  1. It would be nice, but maybe too forward thinking There is space at the bottom and top for one though.
  2. ThanksI get to update my wallpaper. They are actually updating this page  University Stadium SiteI like the way the back of the scoreboard will look. Advertise all sports.
  3. Because it's 2 year rotating cycles, the 2007 number is skewed because it doesn't include the Army game at Cleveland Browns stadium, and the requirement was put on hiatus if I recall.
  4. How does Nike make money giving Lebron $90 million? Because it's advertising. ACME had huge traffic the weeks leading up to the game, meaning large revenues from sales. For what? In the end about $5000 to the University.CK talked about it a while backDemise of the ACME Zip GameIf it was such a great idea do you think Proenza would have let it go? No, ACME had a huge advantage because they got giant advertising for pennies. The University made less from a 30 thousand spectator crowd than from a 15 thousand one becasue tickets were a dollar. And they were handicapped in acquiring other sponsors.
  5. I'd like to see someone (can't get up the nerve to do it myself) put this same poll up for the Morgan State game alone. I just can't see it drawing over 20k. MORGAN STATE? You've gotta be kidding me. And if you think 25,000 people will show up just for an "event", and not care about the opponent, then why don't we still have the Acme Zip Game? This shows just how wily Hunter is. Hunter knows. You really don't think an event will draw more than 20? The first game, in a brand new stadium? Ok, I don't understand your logic. The ACME Zip game went away because the University didn't make anything off of it, not because attendance numbers dropped. ACME made all the money, donated a measily amount to the school and smiled all the way to the bank. The opponent isn't going to matter one bit for the first game of a brand new stadium.
  6. I've seen this statement in one form or another countless times. All a conference looks for is three things.Willingness to fund the athletic programs.Consistant development of academic programs.Television Market.Do you really think that USF and Cincinatti had attendance going for them? No, they were schools that were planning on pumping big money into the University and Athletics programs to make themselves more notable.Other lateral moves Marshall to C-USA (UCF doesn't count, the MAC was a hold over for them), BC to the ACC, Miami to the ACC. Those were developments of attendance and value added from marketing. But those are lateral, those teams went from one conference to a slightly better rated conference, not from Non-BCS to BCS. Does increased attendance help? Yes, because it's more money to pump into the program.
  7. I was told "Not at this time, possibility for the future"
  8. They are only bricking the support columns. Renderings showed glass between the columns, but I don't know if that will happen or not.
  9. It's safe to assume that more signs to the stadium will be erected for drivers to follow once exiting the expressway.Chalk this piece up to, "I have a column due tomorrow...what in the world am I going to write about?"Chalk every one of Dyer's articles up to that.
  10. The different color at the 50 is from those bench seats having a back. The 50 is for priority reserved and includes the East side lower stands and the West side upper and lower stands.
  11. Not sod. It doesn't work on a sloped bank. That's what they've said. Grass seating won't be available this season. Fall is a good time to plant grass. It lies dormant over the winter and begins to grow in the spring. It should be ready for 2010.That is going to disappoint a hell of a lot of students. It's been the thing they have been talking about the most with the Stadium is the grass berm seating and if they don't have that for the students it's an epic fail on the part of the program.
  12. That's why the brothels out in Nevada do so much advertising. Are you saying that we can get the same entertainment at the Info as we can at the Moon Light Bunny Ranch?
  13. Well someone messed up, they are pulling down the scoreboard components.
  14. I believe the Roo-A logo is for the press tower.
  15. Anyone hear anything on how this program turned out?I remember hearing about it at the turn of the year, and never heard anything else about it.Walk of Champions
  16. The coaches will want the scoreboard (more specifically, the clocks) operating in time for practices.Figure they'll also be putting up the poles and nets to catch the extra point and field goal kicks? Two of the coaches bought wrist watches so the scoreboard clock will not really be required for practice.Would it not be beneficial for the clocks to be in the approprate locations so the players can becaome accustomed to them? I figure that is part of the home field advantage. The reason they use the clocks during practices is that so all of the coaches can see at a glance how much time is left in each particular drill. With 120 or so people spread out around the field doing all different things, a couple of wristwatches aren't enough. But hey, why waste an opportunity to make a snarky remark. Some people on the list apparently live for it.Yeah, except I believe they were referring to the Play Clocks, not the Game Clock.
  17. The coaches will want the scoreboard (more specifically, the clocks) operating in time for practices.Figure they'll also be putting up the poles and nets to catch the extra point and field goal kicks?Looks like they are laying down the road.It won't be the biggest road, but it certainly will be the nicest.
  18. Stub HubAccording to Stub Hub it is.
  19. Here is my prediction for salary...More than the last AD, less than the next AD.
  20. Why are people so reluctant to call it a 25,000 seat stadium? Space for 8,000 SRO doesn't change 25K into 33K seats. Let's be proud that we have the best 25,000 seat stadium in Ohio.I would say it's because it's already existing seat space. The grass berm was specifically designed for seating. It's just non-traditional seating. And the fact of the matter is that it's 27,000 traditional seats and 3,000 grass berm seats with an estimated 3,000 SRO.
  21. Odds are it's either a "vanilla" practice, or the cams go dark. Some of the players were running some routes in the stadium about a week ago or so. The frame rate of the camera is too slow to pick up anything of interest to anyone.
  22. That property is still owned by the Akron Schools. There are ongoing negotiations in regards to using that lot.Wow, how hard is that to get done? We use your lot, you get to play some games in our stadium. You get 30% of gate and concessions for the schools playing that night. You provide your own security during the game.
  23.
  24. I say we should schedule both of them (Wake and North Carolina), we can give them the tour of Akron Public Schools and Tusky Valley and say "Thanks for all the Tobacco money that made this all possible."Seriously though, playing teams like Wake, North Carolina, Syracuse, NC State and winning is how you build notoriety. Because like it or not, everyone in the country thinks that those schools (despite being "bottom rung" of their conference) are vastly superior to us. And if you want attention, you schedule BCS schools you have a good chance of winning and then win. That is not to say any of those teams mentioned are push overs, or that I think we can beat Wake or North Carolina in their current state. I just mean that they are more name than any MAC school we ever play and some we have just as good a chance of beating.
  25. For anyone who has never been on the campus of a truly large school.OSU Main CampusWhat you'll notice from the street grid is that the campus is not just on contiguous land mass. It is divided again and again by roads and highway. Value City Arena is on the other side of the Olentangy. And yes nothing is "downtown" but the school was a land grant school before Columbus ever became what it is today. The point being most large schools aren't 100% pedestrian friendly, and the larger the school, the more acreage it needs.UA is unique in that it has always bordered Downtown Akron. Having any kind of presense on Broadway and High, is no more of a burden to students than having a presense on Mill or Wheeler.
