The bad news is another conference, Colonial, is making a move past the MAC further limiting additional bids for us. Last year they had George Mason, the VCU win adds more credibility to them.
-
So, we despise Ohio State (because we consider them our "rivals"), but we cheer for Miami? Consider me befuddled. And consider me a Ducks fan for a day.

Oh well, as many people have already said.......It is time to start looking forward. I certainly hope KD does not get too discouraged by the recent events and starts to think about moving on. He has made great strides here and the team seems poised to continue progress with great new recruits and in a strange way I think we have gotten good exposure through this whole ordeal. Although they are key players, we only lose two seniors from this team. This has been a frustrating week but the future is bright.KD has a chance to be a legend here. There is no reason we could'nt consistently make the NCAAs every year. The key is for the administration to realize how important KD is to building that reputation. In most cases we are a stepping stone for hot young coaches. In KD's case I think we have a rare opportunity to keep one of the top coaches in the NCAA for his career.

Any thoughts regarding the Bracketbuster game we basically had to take vs. Austin Peay and the impact it had on our postseason opportunities. If I remember correctly - we won the game and lost spots in AP poll, Mid-major poll and RPI.

Check out the numbers on some of the teams going to the NIT, makes it even more confusing. I ommitted the schools from the major conferences because we know why they are in. How/why would these high profile teams be picked ahead of us? First numbers are the records, second numbers are Sagarin Ratings, third numbers are the RPIs. Akron 25-7 59 67 Vermont 25-7 111 85 Marist 24-8 119 104 So. Alabama 18-11 147 127 E. Tenn St. 22-9 159 123  Austin Peay 19-11 161 117 Delaware St. 20-12 175 120 Miss. Valley St 18-15 254 200 Even if you factor in the "human element", why would these teams go ahead of us. Our team could be a great story with the Dambrot, Rome, Dru and Labron rooting them on. I have to imagine we are much more attractive than these powerhouses.

Great comments by all. Only thing I can add with regards to Dials is.....thank you for hitting two clutch free throws at the end of the game. Like extra points with our football team, I have come to expect misses.
-
Seriously. How can you call traveling at that point in the game unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE.
-
Yes. Dials has been getting fouled all game and no calls.
-
I cannot believe that
-
Wow, a nice late addition indeed at a position that needs it.. I was wondering what happened to this guy.
-
Great point. I wonder if Sweich was at the game.
-
Go Andy.......knock it out of the park!!!!
-
So what has become of this guy. He looks like a player..

I really like Gary Pride. I think he will give people fits, and likely contribute soon. I especially like this part.............GPA: 3.0

It is a fantastic class. J.D. is the man. Sorry Cincy

Well, that didnt line up right. Here are the important numbers; 6-14 Field goals22-28 Extra points

Here are our stats from last year..............................................................................FIELD GOALS FGM-FGA Pct 01-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-99 Lg Blk----------------------------------------------------------------- 2-8 25.0 0-0 0-1 0-2 2-4 0-1 46 1 4-6 66.7 1-1 1-2 2-2 0-1 0-0 35 0 Totals 6-14 42.8 1-1 1-3 2-4 2-5 0-1And we were 22-28 on extra points! (almost 1 of every 4 missed)

Anyone have insight towards our kicking situation next year. Are we recruiting kickers? Is Igor OK?
-
It's too bad we can't deny the game. Seriously, the Bracketbuster was designed to HELP Mid-Majors and it has become a joke. Schools deny postseason football bowl games.....can we say "no thank you" to the invite. Our RPI dropped from winning in the past week and will drop again if we be "the Peay". The other side of the coin is we play at the Peay next year, which will also unboubtably hurt us again. We already have enough scheduling problems, why take on more. We have nothing to gain.
-
Support the team, go to the games and the coaches will be more inclined to stay...........see Ken Lolla.
-
I meant to copy the comment about KD is no fool. If the community won't support the team, I couldnt blame him for moving on. If it happens, I may disown my alma mater.
-
Agreed.............see Bob Huggins.
-
It could be a misunderstanding. I think it is more likely that it is Nate Robinson from the NY Knicks (the 5'9" that stuffed Yao Ming)

If Brookhart has another losing season next year..
a-zip replied to InTheZone's topic in Akron Zips Football
I am shocked at this poll/question. J.D. has been here for three years. In year one, he got Charlie to stay, beat Can't and we narrowly missed our first bowl bid thanks to Michigan State blowing a 21 point lead. He got Luke to transfer and dialed in his first good recruiting class. Successful first year.Year two, beat Can't, MAC Champs, first bowl appearance and some incredible come from behind victories. As Chris Berman said "its a great time to be a zip". Another good recruiting class follows. Unfortunately he loses a large majority of his staff.Year three, good showing at Penn State, come from behind victory at NC State. (Oh BTW, when did you ever see ESPN switch an Akron game from ESPN2 to ESPN during the middle of the game). First home game attendance 16K...sad. Harvey Named Freshman All-American. One other note - he brought in one of the top kicking recruits last year who got injured. If he plays and is as good as advertised year three could have been a lot different.Going in to year four, another good recruiting class is teed-up and J.D. gets contract extension (somebody values him). Next year may be rough start because we will be starting a first year QB, but there are some nice candidates to chose from (Jackson/Hakes). Lets hope we have another LaFevour ready to step in.So, I have to ask the questions - In the last 20 years, when has our football program looked better? Who could we get to do a better job? From the existing roster, here are our Freshman and Sophomores. Nice foundation!!! 26 Allen, Alex RB 6-0 203 So.
