  1. They did research and saw that their largest alumni base lives in the Columbus area. They have a game at home, during a break that creates traditionally poor attendance. I think this is a good move by the athletic department. Take your game to your fans (they have a solid alumni base and good following) and get some publicity in the long run. It does neither of the things you mention. It's creative out of the box thinking.
  2. uhh, too much O-zone, can't breath....
  3. Last update 63 juniors visiting. Here is the quick position break down of those visiting. ATH 3 CB 2 DB 1 DE 3 DT 1 K/P 1 LB 6 MLB 1 OL 8 OLB 4 QB 16 RB 5 S 4 TE 3 WR 5 and the states from where they are from IN 2 KY 1 MI 7 NY 1 OH 44 PA 6 VA 1 OH 1
  4. Sometimes you have blow up a mountain to get the train tracks put down. Unfortunately for us, Ianello was the H-Bomb when we really only needed a stick or two of dynamite.
  5. When Temple left they kept the divisions the same. So 6 teams in the west, and 7 teams in the east. BGSU is still an east division member.
  6. Not as much as you might think considering we have changed offensive and defensive schemes.
  7. so that schedule should look like UCF - H FIU - A MORGAN ST - H UT - A MIAMI OH - H BGSU - H OHIO - A NIU - H CMU - A CANT FLUSHES - A UMASS - H TOLEDO - A I say BGSU as the home since we just played CMU at home this past season.
  8. Depends on how good a job you think Jeff Boals will do as the HC at ohio. Also how many people leave the program after feeling burned by Groce. To me, it shouldn't have mattered (and we should not have been wishing or celebrating his leave) what ohio did. We beat them once this year, should have done it twice, and our team should put this season behind them and know they are bigger and more talented than ohio. We shouldn't even have spent this much time talking about ohio.
  9. So there is something back there? Don't let doomsday people know, they will be lining up to make a tent city back there.
  10. Ascot Park is now a business park, not sure if the little bit of land left is enough to hold Thistledown. I assume that Thistledown would keep their full mile track.
  11. If you could judge QB's on one play, Nicely, Moore, and Williams, Willians looked the best and worst, the passes I saw were crisp and on target except for the interception at the end of the video. I have a feeling Williams is going to come out as number 1 once they start back up for the summer/fall.
  12. Porter was hardly given a Ferrari, he was barely given a Nissan Leaf. I agree with most everything else with what you said other than that. What is going against Porter on the national level, is that very few levels of soccer here coach aggressive soccer (which is why we are awful at the international level). Porter had a short period of time to teach is style of soccer. They saw what it could be against Cuba, and saw the flaws of having a team not used to that style of play against Canada and El Salvador. As Porter and some of the other "modern" coaches continue to win with aggressive attaching soccer, more coaches will be forced to learn how to coach it and the talent pool will get better.
  13. Well there is a whole lot of unused area at Rolling Acres. Besides that it says Akron "area" so Barberton, Green, Stow, and Tallmadge are all possiblilities.
  14. I won't sign that because Can't deserves no reapect and shouldn't even be mentioned in Akron.
  15. Sign us up. That is perfect.
  16. Honestly any of the top 3 (Akron, Ohio, Buffalo) had the potential to win games in the NCAA tournament.
  17. How about this? We do away with scholarships entirely and the Agents can pay for the students completely. Or if the agent is really bold, set up your own scholarship program to offer to top tier players and let them pick their school. As far as I know there is nothing in the NCAA by laws that prevents this assuming there is an application process and the scholarship is based on academic merit. The Student Athlete is not getting paid, lawyers do this kind of thing all the time Larry Dawson was on that kind of scholarship. Agents are a bunch of whiney see you next tuesdays. Play by the rules and stop being parasitic weasels.
  18. The most astounding thing in that story... in front of 40,000 fans
  19. I would assume that if UA pushes them to a community college there will be some sort of compensation for UA. Especially if the students go to a "recommended CC" like Lorain or Stark State.
  20. Ah OU fans... It's funny a compliment thread gets turned into us "attacking" them and being jealous. Yeah we are jealous, not that you don't deserve to be there, but that we could have accomplished the same thing. I mean we're a bad charging call away from ohio getting a mediocre seed in the CIT and potentially sitting out completely.
  21. Well it shows me two things... 1. We were a sweet 16 caliber team 2. The MAC should be two bid conference
  22. How soon people forget, we won a championship this season.
  23. Yeah, never understood that. Greek life should be the biggest supporter of campus activities but they are a bunch of duds.
  24. As an aside to the nonsense. Don't count on Spicer and Exchange being an option anymore. There is a bid for services with construction start expectation of June 2012 for residential development for 225-400 students mostly associated with Greek and other University clubs. The area up for proposal (though subject to change based on the Sasaki report most likely) is between Vine and Exchange and Spicer and Goodkirk.
