huh? Do you really think the other candidates would like that published? Not sure why you would make this post.......There are many factors that are obvious for Macks hire. Are you questioning Dr. Proenza? For this job, EVERYONE interviewed is qualified. Hiring and interviewing is an art not a science. Cmon Man, be happy. We have a great new A.D. and Associate A.D.
  19. Love it! Go Kiki! You should be PROUD!
  20. I was impressed with his press conference (webcast finally worked). He spoke without notes, delivered a solid message, addressed everyone by name, and seems to have a lot of passion. His experience at UTEP should be a great benefit to us and I would imagine that had a lot to do with his hiring. If he can replicate what was done at UTEP, cheers. For what it is worth, we now have Mack Rhoades and UAM..........pretty strong guys!
  21. We have beaten this in to the ground, but I have 1 more question for Zipper and Zipalong since you seem somewhat defensive of Coach Lolla. What is your take on Coach Lolla accepting a 5 year contract, and backing out 1 month later. The simple answer is family, goals, bla bla bla. But, why accept it?
  22. Based on this post, I would say it was user error.
  23. Someone is stepping in to a nice situation, keep the ball rolling.
