  1. Bad timing on that one.
  2. Maybe a nice good hearted future hall of fame alumni could chip in to hook us up with the new uni's.
  3. Oh wow, battle of the preseason over-rateds right there.
  4. Not to mention that the footprint of the North Endzone Building going in.
  5. Dude, I don't know who you are or how you did that, but those uniforms are amazing! Great work! Yeah I'm sold too, the all gold is awesome. I like the white helmet too. Send that to Mack pronto.
  6. On a less serious note, since I've never met Bain, I am beginning to wonder if he looks like this...
  7. Do you not think that the Athletics Department could have used a stiffer penalty then what previous NCAA violations dictate in order to stem any possible NCAA sanctions on Bain or the program itself?
  8. Well i'm not a big fan of that yellow either, if that is the color of your urine you live to close to the Nucleur Plant.
  9. It's a jump ball, 3-4 yards into the endzone. The idea of the route is that the receiver runs into the endzone turns and looks for the ball. Ideally the ball is thrown quick enough to where the defender's options are A. Turn around and risk being wrong on the timing of the throw and the route. B. Put your hands up and stay in the receiver's face and hope you block the ball. (per college rules a defender does not have to face the ball to defend it)Jacq put the ball where the defender could not see it, and put the ball where Bowser had a chance to catch it and stay in bounds. Jacq threw a good ball. Deal with it.
  10. It's not about the people on the board not liking OSU. That's not part of of it. I even indicated that in my post. No it's about the fact that we do recruit from areas where the kids don't care for OSU. They are Penn State fans, Michigan fans, Purdue fans. You basically state that we should schedule OSU because we are an Ohio school and all other big programs we should give the thumbs down to if they won't play us at home. That's poor logic. Do you not think that the recurits we have from Appalachia Ohio and Western PA don't want to go to Beaver Stadium and play a program that snubbed them? I'm for money games. Especially when the money game pays better then any bowl game we might qualify for unless we manage an undefeated season. Do I think we should play Penn State, OSU, and Michigan in the same year? No. Do I think we should schedule them on a once a year rotation? Yes. Because it is a great recruiting tool for the pipeline states we recruit in. Hell if we could get a game against Georgia Tech that would be a big coup for our Atlanta recruiting base.Since I'm on UA1987's ignore list, you can inform him I'm actually 13 living in my mother's basement and I haven't been to a Zips game in decades. Putting the PSU-OSU argument aside, you also mentioned scheduling as a recruiting tool. While I agree that a schedule that has a major BCS opponent on it may entice a kid to commit to UA- as opposed to selling them on coming here and then having to take a bus to Middle Tennessee, for example. But I'm not buying that playing tosu is this really great recruiting tool. Does it hurt in recruiting? No- But what type of player did we recruit in 2005 and 2006 because tosu was on the schedule in 2007 that we wouldn't have signed if they were not on the schedule? Honestly, did we sign a player who was going to BG or Miami for example, but changed his mind. Other MAC schools play them to. Where is the impact?Every year there are 2-3 dozen or more D1-BCS caliber Ohio seniors that don't get the big, bad tosu call and every year these same guys end up at Illinois, Mich State, Iowa, Indiana, UC, Pitt, Northwestern, etc. So again I ask, where is the real recruiting advantage gained by playing them? The biggest recruiting advantage?Simple. Cash, so that you can spend more time on the road pitching your program and less time in a conference hall finding ways to raise funds.

  12. What am I missing? You rip the AD for scheduling Penn State, yet tosu is an exception? Huh?Over the last decade PSU has been pretty good a few years and really average the others. Take the chance we catch them on a down year and take the cash as well. I am banking on Mack getting FMV for the game, unlike what tosu paid us last year- yet you want to schedule them?Over half of our team hails from Ohio. It is the dream of almost every young football player from Ohio to play for OSU. Where have you been? Ohio State has developed a history and a winning tradition. A game in Ohio Stadium is truely a recruiting tool for those athletes that get snubbed by that program. So there's your exception. Duh.What a stupid exception! Is sounds like you just want to watch OSU. Now playing tosu is a recruiting tool, yet a very large number of current players on the roster hail from Pennsylvania and playing PSU isn't a recruiting tool? Ridiculous.I thought you wanted wins...not recruiting tools...What are you 12 years old. I don't talk to little kiddies if I can help it. Welcome to my ignore list.Really? That is just pathetic. You have a horrible argument and then just talk circles to support it. It must be fun being on a board where you ignore everyone whose opinion is different then your own.
  13. Your logic fails to recognize people that hate OSU (and no I don't mean us Zips fan boys) but there are plenty of people in Ohio that grow up dreaming of playing at Michigan, Penn State, or Michigan State to play where their childhood heroes played. You have a very Ohio-centric view point. And considering that only about 40% of our roster hails from Ohio completely negates your "OSU is a different story" argument. Fact is playing big time programs are a viable recruiting tool for non-BCS schools. No matter who the big time program is. It's the good ole "prove you're better" type deal. Bottom line, if you are going to argue against the money game, you argue against all money games. You don't get to pick and choose.
  14. I have a lot of respect for Sheehan. He is a hell of a QB proficient, accurate, and big. But as an aside. The offense is not "high powered". To date Sheehan has 6 TD passes. He can move the ball, make no mistake about that. But he averages only 9.8 yards per completion. Compared to Jacq's 11.8.Also BGSU is averaging 23.4 (thru 5 games) points per game. Compared to our 25 (thru 6 games). The offenses are more evenly matched then we would think. The big issue is that BGSU doesn't have a plethora of "almost completion interceptions" like we do. They don't have a ton of turnovers in general. Hopefully our nation leading number of fumble recoveries comes into play a little and evens out the turnover ratio a bit in this game.
  15. And you just answered the question of "Is Mack leaving anytime soon?"If in 2010 a conference announcement is not made, then "Buh-Bye" Rhoades. But please don't think he is jumping ship before then because he was the AD when the Stadium that was planned 2 AD's ago is finally getting completed. He signed with with 3 major goals1. Improve the University athletic program's academic standing. (not completely accomplished; football graduation rate resulting in NCAA sanctions, other sports represented well in Academic All American fashion with acceptable graduation rates)2. Improve the University's overall athletic facilities. (football stadium, softball, still need improvements to soccer stadium, baseball facilities: not accomplished)3. Position the University for advancement to a more prestigious conference. (association with Big East in several sports, track, golf, football, soccer, rifle, diving: not accomplished) This is not the resume of a person who is leaving at the end of the year.
  16. Yep it would have been out of bounds and an incomplete pass. Jacq put the ball where it needed to be so that Bowser was the only one with a chance to catch it.
  17. I don't know, the way I see it, Igor prefaced his statement with "Well I'm 21" meaning since it's legal for me to do I am going to go drink. It's not like he said "I'm grabbing the whole team and we are going to get drunk".
  18. kind of like this guy?A lot like him. In fact, I would not be surprised to see a similar end game. Can't frozen in time, only to be thawed out to play 1-AA/FCS.
  19. Hello everyone from sunny Florida. Yes, there are good teams in the MAC East, and one of them is The University of Akron.Like you said, just win the east. Six wins could do it for us. We are at three and we need three more.Quite possibly the most light hearted, optimistic post I've ever seen from GP1. What's the occasion? Sunny Florida I would guess.
  20. I think that Can't tends to play up against us under Edelman. But I think that the game overall was supposed to be Can't's "nut" but they are such inept "blind squirrels" they managed to have the nut, hold the nut, and then lose the nut. At least I really hope so.I also hope Brookhart and Moorehead are watching the hell out of the EMU - BGSU game tape.
  21. To me the Can't commercials have always had the appearance of a community college. They feel like the Tri-C commercials. Akron, while they don't focus on the programs seem to have always had a more modern feel, and the sweeping veiws of campus compares to what Big East and Big 10 schools do.Of course it's probably a younger generation vs older generation thing. Like with the uniforms.
  22. Lots of trenching and concrete being poured for the north endzone building. :-)Also, I am curious about something. They have done the top overhang on the suite/press tower. In the computer depictions there is a balcony above the club level seating. Wouldn't this balcony require some steel? If so how are they going to install that?
  23. I remember 2006...Pulling into Applebees. Next to another car. This anorexic hippie looking at the back door of my wife's car. "Fear the roo huh? We're going to beat you!" she said right to my face"I don't think so hippie." was my quick whitted resposne to her piss colored shirt.I have never been so disgusted with the performance of my alma mater as I was that day. Making Edelman look like some all-world QB.This is year is different. The defense seems to have a better handle on QB's that run around. The offense is much more potent (even if our top two running backs are down). The team was disappointed last week, mostly because they didn't finish. But it's perfect to have a rivalry game following a loss like Cinci. Mostly because it forces you to bring emotion to your game. You have to forget the rest of the season. This week, the offense is going to finish every play, every drive. My prediction: Zips 38 - Piss Rags 17
  24. Yes except Oregon is the research university for Nike, so Nike pumps a ton of money into the school and tests a lot of equipment and design with the various athletic programs. Most if not all of Oregon's equipment and uniforms is paid for by Nike.
