  1. One thing I could not believe on there (at least til I looked it up on the NCAA homepage). Akron is #22 in the nation in defense and #1 in the MAC. Who would have ever thunk it. Especially with an offensive minded head coach.
  2. I don't know, but that is direct from the ticket office. I'm a student so I'm real interested in this. So long as I can find someone to keep me company on the bus ride up there I'm gonna take advantage of this. Here is what I was told. Student vouchers go "on sale" Monday at 8:30 in the JAR ticket office. Present your student ID, you get a voucher to get on the bus. The bus leaves at noon on Thursday for Detroit. Bus ticket is free. Game ticket is free for the student section. Bus leaves after the game is over to come back to Akron Thursday night. Again, free ticket. No idea why UAM is not promoting this more. Haven't even seen it in my student e-mail account. UAM REALLY needs to pump this up here. If it is true that there will only be 3000 tickets for students then we need to get all 3000 seats accounted for.
  3. I just called the ticket office to check on this. It is in fact true. Starting Monday at 8:30AM students can go to the ticket office and present their zipcard and get a voucher to get on the busses at noon on Thursday. The trip and the ticket will be free.
  4. In case anyone is interested the Elyria Chronicle (The newspaper I get at home hear in the West 'burbs of Cleveland, almost into Lorain County) had a nice little article along with a rather large picture of Biggs on page two. They rarely have covered the Zips or the MAC at all though. Pretty much a one shot thing, but they are about an hour away from Akron so....
  5. I'm gonna go out and say something that will really get me pissed on by this board. I think the most pleasent fan base around (besides the Zips) may very well be Can't. Buffalo is pretty good as well, as is NIU. Come to think of it, other than those three teams, the rest of them have far too many true and complete assholes. OU fans get absolutley ridiculous with thier never ending posts about updates to the campus dog shelter, the ranking of their intramural badmitton team, and how many hot chicks they can fit into a phone booth. Sorry to say it Kit-Kat as I did like your post but you have notoriously been one of the worst when it comes to this. Toledo fans just can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that they aren't a Big 10 team. It's ridiculous watching them flaunt their accomplishments like they have the world by the balls. Miami fans may be the worst. I'm so fed up with the talk on hawktalk and MACbbs about how our fan support sucks. Granted they have had our number in recent years, but with all the success they have had you would think they would be able to pull in a packed house week in and week out. They can't, but yet they still get all over our ass about having weak attendance. BGSU fans have been a little less blatant in their assholishness, and I will admit that many such as 1987alum have been very respectful. But you read ay-ziggy-zoomba and a lot of fans just can't get passed the fact that we beat them. The way they claim that w/ Omar they would have one is ridiculous too. Not only is it irrelevant b/c they didn't have Omar, but it is what you get when you base your entire season on ONE STINKING PLAYER. Wake up and smell the coffee guys. If you are that reliant on Omar you guys are gonna plummet in the MAC whenever he leaves. Overall I am incredibly frustrated with MAC fans right now. If you haven't done so lately I suggest a trip to MACbbs. You might be surprised to find the ways in which we as a team and a fanbase are getting disrespected.
  6. Being a student I was just about resigned to watching it from my room on ESPN when I hadn't seen anything on a good student fare for getting there (for a student such as myself the rates presented by the AD are not praticularly feasible). If this is indeed true I may just have to make the trip up there. Needless to say I'm calling the ticket office tomorow.
  7. Just checked over at Berniesinsiders at scout.com a nice post on the watercooler about todays game. Includes a decent little photoalbum post. http://mb19.scout.com/fbrownsinsiderfrm15....cID=49713.topic
  8. It's a great time to be a zip.
  9. The O-line was a big part of things today, they opened up a lot of holes for Biggs. However, the cuts that kid was making in those conditions were simply amazing. I just don't know how he was doing it. I would figure one cut and he'd be on the ground. Just feet straight out from underneath him. It didn't happen. I love good O-lines as much as anyone, maybe more so. Football is won and lost in the trenches. I'm a firm believer of that. But without a guy like Biggs out there today that game gets a lot more difficult.
  10. Yeah, rub it in Z.I.P., rub it in. Anyways. Biggs was definitley the star of the game. Period. I know the question at the end of last year was how do we replace Frye. Right now I think how we replace Biggs is a bigger problem. The kid isn't big, but he plays like he's 7'2". I'm gonna miss him in our backfield. I know I'll take some heat for this, but I don't know if Garret Wolfe will be the best Running Back at Ford Field on Thursday. I'm gonna miss Jay Rohr too, as much as Biggs' late season performance has helped us on Offense, Rohr has helped that much on Defense. He just plain gets to the ball, and when he does, he wraps up and brings down. How the heck did Swiger not miss and xtra point today? Seriously, I figured noone would even make one, but he made 5. Not that we needed them, but nice performance by Swiger in his final game in the Rubber Bowl. Speaking of our delapadated stadium, will someone please tear it down already, for the sake of all of us? Please! God did that weather suck, I'm surprised we got as many fans as we did today and the fact that most of them even made it to halftime was a miracle. It was nice to see. Ofcourse Can't helped nothing at all on attendance. Not that we really expected any help, hell they can't get 3K to show up at their own stadium in good weather. I don't think they brought 300 today and that includes their panzy ass band that left after halftime. One final thought.
  11. I disagree that Miami last year or Marshall 2000 were bigger than this. Not only is this for the MAC East, but it is also a rivalry game. That added bonus makes this the biggest game we have had in 20 years.
  12. Ryno, I understand the point on the bowl game, but here is how I look at it. As of right now we are about 75 min. away (15 min of the NIU game and then 60 min. against Can't tomorow) from making it to the MACC. That is a nationally televised game that should draw a good viewing audience. Heck just being there is gonna be good for recruiting purposes. I'm not so sure we won't beat NIU again the way a lot of MAC fans seem to think. Bowl game our not this season has exceeded MY personal expectations. If the team expects more, then great. Show me more. I'll be there with bells on. Oh yeah. BEAT THE TURKEYS!
  13. No, its 28-7 NIU, the TD late by WMU was overturned. Watching Garret Wolfe run today, even when he is slightly banged up. I am in awe that we were able to contain him like we did earlier in the season. So far just about everything is going the zips way. This is a little too good to be true and I can't help but wonder where we are gonna get screwed this time. As for the bowl game talk, hell if we don't make it to the bowl I'm not gonna cry a river. I might not be happy, but I'm not gonna be writing hate mail to the NCAA. Fact of the matter is that we are in a rebuilding year and we are about 90min. away from goin to the MACC. I'll take it.
  14. Open message to the Zips: Thanksgiving morning, do NOT forget to beat the Golden Turkeys.
  15. Hey man, I'm psyched. I'll be there with 9 friends/family members. Beat Can't, nothing else matters.
  16. Saw that. Posted it in the other thread.
  17. One thing goes our way. Even if it is only a little part of things.
  18. Central draws first blood in OT with a TD. Ball St. has to respond.
  19. Ball St. kicks a field goal to tie it late. Looks like OT.
  20. Ball St. driving down inside Central 20 w/ like :30 left to play
  21. Central finally takes control. Maybe. With a blocked punt returned for a TD. 24-21 Chips with about 2 min. to go.
  22. Both teams seem to be trying to give this game away. I don't know if anyone wants it though. I'm gonna drive up to Muncie and kick some ass if those guys shaft us twice this year.
  23. Here are two things that I know for sure. 1.) BG wins against Toledo and no other scenario matters. BG is in. Remember guys. They still have a one game lead on us, and if they win there is no way we can make that up. 2.) Zips loose to Can't (I hang myself for one) no other scenario matters. Lets take care of these two things first and then we can let the rest of it all pan out.
  24. From what I've heard Miami is already out of the East race and the OU/Miami game really doesn't mean much of anything. I could be wrong here though.
  25. Not really. BG's site along with MACbbs are full of posts arguing about what the scenarios are. The tiebreakers really are a lot more complex than everyone thinks.
