Exactly, and this new soccer stadium is long overdue. Too long has the soccer team been the best program the school has had, and for too long has the plight of the team gone ignored. It's an elite program and deserves elite facilities. On that note so too does the Rifle team need elite facilities.

After reading what you all had to say, and doing a little more research... The McCready's did in fact donate 5 million to the Institute of Global Business. This was in 2001 at the time it was largest donation the school had seen. From there they did the feasibility study and it looked like they were planning on building the annex to the south of the current CBA building. So that would lead me to believe that a land procurement issue arose. There is an existing building to the south of CBA but I had always assumed it was part of te University already. Farther south is the Old Stone School, a historical landmark, so there could have been tie ups with that. I am going to try and contact someone in Capital Planning to see if can find out if the building is still on the radar. I just don't see spending 200 thousand on a feasibility study to let a project fall to the wayside. The other possibility is that rolling the stadium project pulled all the planning resources in 2005-2006 and they put all projects on hold until the stadium project was complete. Hopefully I can find out.

New BuildingThis was supposed to be completed in 2006. I never have heard anything since then. Anyone got any information on this?

Here's hoping for a quick and speedy recovery. My thoughts and prayers go out to him.

Lake Catholic RB Randy Greenwood commits to Akron
g-mann17 replied to jeaglet1's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
4 INTs. Maybe he can play some DB. Running back is kind of bottle necked. -
Well here is something to ponder. The paint on the traffic barrier, is incredibly similar to Can't's blue. Now it really takes a keen fashion sense to be able to pick out Can't blue from a hardware store shelf.

You can tell from the K.e.n.t practice photo in today's Record-Courier, Julian Edlemann is P-I-S-S-E-D!! Julian looks like he packed on some more muscle for this year too.

The official website has additional information and estimates on completion of the Outdoor Living Room.Uakron.edu StoryPay particular to Memorial Grove. Which will be the likely spot that the plaques from Memorial Hall will be moved.I'm very excited to see more water features on campus. It's a missing part since the University is completely land locked.

I can comprehend it. I was an OSU fan until they won the National Championship. I was an OSU fan through all the Cooper years. The reason I am not a fan now, is because of all the front runners plain and simple. So yes I want to see OSU fail. Not out of jealousy. (Do you really think any of us grew up a Zips fan? No we are all indoctrinated with who our families root for.) No, I want to see them fail so I don't have to see them in my home town paper everyday, so I don't have to see a bunch of pop colored douchebags running around with OSU gear they picked up even though they are attending OU, Miami, Can't, and yes Akron. I don't like people who are fans of winners because they are winners. Like the Indians fans of the late 90's who never even stepped foot into Muni. The only issue I have with you, is the fact that you come on here talking OSU. It's a Zip board. Unless we are playing, or we get a transfer OSU should not be mentioned on this board. They have nothing to do with us. And everyone on here that absolutely hates them (for what ever reason they have) has a right to hate them, whether it's jealousy, because they weren't accepted, or because they are shoved down our throats day in and day out and called great, when they (and any BCS school for that matter) only play, at most, a total of 5 really good schools the entire year.

I hope you aren't comparing Torrence to an adult. At the time of the alleged incident, he was 17. As for the rest of the hemming and hawing over this, let it go. He was acquitted. Let's just see what happens.

It depends on perspective. Florida, compared to other year's teams, sucked. And it was a play on the fact that they lost to Michigan, who every OSU fan thinks sucked because they lost to a 1AA school. And the fact that I want OSU to be terrible because I'm sick of them and all their front running fans. But I'm sure you can't wrap your suckeye brain around that.

Amen, finally someone who agrees with me on here. I don't see where everyone is getting all this negativity about how we are going to win 2 or 3 games this year. We have some decent to above average talent at most every position. And the positions that we have very good to great talent at are some of the most important in the game. Or defense looks pretty darn good up front along with the offense front. Basically, if we are fine at QB, WR and Linebacker....we will win some games. We are fine everywhere else already.Well it's because way too much credit is being given to teams like Temple (4-8) [the next team to join the Big East, except they were the last team kicked out of the Big East]; Buffalo (5-7); Can't State (3-9). The problem is that right now the MAC is a grab bag conference. Anyone who has a little luck *CoughMIAMI2007* *CoughAKRON2005* can win their division. Yes BGSU will probably be pretty tough. Outside of them (and we don't have to play Miami this year) we have Temple; Buffalo; Can't; and Ohio. Two hype teams that are really not any good and then Can't and Ohio. Anyone who doesn't see that we will not do any worse then last year (4-8) which was just simply a chaotic offensive year that lacked any kind of identity, is the one with the issue. Not to mention we have the new worst team in the Big East on our schedule in Syracuse; and an Army team that should consider being a FCS team. Because this is football and anything can happen (ask Michigan) we can be anywhere from 10-2 realistically and 4-8. But if we finish any worse then 4-4 in the MAC (which is what matters right now) then JD needs to be seriously re-evaluated. Remember we have loads of talent on this team, just a lot of it is inexperienced. Also with a blue chip running back (and yes Torrence should be a running back we have plenty of LB depth) that will be chomping at the bit, a proven quality back in Allen (who will probably see a lot of slot work), Kennedy, the intangible in Johnson, and an offensive line full of experience and talent, we damn sure better find a way to run the ball. Which takes all the QB questions and throws it out the window. If you can run the ball, anyone can throw the ball ask Anderson or Roethlisberger.

BFH--Get the hell off this board...Screw Beanie....Go spend your time on tosu's board.I have never seen BFH hassle us either, unlike Buckzip or that other idiot that used to be on here all the time. Hey I know Wells is a OSU player, but I hope he wins the Heisman sometime too. That's because I am an Akron Public Schools graduate and it would be huge for the community where he grew up (Garfield; Firestone Park). Plus just like that jerk-off Tebow proved, you can win the Heisman on a sucky team.

The article did lead the sports section. However it is none too flattering. It basically calls the team desperate. Mcmanamon also comes off as though the kid shouldn't get a second chance. And that Torrence is a headache. It's funny to me because if he had been going to OSU, it would have been how great the Buckeyes are for giving the kid a second chance. But because it's the Zips, they must be desperate and willing to take anyone. It's funny because all of the Beacon's heroes, Cribbs (drug possession, intent to sell); Vrabel (menacing, beating of an individual); Jamal Lewis (federal drug investigation) all were charged and plead guilty in some form or fashion. Yet you never hear a bad word about them. I don't know, maybe my view is just too clouded.

Hey CK, according to the roster, Larry Dawson caught on with us.He is listed as a DB and not an RB. That is interesting. Now that I've had the chance to look, I don't see him anywhere on the roster. Try this roster...updated 2008 football roster
-
If we could, would that take up one scholarship or two?

Hey CK, according to the roster, Larry Dawson caught on with us.He is listed as a DB and not an RB. That is interesting. He's a much better DB then RB anyway. His coaches always tried to get him to focus on DB but he thought he could be a good runner. His junior year he had 9 interceptions.

Razor says Devoe may be coming aboard. As many have said here, JD's job maybe in jeopardy. The decision to offer a scholarship is easier if he may be gone next year.Rasor on the ZipsI don't know what to say....I'm not very happy about this. Was the guy acquitted? Yes. Would another team, possibly a MAC team, picked him up? Yes. I still am concerned as the guy was in this situation in the first place, which leads me to believe he doesn't have the best judgement. Assuming he is indeed with the Zips, he is going to be around the same group of friends that he got into this mess with in the first place, and we all know what this can lead to..... I'm glad to see that JD is working so hard to bring in quality players.....just like he was doing 3-4 years ago. Well, that may be true but going to some other school doesn't mean you will stay out of trouble, just as staying in the same area doesn't mean you will get in trouble. How many of those "friends" are on the Zips team? Few and far between. And as far as taking "quality" people are concerned people always make the comparison between the horrible Florida schools like Miami and FSU with all the crime their athletes get into, but look at the honorific, quality, nice guy Penn State. Forty-six players, 163 criminal charges, since 2002.

See and everyone wanted to give me shit for bringing it back up."he's not right for the team" blah, blah, blahI just hope this kid is as good as OSU thought he was. And I hope he doesn't even fart in his sleep. Because rest assured if he does, the Beacon, and all the JD haters will be saying he's just another bad recruit in a long list of troubled JD recruits.

Yay! It's Buckzip, back to only give a rat's ass about OSU and bash the lowly Akron Football program. The one that has no chance against anyone and the one that got creamed by OSU last year. Yep they got beat so bad by OSU who never opened their playbook against in a water logged game where fumbles and turnovers were such a huge deal that the lowly Akron Defense scored the first two points of the game. An Akron team that was huge losers. Hey Buckzip, if we have no chance in anything, why not stop paying attention completely. You lousy troll.

The second half of the Pressbox/loge tower is really starting to get some vertical steel. I thought the first half was rather imposing the last time I toured campus but once it's a full 100 yards it's going to look very massive.

He sure wouldn't have. Also note that you can put as many diamonds as you want on a piece of shit, but it's always going to be a piece of shit.
-
It's done everywhere, even in high school. Is it a good idea? I'm indifferent to it really because it really doesn't matter much other than it shows which teams get respect (CMU) and which ones don't (EMU).

Thanks for coming around to my point. Answer this question... Why are they going to keep it simple in the first game? If you ignore two reasons, you are missing out. First reason: They don't want any other team to know what they have. Second reason: The reduction in spring practices has perhaps created some glaring deficiencies is their back up players (QB) they don't want other to notice.Lastly, claiming contradiction does not equal contradiction. Very high school debate club move. I expect better out of you. Future lawyer?Ok now John Kerry, see what you did? Your argument was this "they will have to open up their playbook and that's the last thing they want to show the first week of the season."And now you are adding the points I made. The fact is, opening up the playbook has nothing to do with not wanting to show what they do. Everyone knows what they do. They want to keep it simple because they haven't had the reps. That's why schools play non-conference first. So they can perfect what they do before it really matters. Lastly, your contradiction was contradiction because you said one thing, and completely argued against your original thought later on down the line. Future politician?
