  1. http://www.und.com/allaccess/ Not sure, unfortunately, which link it is. Listened a bit at home and work is not as kind in letting me link up to listen. But in one of the links related to Kelly talking about how his kids acted after the Michigan game, he says things that are VERY SIMILAR to what Ianallo says= saying that they were genuinely down, upset, etc. When you take some of the emotion out of things, amazing what else you can hear. Not saying Ianallo is Kelly, nor am I saying Kelly will be successful at ND (though I think he will be). But they both said about the same thing after a tough loss (SU/UA and UM/ND). Now, throw in GW loss...
  2. What if they can tripple their ticket costs when they play each other and strike bigger TV deals? IMNHO, there is more money to be had getting rid of the small schools. Let's get back to the topic. Someone prove to me we are a D-1A conference in reality. We are a Division 1A (FBS) conference in the same way the Cleveland Browns are an NFL team.
  3. Zips 23 GW 9
  4. If that is the worst team in the Big East, what does that say about the MAC? They would probably go undefeated if they were in our league. After what I saw Syracuse do to us on Saturday, I am hoping they are MUCH better than the worst team in the Big East this year. But regardless, I am afraid to say that I anticipate at least a few teams in our own league will be better than Syracuse. Personally, and this was BEFORE Saturday's game, I felt that Syracuse had a chance to get as high as 5 in the Big East (out of 8 teams). After WVU and Pitt, conference is pretty wide open. I would say Cincy has a solid shot at repeating, but they are definitely down a bit (moreso now with the loss of the USC transfer WR). As for where Syracuse would end up in the MAC. While I was not impressed with Northern Illinois during week 1, I feel that UNI, Syracuse and Temple would be battling it out.
  5. UPDATED (9/8/10): 2011 @ OSU @ UC 2012 @ Tennessee (according to Ianallo on WKNR a few weeks ago) vs. UCF 2013 @ UCF 2014 vs James Madison 2015 @ Virginia Tech
  6. Why no JMU? Original poster did not seem convinced that it was accurate, and work blocks the link. Judgement call on my part. Copy, paste and fix it if it seems pretty definite. I find it odd we would have an FCS opponent scheduled 4 years in advance. If so, not sure what that says about our AD, Coach, etc. when it comes to scheduling. But I do like the UCF series!
  7. Which is my whole point= they transfer there b/c they can play right away, not b/c they can't cut it at the "top level". If they could go to a non-BCS school that still is in the FBS, they very well might choose the MAC. Secondly, Bill Stull had a very "Palko" type year last year. And, though Lewis was the key, he was part of a 10-3 team that won a bowl game.
  8. 2 year series with UCF confirmed here as well (2012 page linked): http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-12/mid-ame...ll-schedule.php UPDATED (9/8/10): 2011 @ OSU @ UC 2012 @ Tennessee (according to Ianallo on WKNR a few weeks ago) vs. UCF 2013 @ UCF 2014 2015 @ Virginia Tech Also, does not look like FAMU or FIU is on the schedule in future years according to that site. Both SEEM to have most OOC opponents for the next few years scheduled, though things can always change. UCF is DEFINITELY an upgrade over FAMU or FIU Have not heard anything more about the Akron @ ND "rumblings".
  9. In thinking about transfers, balancing BCS and non-BCS schools in FBS, reading about the CAA and considering the recent talk of "Is the MAC FBS football, really?" this popped in my mind over the weekend. You look at teams in the CAA (Villanova, Delaware, James Madison, Richmond, etc.). Read a bit about this league, and they get MANY highly touted players that transfer from the bigger schools. One that pops in my head right away (though I read about quite a few others) is Pat Devlin, QB at Delaware who was highly touted and originall at Penn State. What if kids that went to BCS schools DID NOT have to sit out a year to go to non-BCS schools? Teams in the C-USA, MAC, Sun Belt, etc. could gain a somewhat small but perhaps slightly signficant competitive balance against the BCS schools. I think part of why you see these CAA and other successful FCS schools succeeding against lower FBS and even struggling BCS schools (App St. vs. UM, Jack St. vs. Ole Miss) is due to these guys that can transfer and NOT sit out a year. Just a thought...obviously thinking about the health of the MAC!!!!
  10. Reminds me of a Butch Davis quote from a few years back after Jamal Lewis had bludgeoned the Browns for a whopping 295 yards. Davis was quick to spin: "Hey -- on 25 of his 30 carries we held him to a 2.5 yard average." Totally agree= that quote was IMMEDIATLY in my head when he said it. I get the jist of what he means...but still, any reminder of Butchie Boy is scary!!!! Of course, being fair to Butch Davis and relating back to my Patrick Nicely/Derek Anderson college comparisons= if Ianallo ends up being as good as Butchie was in COLLEGE, all will be good! Just watch out for those suspensions!
  11. Now that we have had Syracuse and Indiana at home with no real jump in attendance, seems that bringing in more non-BCS but FBS teams makes sense. Might as well load up on UCF, FIU, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Army, Memphis, etc.= more winnable games now, hopefully lead to better attendance (based on WINNING) later. I would still look at a 2 for 1 with someone like Michigan State, Purdue, Pitt or WVU= go with the "middle of the pack" teams from BCS leagues..I think some casual fans might actually come to these games. Not to mention, some of these schools would bring a good couple thousand. "Joe Akron" just isn't biting on bottom-of-the-barrel BCS schools [indiana, Syracuse (recent history) and Cincinnati (had them a couple years early!)].
  12. IF Ianallo ends up sucking, so be it. I'm not about to ditch out on the guy for one very bad decision. Who knows...maybe the plan was to get 3, then shock the hell out of them with an onside kick. LOW percentage (in more ways than one), I know. I am a bit more concerned, right now, about all of this "fundamental" talk when they SERIOUSLY screwed up in many ways FUNDAMENTALLY. But..again..not going to crucify the guy for one bad game and CERTAINLY not for the bad decisions of previous regimes (admittedly, a bit easier as I have only been a fan for about 7-8 years).
  13. Let's hope, behind closed doors, Ianallo realizes that he made a bad move there. 1st game calling the shots after 22 years of coaching...I will give him a "mulligan".
  14. While the IMMEDIATE concern is what Ianallo and his staff do on the field with our current players, the additional question is what is going on with recruiting? http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p...=14&yr=2011 http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting.../2010/MIDAM/all 7 verbals, 4th best based on stars on Scout, 5th best on Rivals. I don't want to get too deep into the "star debate", BUT when you bring in this awesome recruiter that Ianallo supposedly is, I expect to finish no worse than 3rd when all is said and done. AND, I expect to get a good # of kids that have been offered by 6+ MAC schools along with some that have been offered by the "lower BE' and the "east of the Mississippi" CUSA. Otherwise...not much sense in getting the recruiting genius we have...unless he proves awesome as a game coach (Um, coach...17-3 and 17-6 are BOTH 2-score scores!!!!).
  15. One of the dorkiest and yet coolest ideas I have ever seen. Send that to TW!!!
  16. I am going 21,607 You have to figure in that 6PM start time. Some of those freshmen might start drinking at 11 am..not sure if they have the stamina built up yet to handle that kind of day. Personally, I didn't hit my stride until late Sophomore year at Xavier. Then I really busted onto the scene my Junior year.
  17. Pride as the starter at one WR and back-up at another?!?!!? WOW, WR position is worse than I thought. When you only list 3 WRs in your 2-deep= not good. I am expecting A LOT of 2 TE formations.
  18. Thanks for posting the links, Scott. Missed the interview, but dropped them all an email of thanks. You can get the interview right here: http://www.espncleveland.com/audiovault/reghi_roda.php
  19. While I would typically agree, BK seems to be off the sauce and now just sounds intelligent without slurring. Not fun anymore!
  20. I don't believe this for a minute. I don't care if we win the national title every year for a decade....people don't care about soccer. Believe whatever you want. On campus, nobody is excited about football. Might have to do with the focus on marketing being "hey, we have a new coach, but that's all we really have going for us right now". The coach's face is plastered on everything related to the team but there's almost nothing about the actual team, who they play, or any of the actual players. A great marketing tool is to create a star player (we have several in Allen, Nicely, LaFrance, Wagner, and Sewell) and show that the game is about the players and what they can do on the field. We get none of that, though. Then lead them there, ZTZ!!!! I believe ZTZ has mentioned several times he will be watching soccer on Saturday, not football. I think we could do a little better as far as a Pied Piper goes... Sorry. I have not been following his tweets.
  21. Will LBJ and Jim Brown (SU alum) be there on Saturday?

  23. The uniforms are updated in NCAA 11: Basically the blue pants and jersey are the same as last year, and the white and gold pants are updated to match. The numbers on the white jersey are a bit off, in the game they are the same dark blue as the rest. Still would like to see a gold alternate, maybe white pants, and a blue helmet. I'm sorry= I think it is the stadium that is not updated (according to other posters..I do not have the game).
  24. I don't get why Cribbs gets a pass from Cleveland sports fans. He threatened to hold out, said he was insulted by $1 M, created a public dispute before Holmgren had a chance to unpack his boxes, got his contract, then showed up to camp 15 pounds overweight. Way to generalize! Bravo!
  25. Last year they did not tell us about the uniforms, stadium does not appear in NCAA 2011 game, rosters not complete...yeah, I think they could "spring" new uniforms on us come Saturday. At the very least, it seems we will wear the newer pants with the white jerseys (as we did in the spring game). I was wondering about the practice uniforms this year. Not sure if they have gone so "ND" in the years under JD. I know, of course, many teams wear much different practice unis vs. game unis.
