Just guessing, but he's probably going to earn at least 25 to 50 percent more money in Columbus. If I got a raise like that, neither I not my family would consider it a step backwards. And if you want to be a head coach someday, adding a Big Ten team to your resume sure doesn't hurt.I wish the guy well. I also have faith that the coach who really matters isn't going anywhere any time soon.Go Zips! Good point. Maybe it is the case that KD intends to be here a very long time and there was no where to go? Just a thought.

Well, I don't know if this has been posted before, but it looks like we aren't the only ones with a new stadium this year. Pretty awesome I have to say. http://www.startribune.com/video/15375881.html

Good idea. Personally, I would like to see some type of buisness / technology incubator that is very visible. When I was in Kalamazoo, Mi two years ago, WMU had a very impressive incubator right by the freeway,...Engineering I think. I didn't even know WMU had an Engineering Dept, but by looking at that, you would think they really had a lot to offer. With that said, I'm going to take a different route. I think too much focus has been on building new structures. It looks amazing, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see more money put into academics and educational equipment. The band instruments are one example. I also saw that Toledo is starting a new green energy degree. I would like to see Akron to continue to develop into a technology leader and not just in the polymer area. -
Yes, totally agreed, we are going to have the most intimidating entrance in the MAC!

So, what color should it be? I've got three colors in mind, Blue, Gold, or Green....

I don't know if I would be down on players because they don't want to go to Akron right out of school. Hell, I grew up near Sandusky and I didn't even know UofA existed until someone from Akron came to my school my Senior year. I knew of all of the other Ohio MAC Schools at that point though. Given how amazingly lopsided the sports coverage is in this state (outside of Cincinnati.), I can see why if you want to play football and you want to stay in state, you see only one option. Is it frustrating, yes, but that is how I perceive it.

Maybe the scoreboard will be better to be steel, It might make it easier to expand in the future?? I never really liked the flags in the first place. I mean they are kind of pointless and I don't want to go to the nicest stadium in the country and have to see Can't, BG, Toldeo, and the rest of the mac teams flags. I've seen it done before, several basketball arenas have that, the MAC Center in Can't, Polumbo center at Duquesne, just the first two i could think of. But I mean put a few akron flags up and that will be just fine. The banners look ok, but also, kind of pointless....I like the idea of the MAC flags around the stadium actually. I think it would give the impression that ICS is the flagship (Pun intended) stadium in the MAC but I can't dispute that their only purpose is aesthetics. In the pictures they show them both on the West Facade of the stadium and surrounding the interior of the stadium. If I had to pick one between flags surrounding the stadium and on the West facade, it would be a tough trade as the ones in the stadium would add to the gameday atmosphere, but only for 6 games a year. The ones on the West facade would be visible to all year round.

Excellent point!

OK, back on topic. As I sit here at my computer, in front of me I have the premium seating brochure for InfoCision Stadium. I'm thinking to myself, this thing looks great, but what are they going to change from the pictures we've seen so far? Here's my guess:1) Scoreboard. They show a very nice scoreboard wrapped in brick. I think someone here pointed out that it was shown as being supported by steel in the model.2) Flags around stadium. They show all the flags of the MAC on the brochure but I have a hard time believeing they will go through with what I consider a great detail.3) Giant Banners on the side of the stadium. I know they were on the JAR, but I also see them killing these.

For some reason I gravitate towards team that never win the big championship in anything. I'm a Cleveland fan, except I really don't follow the Cavs.....I think I'm just bad luck.

Well Zips fans that i know that are also Suckeyes fans always say that they root for them because "they are close to us". So i'm rooting for Pitt now as my second team since they are 15 miles closer than Cowlumbus. So as much as i hate the steelers, The University of Pittsburgh is my new second fav school just to piss those people off. Hey it's closer!I'm a Shawnee state man myself.. As much as I hate rooting for a team from Sh*tsburgh I go with the Dukes of Duquesne University (as you can see in my sig), since I had a girlfriend that went there, probably the most nerdy school you will ever experience. idk if maybe all times I've been there they were having a chess convention or something, or maybe thats just the way they are there. I still root for them haha. Buts it always nice to steal their recruits...McNess!!!Duquense competes (or used to) against the Zips in Rifle. So, I see where we stand.....

A MAC team has won a National Championship. Bowling Green won in Hockey in 1984 i believe. I don't believe Miami would have brought the MAC a National Championship. I think they are in the CCHA for hockey.Miami is in the CCHA. How fitting though, i'm glad they lost. I hope it felt the same way that bank shot felt for us.BGSU did win in 1984, but they were CCHA for hockey then, the same as I believe they are now. No MAC national championship.Though I agree this is a good payback for not only the MACC two years ago and also for what Big Ben did to us (I was at that game), I have to say I was hoping they would win. I was watching a little of the frozen four preview the other night because Miami was in it, and they never mentioned or showed Miami when I was watching.

I think Zippy the Kangaroo works just fine, no need to change our mascot to an Anaconda. -
Ok, maybe I live in a box or something.....what are they accused of doing???

Lets integrate the T-Shirt launcher into the Tubas and shoot out T-Shirts during halftime with sponsors logos on them!

Dude, I love "Win for Akron", it just needs to be louder!

That sounds like a new Info tradition right there. We'll simply refer to it as the "Bob Knight". Oh, and don't forget to tie on your soccer scarf before you throw your seat!

THERE's A ZIPS' SCARF!?!?
Zipsrifle replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
There are all sorts of odd traditions out there. For example - I know that K.e.n.t. football recruits wear skirts and lipstick on signing day.And their basketball recruits wear orange jumpsuits on signing day.Nice! -
Thanks for all the great shots. MRasor is reporting in his blog they'll begin laying the field in about 50 days. It's going really start looking like a stadium then. Our stadium tour guide said the endzone building had to be complete by May 1 because that's when they start working on the field.More pictures at this link (i.e., is winkfl.ash.com) remove the first . (the stupid Can't crap on this board won't allow me to post the correct link)The best set yet. I'm really glad you got pics of the exterior as well. I didn't get a chance to do that, but it looks great!!!
-
Yes! We were driving East on Exchange from Main street yesterday and you could see the stadium from THERE! The thing is HUGE!!!
-
Well, some seats are installed and some aren't so some of us have seats, and others don't. The problem is the ones who have seats don't know it while the others who don't may know where they will be sitting.
-
do you know if the billboard on the front of the upper deck will be the same LED ribbon boards they have at The Q:will there just be a scoreboard at the south endzone? and will it be bigger than Can't'sThat's what they were called, ribbon board. Don't know, he just said there would be a partial one on the East Stands.

Read on Razor's blog about their spring schedule....brutal! Guess that's what you need to do to make a run at the National Championship! -
Dude, you really had me going until the end! Actually, the give away wasn't the tranfer thing, it was the "Too Much Air in the Rifle" topic. The back pressure is of little concern when you reach a choked flow situation. Also, Brian and Newt have got the filling the air tank down to a science. Additionally, Rifle shooters are maticulous about keeping things consistent. Now, if you really want to get everyones attention during an air rifle match, try shooting WITHOUT enough air. There is a distict pitch when shooting air rifle, and every once in a great while during a match, someone shoots and it's a lower pitch. This is typically followed by moan or some cursing.... Of course, when I started shooting Air Rifle, this wasn't a concern as you actually had to PUMP UP the air in your rifle before you shot. That's all I was after...just to have you going for a little while. Because my April 1 post of a few years ago had several people in tears when they finally figured out we had not moved to the Big East, I have tried to put enough goofy info in my last two April 1 posts so that even education majors would be able to figure out it was a joke by the time they finished reading them.Well played.
