One thing is for sure, the Cowboys are ticked about this news......
-
Unfortunately it looks like Miami is back.Kokal is out and the strong-armed QB from Texas is in....Too bad we couldn't find a Texas H.S. QB to play...
-
That is what I was told...
-
Talked to him on Sunday. He is still in school. He will be ready to go once the second semester starts..

Army 13Zips 14 Final

Boy it's just not as fun to argue on here as it was in person. I will certainly miss that this fall..Since I've made so many new friends on the other posts, figured it was again time to add my two cents.Since about 2001 you've made the same argument when it comes to Frye. (at least you have been consistent) While I would certainly not dispute the facts, yes he had a losing record- to continually call him out for his record is getting really old. You make it sound like he took over a sound/winning program and took it to hell. In the end he was just another qb in a long history of Zip qb's that ended with a losing record. What other qb in the last 20 years ended with a winning record who had at least 15 starts? Mike Johnson? In 2005 all we heard was that Luke was a winner.....great!! By the end of 2006, his record ended just like most others....sub .500.No one wants to win more than I do..but to continually place all the "losing" blame on Frye is ridiculous. Many of former Zip qb's have been there before him. He just happened to be the most talented.(in my UA tenure)

AWESOME! Keep donating! Thanks for the kind words....I don't have the time to answer the other questions..But you can be assured that I've been to a game or two....And I am certainly not jealous of anything with the name BUCK in it..

BZ- You're welcome. What I'm really asking for is that a-holes like BZ, ZipGrad01 and SGM get the hell off the board. GO AWAY. There are plenty of tosu boards to post on....Go and "defend" "your" team someplace else.BTW, yes -A good-faith negotiation to increase the payout was in order since neither AD signed the deal and the payout was under fair market value. And if they wouldn't renegotiate, Mack should have gotten out of the deal.
-
Yes, this game was scheduled years ago.....and Thomas blew this one.....big time. In fact, neither current AD scheduled this game....and tosu refused to renegotiate to current payout rates...I know, here we go...all the luckeye losers who post on this board will argue that there is no reason to renegotiate....Well, if so, then enough with the bull crap that comes out of c-bus and Jimmy McSweaterVest's mouth that tosu just wants to keep the revenue in state.No. He is all about attempting to buy victories......if you want to call a $375K payout buying...

Patriot Bowl seats for Season Tix holders
Zips Win! replied to doccomet87's topic in Akron Zips Football
For a reserve season ticket holder, what is UA charging for an extra ticket to the Army game? -
Hey BZ, what do you mean by this comment? We? You are just another tosu idiot clogging up the board. Take sgm with you and just go away......
-
Here we go again, more idiots, i.e. tosu faithful, defending the scrubs in c-bus on a Zip board. Just go away and find another board. Screw Zwick! He should be the poster boy for you idiots referenced above who constantly clamor that the "best" recruits need to head south. Well, good for him, he got to sit the bench for most of his carrer.Believe it or not, the Zips and fellow MAC schools have one of the most important features to offer recruits--Playing time-- yet so many feel the need to go to a BCS school....and sit and sit and sit. Hope he enjoyed those splinters.

He also thinks Harvey is returning this year...

I don't think so....I would vote for a coat and tie as well. However, when I see hockey coaches wearing a coat and tie, that seems a bit out of place as well.Whatever....... just tell Belicheck to get rid of that sweatshirt....

I read in the C-bus Dispatch that our own Chris McKinght from Lancaster (unfortunately they did not give the Zips any love as we were not mentioned) has been the leader for Team Ohio in the Bari International under-19 basketball tournament in Carovigno, Italy.Thorugh the first four games Chris has been a solid double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 105-75 win over Cisternino, Italy; 23 and 11 in a 112-66 win over Teramo, Italy; 15 and 10 in a 71-62 won over Lithuania; 25 and 20 in a 109-85 win over Canada. Team Ohio is supossed to Russia in the finals. Kudos to Chris. In an unrelated note, the CD also mentioned that Tyler Campbell of Pickerington North has signed to play football with the Zips. Can anyone confirm?

Zips Golf Outing Reminder - June 11th
Zips Win! replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I hear even non-golfers can attend the steak dinner for $35... -
Amen. Although Johnson quit on the team as well and shoulders part of the blame. As for JD, I don't think many on this board are asking for him to be replaced. They just aren't ready ready to annoint him the next great BCS-type coach. While the "backing-in" comments are actually incorrect as it relates to getting into the 2005 MACC, "back(ing)-down is more appropriate. He went from 6-2 to 5-3 to 3-5 to who knows what after watching the spring game. Many fans are concerned, as I am.Someone on this board made the comment 15 minutes after the 2004 season concluded "with JD, we can look forward to a minimum of 7 wins a season". Well, he got to 7 in 2005 with 2 extra games, and back to 5 last year.I hope your right, I just don't quite see it yet.....For my money and support, JD gets several more years to get it done.

I thought of the HW trade myself..this trade could be the "anti-HW" trade for the Cowboys. Good move PS.
-
More risky? I think it will encourage more traps and double teams as players/coaches/ teams will "give" the opposition the open (longer) shot.
-
I couldn't agree more.....and your best post to date.I will never forget the UCONN game when they completed about 12 passses to the TE on a little curl play.....at no point in the game did we realize what was happening and then stopped the play from being successful.

Closed to the public, are you frickin kidding me! What a joke? And they wonder why they have no following. They have a spring game open to the public with half the team not playing last Sunday. This Saturday sounds like the real spring game as it's at the END of spring practice and noboby can go. What the hell do they think they are hiding? For all my bitching that nobody goes to games, now I see why. I wouldn't go either after I witnessed last Sunday's waste of time. Let's run the ball into the line and run the clock out......but you can't watch the real spring game. Come on JD, clue in.The more I see (or don't see), the less I like with this staff.

Here we go again with another post exploring the options of joining the Big East! I just do not see why any other conference would want the Zips. What do we have to offer? Even with little to no respect, the MAC is still the best fit for us.GP1 wondered if Div 1AA was the way to go? Early in the LO tenure, I wondered often if moving back to IAA while devoting most of our budget to hoops was the way to go. After a decade (Fausty plus LO) of losing, even I thought it might be prudent to scrap the 1A exercise and move back. A good game here or a good game there might play out and then I thought otherwise. We went from basically V. Green and then J. Taylor in the NFL to adding more players with even more having tryouts. While we still did not win consistently, my opinion changed and now I want to continue playing D1 football. How do we make a full commitment to the athletic program? In a perfect world, the local community would support the team, the alumni would show up and give generously, local businesses would donate big bucks and advertise, etc. Unfortunately, NONE of this happens. How can we expect the MAC to garner any respect on a national level when 90% of the MAC alumni don’t care while many are more concerned with the big eleven. (Losing to Miami was another example—most alums were on to following you know who the next day and didn’t give what happened at the Q a second thought.) Winning will go a long way to changing attitudes, but we just haven’t be able to do it consistently. Furthermore, while I truly have no idea how the athletic department can operate when they are always in the red, but sometimes I wonder what they do all day. Over the long haul, many seem to be more concerned with what can I do now to put on my resume than planning for the overall long-tern success of the program. A little customer service would go a long way to getting people hooked to the athletic program. For now, the MAC is the place to be. Let’s start winning consistently and hopefully things will change.

Great article on what the MAC needs to do.
Zips Win! replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Finally some coverage from the local paper other than the obligatory story on spring practice! Is Tom felling well? Many good points and ideas on how the MAC can get better! One other major note not mentioned was that several MVC schools do not have football programs and the ones that do, are at the 1-AA level. Those schools are able to shift most of their athletic budget to basketball and it is paying off.
