Lately it seems, half the Nation!I think you are right ZW.It might even be more than that. We have a beautiful stadium, with lights that won't even be noticeable during the day. And at night because of the dark blue paint you won't even see the poles. The experience will be vastly superior going to the Rubber Bowl in every way but people have to find the negative in everything.

Nice, better than Rasor's video :-)

ooohh  I really like this shot, g-mann.Do you have it in a higher resolution? At home yeah, I can get you the pic tonight after work.

Nothing Major but added two new shots.FLICKR

Hmm, I see some ideas for the Rowdies on this one...

Ok good, someone else pointed out how goofy that comment was.How does it enhance my experience?By reminding me that my cable bill is due? That I want a pepporoni, onion, green pepper, and banana pepper pizza from Gionino's?That I want a nice refreshing drink of water (er Bud Light) to wash down my pizza that I can't get?

You may want to be more specific.Sorry, thought they were pretty obvious. Look at the top of the lower deck stands, looks like some large white panels being stood up but only part way down the stands. It doesn't look permamant and doesn't exist on the west side stands. Those are platforms. Assuming ADA seating platforms. But I don't know why they set them up like that.

I'm not exactly certain, I just don't like small players at the D-1A level. Normally a scouting report makes a player slightly faster and taller than he may actually be. I'd rather have a kid show as 6' 5" and show up as 6' 4" than 6' 1" and show up at 6' even or worse yet 5' 11".Size matters. Just ask your wife/girlfriend.That's the second time you recommended that, so I went ahead and asked your wife/girlfriend and she said that tall QBs are overrated and the only size that counts is girth. Are we all now to assume that GP1 is a size queen*? *all apologies to the moderators

Well the instructions do say "water thoroughly".

sandstone? really?Did they have to cut sandstone when they excavated the lower bowl?Yeah the construction manager said the one thing they did not anticipate was the amount of sandstone they would have to deal with. In fact if you look at some of the early shots of the excavation you can see the exposed sandstone.Historically the area was known as a clay bed (they used to make sewer pipes up the road at what is now Mason Elementary). So they had no geological information that suggested they would hit hard rock.

Hey, bottom right corner of the Rise. What are they doing? Sod?

This was a below the fold front page of the Sports Section article in the real paper.Schrock and Hoobler pressIt's nice to see these articles. Also nice to hear that the stadium and facilities really do make an impact.

Well Tyson Gulley likes him. And if Tyson likes him, maybe he likes his decisions too.

It says on the job listing for the AD position that we're renovating the basketball arena and soccer stadium, so I'm assuminging that it was referrencing the JAR being re-done.That doesn't mean the seating area. Look around the JAR it houses athletics offices and locker rooms. There are a lot of things that can be renovated. The elevators are death traps, the Tommy Evans Lounge is as dirty and nasty as a Tallmadge Avenue strip club. The AD offices are as warm and inviting as the BMV. Realize that no matter what, (new arena or not) the JAR probably stays. We need a place for volleyball to practice and play, it can be easily retrofitted for Rifle, and we need the space for "gym credits" Kung Fu, Karate, Golf etc. once Memorial Hall get's torn down. The soccer field renovations include a new pitch. And should include a total tear down and rebuild of the grand stands. But that is another topic all together.
-
To go along with this, many teams do a Pre-Game walk to the stadium from much farther away than 100ft.

My friend and I did a significant walk around last night, and the thing you see that looks "like a start" is actually holding the support cable for the field goal net.I do have some decent (in my opinion) pics that I am going to throw up on my flicr. I would do it here but the couple times I've tried to upload to an albulm, it fails out on me. (my fault I know, but if there is a secret, please point me in the right direction)

K.e.n.t. Football 2010 -- THIS is the Year!

Actually, a circle doesn't have any corners. The circle I am referring to is the circle around the toilet drain Can't State is running around.Wouldn't that technically be a spiral? Or maybe they are turning the corner of the plumbing trap? Can't State, Excellence in Action. -
No tunnel or bridge. They will have their locker room in the Field House (get suited up), walk over before warm-ups, and then pre-game, half-time, and post-game they will go to the North End Zone facility (some one please cough up the 2.5 million for naming rights already). The bridge made no sense, and the tunnel was ruled out because of the expense of cutting through 10 feet of sandstone.

I love this line. Yeah because those assistants were so highly sought by other programs. -
The new arena will be build when one of two things happen:1. A coach from a major sport gets fired.2. The Big East invites Akron to join.I think you are wrong about the coach thing but correct about the BE. This thread is quite a heated debate for something that is just speculation...I find it numerous.I find your comment humorous.

That's a huge debate. Some people say that downtown is only Broadway to the Innerbelt. But truthfully speaking, Wonder Bread is Downtown, As is Grace Park. A generic idea is that downtown is bordered by the highways. Rt. 8, Rt. 59, and 77/76. But I would say that Spicer Village is not downtown. So you would have to add the Exchange St Corridor as a Southern border.People will disagree that UA is downtown. And say the rail road tracks are the Eastern Border of Downtown. But that neglects that Wolf Ledges, The Akron Incubator, and Post office as being downtown.

I could have sworn we were scrounging for scraps only three weeks ago?We were. Now we're right about where we should be, maybe a little on the low end, as far as quantity of verbals. The quality of the recruits is very good, however.Verbals seem to come in waves. I hope that this will cause some other top prospects out there to follow suit.I just hope this group of recruits does not split.Wouldn't we just lose two then?

Did you watch his video? He doesn't appear to be afraid to hit anyone from what I saw and he seems to be able to do a good job of getting between the receiver and the ball to break up plays.

Though apparently they renamed the arena after Mack (Rhoads Arena) instead of Rhodes Arena.
