  1. I actually think that the Big East already is looking strongly at Akron. The football program winning will not make or break a bid. The home attendance for Big East opponents and our success against Big East programs in all sports including non-revenue sports is what will make or break the bid. Oh and the schools ability to pay the conference's entry fee. So show up for Cinci in two weeks, and pray we can play against them competively.
  2. He absolutely hates it. There's only FORTY THREE Ohio players on the Zips roster. Yep 43 players that cover almost every corner of the state. JD sure hates recruiting most of Ohio.
  3. How about pirogi, sauerkraut, keishka and a case of Iron City?(why is the orange fuzzy?Perhaps because it went bad years ago.
  4. Card a l'Orange?
  5. Ahem "Excellence in action"
  6. Don't really see Louisville on there either.

  8. Those totally reak havoc on your tires. Might just have to take my wife's jeep instead of my car.
  9. I love this win as much as everyone, but Syracuse does suck. You're right, the Orange are not a very good team, and we handled them as such. It's part of the whole "beating the teams you should" thing that everyone talks about. Syracuse is a team we should beat and we handled them, not squeeked out a win like we did against NC State. No, we put up points on them and beat them by 14. We scored more points and more consistantly on this team then Northwestern did the week before.
  10. So after 2 games (against the #12 team in the nation and a BCS school) we have...42-62 for 487 yds 5 td 1 int Can we all agree that he has improved quite a bit in his decision making?
  11. Bryan Williams
  12. I agree he had a lot of tackles and that looks impressive. However, they were all way down field. It's not like he was making hits at or behind the LOS.It shows our lack of recruiting when a Soph walkon is starting.Yep dirty walkons, just drag the team down.Like this guy...Mike Schmidtand this guy...SmithShows a total lack of recruiting on the parts of those teams too.
  13. Well it looks like Can't is taking a strong stand this time. Indefinite suspension. Most likely to free up the scholarship for that other felon that they just let walk-on.
  14. The best part of the article is that after the negativity regarding Can't State, the #5 ranked UA men's soccer team is mentioned along with the promotion of Coach Boals. Beautiful!Apparently I have to get up pretty early to post Can't Statecks Slams ahead of everyone else. LOL LOL

  16. That looks good for all parties.
  17. I like the 40 second clock rule change. Now officials have to get the ball placed and ready to go.I disagree with the elimination of the 5-yard incidental face mask penalty. To many drives are influenced by penalties as it is. 15 yards for this infraction is too generous...I disagree with the "horse collar" penalty. Basically it gives an advantage to any ball carrier. And I watched the pro refs get this call wrong all season. It's supposed be called for the times when a person grabs the shoulder pads and aggressively falls or pulls the ball carrier backward. The NFL was calling this at times when a person would use it to slow a runner or guide them out of bounds. I can't imagine how much the MAC officials will screw up these calls. The time issues, to appease the networks, is kind of funny to me. What's next get rid of the multiple possession OT format that exits now? I mean I understand that ABC has to get their paid commercial on by 4:30 etc. But really College ball is already played on the worst TV day of the week. The networks should be happy they can sell an extra 30 minute time slot for commercials.
  18. Woo Hoo! The beginning scratches are being made in preperation for the north endzone building (fieldhouse). The Sidewalk is pretty much all gone. There could be some serious digging too if there aren't any major lines running under that side of the street.
  19. That is probably the most exciting comment I've seen. Yes, and I have a feeling he'll be taking over the men's BB program at the school from his father in a couple of years.
  20. Well I got official word from the University. The plans are on hold until additional funding is available. The University holds it in a high priority.
  21. I've often wondered the same thing. Everything is going to fail if it happens in Akron. Akron is a shit-hole with the worst schools and highest crime rate. When statistically speaking none of it is true.I understand, bad attitude because you lost your Union Tire job, where you could dick around and make 30 tires a day. And that you could go on strike because they took everyone's favorite cupcakes out of the break room. (i'm not anti-union, i'm anti-striking that's what arbitration is for). But do you really have to hate everything that is new and better. And I know that there are some people on here that are Anti-Mayor. But these people fail to realize that the majority of the rubber jobs left before he ever took office, and there was little he could do to stop the remainder of the factory work from leaving because of the ground work the prior administrations had left him. But anytime anything goes wrong it's his fault. Any time anything good happens it's "oh Mayor is lining his pockets some more". Get over it. And you are right, Akron could gift everyone with 100,000 a year jobs, and machines that pushed filet, prime rib, and any other kind of food you could imagine. Give everyone free transportation, put the entire city under a dome to keep it a cool 72 degrees year round, let people vote if they want it to snow. And they would still bitch about something. I used to think it was just trolls, but now I think people are just generally happy thinking miserable thoughts and posting them.
  22. Can a major Market St Corridor Project be far behind? It's already happening. They're re-paving the whole East half of Market, giving it new sidewalks, planting trees, planting grass, ect. The only thing they need to do is find a way to move all those businesses with eyesore-buildings.They really need to change the name of the section from Buchtel to Rt 8 to Summa Blvd.
  23. Can a major Market St Corridor Project be far behind?
  24. This is interesting. Before I rip apart the idea of putting kids drawings on a D-1A ticket, I would like to know if this is true for all tickets. Do reserved tickets have this as well? My guess is it is true because it would be too much to have two types of season tickets. Here is what you see when you go onto the Miami web page.. Here is what you see on Go Zips. It really does not take a trained professional to see that one school is doing something different to try to sell tickets by using the internet and the physical ticket as a selling tool. Is using kids drawings on tickets really the best we can do? Well you have two ways to look at this. The way you are looking at it. orThe fact that Miami is concerned with the past (ala showing a bunch of people who have little relevance in today's world). And Akron is trying to build for the future by getting children interested in the Zips. Now granted my version gives a lot of credit to Akron's Marketing, but you see my point. Kids can drive the market. You don't see sell outs and parents fighting to get their hands on Pet Rocks anymore, but try to find Wii right now. Plus there is the whole building a sense of ownership thing.
  25. Whether you meant JD should be gone if he loses, but Rhoades won't. Or if you actually feel he deserves to be around. Think about this...Out of 4 years, JD has made us Bowl Eligible for Two and won us a MAC Championsip. That is more then Faust and Owens managed to do in 18 years. Not to mention it is more success then the program has seen in probably 30 years. It was the MAC Championship that spurred the donations. The hope that the Zips could be successful. Oh sure, someone will say, well it's been on the table for a long time, and the previous AD laid all the ground work, etc. The fact is without that MAC Championship they would still be having trouble finding a way to make people believe they are going to get any value out of donating for naming rights. So yeah, I kind of think you give JD a little more then 2 bad seasons (each of which were filled with injuries and youth).
