  1. Don't abandon the run. Make them use their "good" defense to stop the run. Make them stack 8 in the box and then burn em on quick, short slants and high percentage pass plays. If we abandon the run early its gonna be a long day for the zips.
  2. It may be a posibility, and it is nice to dream. However, I will withhold my plane tickets for a little while. The way this team goes we could run the table the rest of the way or go 0-3. Lets not start holding our breathes yet.
  3. Exactley correct. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if Biggs can be effective (4ypc or more) carrying the ball 30+ times a game from here on out, Akron will set itself up to win the East. We need to do with Getsy what the Steelers do with Big Ben. Let him throw his few token passes per game just to keep the defense honest, get the ball into our good wide recievers hands occasionally, and give the RB a breather. Otherwise we need to pound the ball in there for all we are worth. As far as correcting the penalty problems I'm gonna take this one step at a time. It seems that we corrected quite a few problems this weekend, if we can keep making progress and correcting problems, the penalties will decline sooner or later. We just can't regress at this point. If we do then the Zipsnation has been set up for another stellar disappointment.
  4. I'm pumped about the overall result of that game, but a few questions still remain. -What is up with this team? Seriously, who the heck are we? We come out and play our hearts out against NIU for a win, then turn into giant hens for a month or so, then come out and beat BG. Has this team gotten things back together here or is this just another showcase for a Jeckle and Hyde type team? I really want some answers on this one cause I'm real confused. -Can Biggs stand up to running the ball 30+ times a game for the rest of the season? I've said it before this season and I'll say it again. We will not win if Luke is throwing 40+ times a game while Brett is running 20 or less times. We saw that today at BG. He isn't always gonna get good yardage, but if he can put together 100 yard games on the ground and average b/w 4-5 yards per carry we are going to control the clock. If we control the clock then our defense stays fresh. If our defense is fresh they are talented, but they lack depth and get tired when they've been on the field to long. Translation, if we can control the clock w/ Biggs we can win games. Question is, is Brett durable enough to carry the load for 3 more games. -What can we expect the last 3 games? Ball St. to me is a big ? mark. They have played by far the toughest schedule of any MAC team and have done so while having a large chunk of their roster suspended. This week, with their players back they went into NIU and dominated. Muncie is a tough place to play at. Can we get it through them or do we lay another egg? Ohio has been alot like us this season. Very Jeckle and Hyde type team, but they have a stellar defense. Their offense is a little lackluster, but the D is very good. Can we put together the offensive fire power again and beat them at home, or will our home fans be treated to another disappointing loss. Can't is just plain bad, if we loose to them then I don't know what I will do, but it is a rivalry game on TV. It is also a game we could overlook if we are in good position come Turkey Day and Can't still doesn't have a IA win. What do you guys think. Here is how I see it going. -Biggs carries the load again at BSU and the Zips come out with a close, but solid win. -Ohio's Defense is too much for the Zips as Biggs is tired and Getsy remains largely ineffective. Bobcats take it too us at home, sealing the deal on our loosing season at home. -Can't has nothing left to play for and plays like it. Zips, knowing that even though they will need help to win the East, if they don't win on Turkey Day they are helpless. Zips come out and take it to the Golden Turkeys and go home to a big Turkey dinner and wait to see how things shake out. Thats just my opinion.
  5. Ok, that was more like it. Stats I like just from gametracker (who knows how reliable this is) Time of Possession BG-27:03 Zips-32:07 Biggs rushes for 159yds and 2 TD's Getsy only throws 29 passes If we could have done stuff like that all year we would solidly on top of the East right now. Great win guys. Now lets keep it up and run the table here.
  6. Biggs to the 5! Do not take the ball out of his hands here guys. If Getsy drops back to pass I'm gonna shoot JD.
  7. 7 here and we ice this one boys. Come on guys, lets do it.
  8. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Alrighty, 4th down.
  10. 3rd and long, lets stop em here guys. Then feed Biggs the ball for all he is worth.
  11. I must have missed that while I was out during the 1st half. Either way the O-line and QB aren't helping things. Atleast BG is pinned deep in their territory, but that doesn't say much.
  12. man if we had an o-line and a qb we would be awesome on offense. I feel bad for our skill position players. This HAS to be getting frustrating.
  13. Gametracker shows 4th13 for BG from their own 10, D musta done something right.
  14. Didn't figure that but its still frustrating, god bless AM radio
  15. Missed about the first half of the game and can't really pick up Frenchie and Co. on the radio where I'm at (can but just barely and it leaves me more frustrated than I am). Watching the gametracker but its slow and unreliable. Keep me up to date guys.
  16. Ohh boo hoo poor Luke Getsy, had to pay one semester worth of tuition to come to the U. And now he has to sacrifice 30+ hours a week to play. Boo Hoo. I take frigging 18 credit hours (alot more than your average football player), most of which is upper level courses, I work part time, and I'm involved in various organizations on campus. I'm sorry that I don't feel bad for the guy. I guess I'm just a bad person. Everyone should bow down to Luke for all of the sacrifices he's made to come here. Give me a break.
  17. Ohh boo hoo Getsy paid his own way just to transfer. Give me a damn break. I pay 10K a year to go to this University and this guy pays for one semester and everyone is looks at him as a charity case. Don't EVER let me hear that arguement again. It's BS.
  18. Please explain how it can get much worse than getting blanked by a team that hadn't won a game in a year and a half at home.
  19. GP, it may not get better, but it sure as hell can't get much worse. And if you STILL think Getsy is a good QB then I suggest you go back to going to Pitt games.
  20. I'll say it straight out. No, the QB cupboard is NOT bare and void of talent. It seems that JD is very loyal to the promise that he made to Getsy and not willing to let another QB on the field because if that QB can throw the deep ball and get something going with the offense, then JD has a problem. Obviously Getsy is our QB, like it or not, and Ferguson will never get a chance to play QB at Akron. He is a very talented QB and has the ability to be a positive leader and influence on this team. He also has a very strong arm and would give us the deep threat which we do not have with Getsy. What a shame that as talented as he is we will never get to see him play for Akron. If that is the case maybe our problem lies on the sidelines because Getsy is terrible, and if the coaching staff is to ignorant to see that, then I worry about our future. Agreed on all counts. There is no way you can tell me that Luke is the best we got. It's looking more and more each week like JD is being too stubborn to realize that. Bottom line is we've got to change something if for no other reason than to spark this team (and no I don't mean pant colors or names coming off the back of jersey's). Put Ferguson in there, if he doesn't work put Jabari in there, if that don't work then screw Carlton Jackson's redshirt year. I don't care but do something. These players HAVE to be given the message, if you don't perform on the field then your not going to play. Period. On one positive note (if you can find one from last night) attendance looked to be pretty good considering the conditions. I know we had alot of Army fans over there but the home stands had a decent crowd last night as well. On the flip side was Can't whom our soccer team can probably outdraw.
  21. Wow was that a pathetic showing. No energy, no drive, no fire, no offense, no run defense. I can't believe I pay $10K a year to attend this University, these guys are on a free ride and they can't even put a point up against Army. Send Getsy back to Pitt. The dude just can't throw for shit.
  22. Everyone be at the bowl tonight to cheer on #28 Domenick Hixon. LOL! I think you guys are way over the top on the pettiness on the ABJ. It is funny but I hope no one takes it that serious. It happens all the time and not just to the Zips. The Ohio State stories are also littered with inaccurracies. You'd expect more but it doesn't happen. I wonder if OSU boards are on fire when there are misprints, probably not, they're worried about bigger things --- LIKE, Why are you highlighting the ZIPS over my Bucks !!!! I really think the Beacon is trying after the ambush of emails from Zipsnation members. I cant argue, today, I opened the Beacon and a half page picture of Hixon (with a #23 !!) on the front page of the Sports section was staring me down....Zips football game story and picture... Zips soccer game story and picture... Wait till BB season starts, people are probably going to be sick of reading about the Zips..... I just find it humurous that a paper that try's to give off such a big aura can make SO MANY MISTAKES. Its pretty humurous.
  23. Everyone be at the bowl tonight to cheer on #28 Domenick Hixon. LOL!
  24. I'm not so concerned with our defense not getting the ball right back for our offense. I'm more concerned with our offense giving it right back to their offense.
