  1. I'm hoping the Greek Life people have some serious ideas going on. (maybe I should have posted this in "What's the plan)
  2. You mean this one?!I know our season ended up tanking last year, but it sure feels good knowing we beat the piss out those smug bastards. "We did average 6 yards a carry rushing against them" Congrats, that's 2 yards less a carry than everyone else averaged against us last year.
  3. Well, after we take care of the 6 teams before them, we can give the Orange a sequel. "Doom in the Dome II", and next year we can have the "Inquisition at the Info".
  4. New stadium, new coaches, more team experience, more team talent, senior QB, depth at RB, possible defensive scheme change, depth on DL, schedule, and we haven't lost yet. Oh, and we aren't Ohio.
  5. I inquired about the flag situation and got a prompt reply from the athletic department:There will be three flag poles installed soon in the landscaping just north of the North End Zone Building. The flags will include the American flag, State of Ohio flag and The University of Akron flag. The design will be similar to the flagpole layout at Buchtel Hall and at Buchtel Commons on the east side of campus. Paul HammondAssociate Athletics Director for Facilities and OperationsThe University of AkronWell that will look nice, I was kind of hoping they went with that area.
  6. I would prefer the Pizza the hut bowl "Lonestar!!!"
  7. What's really sad, is that they made a bunch of homer predictions and the best record they could come up with was 4-8."The Zips return a team that largely made us look stupid, their defense is likely better, our offense is likely worse, but we'll win, and by double digits even."
  8. When I toured it on Saturday I saw no poles either. So I'm assuming it is the absolute last thing they are going to do.
  9. OMG, Wait till Jake sees this thread! Yeah I thought about that too, but I didn't want to invoke his spirit.
  10. ?Looks like you lost the train of thought there. Within 5 years, 10? Sooner? Is it possible that the arena location was already mentioned to OBC? I've heard rumors they are moving into the the Kaiser building and from what I've seen the arena could be built next door to that.I wanted news on how Zeke is doing, how he is adjusting to classes, if they had to custom fit his dorm door...
  11. I have no issues with the system itself, rather the way in which the system is implemented. If you get season tickets from a professional team, do you have to wear your wristband from the day you get the tickets till the last game? No... they are given to you to put on at your convenience before the game. There is a bit of a difference. No, take the Indians for example, you go to the ticket office, wait in line, you are randomly assigned a wristband. 3-5 days later you come back to get your tickets. It's done over and over and over.Instead of complaining, and presenting it in a bad light you should be chastising those that don't have one. Every complaint (except from the factory worker) has been about dress code, and that can be easily hidden under work appropriate attire. The one sacrifice they ask you to make "don't remove this band for 12 days" you guys act like they asked you to pay money or cut off a hand.Put it on, get over it, and be there.
  12. Hmm, so doing something that professional teams have done to handle season ticket, and single game ticket sales for years, was the wrong solution? They have used the wristband system for a long time. You tell the rest of the students to suck it up and quit making excuses. You have no excuse now.
  13. It's a sign that says "FirstMerit Foundation Club Level"
  14. And obviously Can't's education is great. They either think history only extends 10 years, or they are just completely ignorant to anything that isn't Can't. Not to give the Sweaters any credit but...
  15. The biggest problem is that you keep feeding URANUSASWELL.Look we can all agree that Ohio U was the absolute best school in Ohio in 1806. Since then it has done nothing but fall. The statistics would trend that way. Hell it isn't even as good of a party school as it used to be. So let's all just let it go, we know what OU offers (lackluster athletics, over-hyped academics, and all the chubby sorority girls you can want). And we know what Akron offers (championship athletics, best tech transfer in the state, and the most state of the art campus in the state)
  16. Shirts and ties? So then they are ok with short sleeve? No watches? Really?See because most places that go shirt and tie require true dress shirts (ie not short sleeve). That wristband is easily going to hide under any long sleeve dress shirt.
  17. Was just curious if you guys are planning on updating any of the information out on your site?
  18. Didn't I hear that they were doing this for both this game and Can't? I could be wrong.
  19. Yeah I would say that it creates a buzz around campus. And then you can ask people "Hey where's your blue wristband? Aren't you going, don't you support your school?!!!"
  20. That speaks volumes to what my point has been. (defense needs more improvement than Jacq but both need to perform better) No offense or QB should be held to "we have to score 35 points a game". It's an unrealistic expectation. We're not going to start beating this dead horse again. All of it was last year, the coaches and receivers have confidence in Jacq, they have a few wrinkles that will have Rodgers on the field here and there, as long as the defense has improved there is no reason we shouldn't be highly competitive this year.
  21. I'm on your side, I want to see him get more help on the other side of the ball, to me this an easier fix than expecting him to play like Joe Montana.I'm sitting with both of you. Granted we were like top five in fumbles recovered last year but we still need to have a defense that doesn't say "Well we have the lead at the end of the third, our job is done." Football is a team sport...unless we lose, then blame the QB
  22. The MAC most certainly is in a position to say "goodbye" to someone. We can dump one team and not lose the championship game. The MAC has all the bargaining chips when it comes to Temple. their football program is just becoming mildly respectable, and if they don't want to lose that by being dumped back to Independent status, they'll join in basketball. Then you can drop Can't.Wow.No Temple has all the cards. They are in a better basketball conference. They are a basketball first school, in a basketball first region. They could go independent and play who they want when the want. The MAC is in a position that it has to do what it can to keep schools. Temple was brought in because of fears of another team leaving (dropping down). Hell the MAC is so afraid of losing schools it brought in Hartwick for Soccer to keep us happy. The MAC cannot force anyone to do anything.
  23. And walla, no more conference championship game. Walla, no more ESPN coverage for the entire conference. The championship game (which is highly viewed) is the keypin to the ESPN contract in the first place. Lose that, lose all the ESPN coverage we have. Some of you will cheer that (no wednesday games) but that means no primetime coverage and back to the dark ages for the conference.I'm all for losing some dead weight, but the conference is not in a position to say "goodbye" to anyone.
  24. He's just kissing but so he can have a nice comfy chair in the Towpath Credit Union Press Level.*edit: I sure hope that I or the university gets a dollar everytime one of us uses the full name of any of this corporately sponsored stuff.
