All I can guarantee is two. So that is on my part, I have considered giving 20 lucky office workers a dollar each and telling them they have to go (no umbrellas allowed by the way).

Not trying to start a flame war, but I wish you all would realize that we don't have "homestands" we aren't YSU and we aren't a high school. We have West Stands (press tower) and East Stands. I mean the south seating area (the berm and the 2 adjacent sections on both sides of the field) is going to be designated as the student section. There is reserved seating on both sides of the field. General admission is going to be from the 30 yard to the goal line on both sides. Please people we have to get out of this low class mentality.

I believe that refreshed O-line and D-line along with Bruce having time to go out and buy a pair of hands will be the big turning point. Jeremy Bruce 115 yds 2 TDs in an Akron win over Toledo... 31-13

My inital assumption of any future expansion has always been to wrap that stands around the north endozone, butting some seats all the way up to the North Endzone Facility. I believe that was the main purpose behind desiging the NEF with the angled sides. I do believe they are building the NEF to support the added weigh, but also the majority of that load would be where Vine is. The city has pretty much given the university permission to kill that street anyway. The one argument against this, is that it takes out any view of campus for the people sitting inside the stadium. Looking at the renderings, and proximity of the Residence halls, it is not hard to imagine stands where the grass berm is, and then a second tier behind that where the current Plaza and scoreboard now sit. The scoreboard would then be moved to the north endzone.Either way we won't have to worry about it for at least 5 years and more likely 10. And if we don't get all of friends and students to show up to the games and some very successful teams, we won't have to worry about any expansion at all.

Quote from Eastern Michigan's head coach - MACREPORTONLINE.com; Around the MAC; Scheduling Model'Eastern Michigan head coach Jeff Genyk acknowledged during his weekly press conference Monday that he would have been surprised at the start of the season if he had been told that the Cardinals would be the first ranked opponent the Eagles would be facing this season but believes the Cardinals' scheduling model this season is both one that has benefited Ball State's surge in the rankings and is one that other MAC schools should try to emulate in the future. Any time that our conference administration or university administration can schedule to have a chance to go undefeated brings tremendous notoriety to the university and the whole conference, said Genyk in discussing Ball State's non-conference schedule. It's hard to put a dollar amount on playing the big guarantee game - going out and playing an Oklahoma. Granted, you make $600-700-800,000, but if you have a chance to go undefeated for the first seven games now you have a sold-out stadium and increased support from alumni. So how does that parallel from a financial standpoint? I think it's (the notoriety and the national ranking) great for the MAC and shows every institution that if you get it rolling a bit, amazing things can happen.'It seems the idea of playing a guarantee payday game (away only contract) is not everyone's idea of an ideal scheduling model. We should all wake up and realize the name of the game in college football scheduling is schedule to win not schedule to make money in order to fund non-revenue sports at the University. Yes, we need to play two OOC top 50 teams every year for fan interest, but only if they would play here at least once as part of the contract (won't play here, then, bye bye as home field is a great advantage)... We've been over this before in previous topics on this forum. Money will follow the wins, especially in Northeast Ohio. Winning tradition 1st, then money from the fans will follow, then recruiting rises... the program is elevated, and big revenue and big time games where we would have a very good chance of winning would then be a long term reality. We have the Info on it's way, I'm trying to see that we don't build our forward schedule like we are still playing in the Rubber Bowl.I'm not trying to be too cynical with this but...Ask Toledo how going undefeated has worked out for them? They are a historic MAC success like Miami, but that is about it.Ask Marshal how being a ranked MAC team is paying out in the long run? They used it to move to a more "prestigious" conference where they have been nothing more then a failure. There are several factors, and several ways to get noticed. Ball State has benefitted from a good schedule and a lot of Top 25 turmoil. That and they have a number of NFL caliber athletes. That is what factors into the ranking. Whether it propels them or not? Who knows. It depends on the depth of the program, the chances of their coach sticking around (a lot of teams are looking for a coach). I would rather see wins but 6 sell out games of 31,000 times 20 dollars a ticket plus MAC championship money and bowl money is $4,720,000. While 6 sell out games, a MAC championship, and bowl money, plus a money game is $5,520,000.The point is, it's more money and similar notoriety. And until you can guarantee that we will win 12 in a row (and Ball State hasn't even accomplished that yet) it's not even beneficial. On a final note. Ball State being 12-0 and being in the MAC Championship and being number 20 or whatever they make it up to. Is not going to be anymore note worthy than Marshall, Toledo, or BGSU who has done it before them. Would I like to say that we have done that? Hell yes, but is it that big of deal on a national scale? Hell no. I will go out on a limb and say that Ball State won't finish undefeated though. So the point is moot.

Here's a preview of Can't's new uni'sThat's very Fl-a-shy. Just slap a piss stream..er..lightning bolt down the side and it's perfect.

I don't know, something alone the lines of...The first rule of sucking...The first rule of crying...Say you dominated...except for the pointsThe first rule of losing...
-
Is it anymore frustrating to think if we had continued the way we were going against Can't that we would be out of it?Yeah we lost to BG, that's just the way the chips fall, it sucks. But we still have the chance, that doesn't happen that often. So forget about the BG loss, there's nothing the team can do about it, and think positive about the fact that if we can win out we can roll into a bowl game and a MAC championship.

I think what this guy was saying is..."All your base are belong to us."Either that or he was trying to do a comparison. Like pee is no match to diarhea. Something along those lines.

The topping off ceremony is done as soon as the highest level of a structure is reached. It doesn't have to be the final beam of the building. They wanted the dignitaries to have the best whether possilbe on top of it.As for the beam, they probably did paint over parts of it.

maybe we should do it to the zips thenI was going to ask this question as new thread, but this seems as good a thread as any to chime in. Does the NCAA require/mandate that the home team wear dark jerseys? If not, why don't we go with the white jerseys for the upcoming home games? They seem to be working out pretty well on the road this year. It's always been my understanding that the home team get's to choose their jersey color. The only stipulation is that the visiting team is made aware of the change well before a scheduled travel date.

I can only imagine that the articles are not edited all that well. Besides that error you mentioned there are a lot of missing words.

Reading the full speaches from the ceremony two things really hit home to me.First, it's great to see that we are only about 4 million away from the projected private contributions needed for the stadium. By the time the gates and North Endzone building are named we should meet or exceed the private contributions (hopefully we exceed).Second, is the number of season tickets, and therefore the attendance, that have already happened for next season. All 16 loges, with 16 seats each... 256 in attendance31 of 38 loges. Which I believe seat 4...124 in attendance819 Priority reserved...819 in attendance445 reserved...445 in attendance108 faculty/staff...108 in attendanceNow this is the big one. 500 family packages. This is a 4 ticket package. so you are talking 2000 in attendanceThat is already 3752 in attendance. You factor in the minimum 1500 students that always show up. We already have 5000+ or 1/6 of the stadium full for the entirity of next year.Hopefully the AK-Rowdies are pushing recruiting so that endzone berm is full of white shirts and thundersticks for next year. And hopefully we can win out to really get momentum building to meet the Athletic Departments goal of 8000 season ticket packages sold.
-
Which would then require the coining of another term "Can't yourself'. "We've Kented ourselves twice this year."
-
Yeah because they have 100% of the experience, and about 110% of extra time in the weight room. Quit with the conspiracies. I'm glad I asked.
-
By default, the MAC East winner is number 2, if they finish 6-6 and lose the championship game, they would still get a bowl because they finished the regular season with 6 wins and a .500 record. However, I say win out and we don't have to worry about it any of it.

I'll bite...Who is being benched because of coaching vendettas?
-
Or the defense needs to let him actually keep a double digit lead he has accrued while managing the game. Let's not forget two games, two double digit leads, two instances where we went from leading to trailing. But yeah that's all on one interception in the BG game, and 1 Fumble in the EMU game. Most QB's are allotted 1 or 2 mistakes a game, but Jacq has to be flawless? No the defense has to learn to suck it up in the 4th quarter and make the stops we need.
-
To bring this back to the top, and since we have an 18 day wait for another football game...I think that they will done with the majority of the steel on the press/loge tower this week. Which means the lighting framework would be next on the block. Also they are starting to get some where with the (assumed) restroom walls on the east side of the stadium. My guess is the forms for the upper stands should start going in sometime around the beginning of next year.

No I can't stand Anderson, But anyone on here that is a Browns fan, who apparently suffer from major short term amnesia (probably from banging their heads against a wall as Anderson performs horribly yet again) will retort that "Anderson and the Browns are back baby". (I just wish I had posted this before last nights shamble)

Outrage! - Zippy named fifth worst mascot in country
g-mann17 replied to MDZip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I find it interesting that she references the Capital One Mascot Challenge. Zippy is the only Mascot to go undefeated in that competition. I checked the standings this year and all of them have at least 2 losses already. -
BioInnovation Institute of Akron

My understanding is that Memorial Hall would be replaced by a new College of Education building. Since the Science, Engineering and Nursing building are on the west side of campus it would be interesting to see where another polymer science building would go. There has been talk of acquiring the land where Wonder sits, but I thought I had heard International Baking didn't have to file bankruptcy as anticipated. My dream is to see something with architectural signifigance built and for us to expand into the vacant areas north of Market and south of Perkins/MLK.Like Here. -
From the JournalIt would appear that the University will get at least one new building out of this immediately.Official website of the InstituteThis is really big for the community and another big project from our great President. Proenza has done amazing things and should be honored and hailed as the greatest president the school has ever had.
-
Um, CSU would have to go FCS first. Besides that CSU doesn't need a football program. It would be a waste of the University's money. Everything that this president is talking about completely contradicts the concepts of the University System of Ohio. For crying out loud CSU had to turn over their research arm to the University of Akron. They should just focus on their indoor small venue sports that brings in a lot of quality students.

After looking at our final 5 games of the season, there is quite a good possibility (though with the youth we have we can't take anything for granted) that we can finish with a a winning record.First is EMU (2-5, 1-2 MAC). Their one MAC win is over BGSU, which they promptly followed up with a loss to Army. The other win on their schedule is to FCS Indiana St.Then we have our long by semi-month. And come home to face Toledo.Toledo (2-4, 1-1 MAC) Has a huge upset against Michigan (likely this year's Minnesota, they are going through a huge shake in the systems they run). Their other huge win is EMU. Next up is probably the consensus toughest opponent. Buffalo (2-4, 1-2 MAC). While they only have wins over Temple and UTEP, they have played two MAC West opponents in WMU and CMU. Buffalo's next three weeks will really tell us if the team has any potential at all or is just what Buffalo has always been. They face Army, Ohio, and Miami, and if Buffalo is not 5-4 when they come into the Rubber Bowl we know the preseason expectations were a whole lot of hype. To our benefit they will be coming to close the Rubber Bowl, and hopefully we have a bit of pride in trying to close her down on a good note.Next up is Ohio (2-5, 1-2 MAC). With wins over VMI Can't. We finish with Temple (2-5, 1-2 MAC), They have beaten Army, and Miami (Oh). Temple who is very much down this year with key injuries. It is possible, none of the teams are better then we are, Buffalo is the only team that scares me (other then ourselves by letting teams back into the game). We can finish 7-5, and very easily 8-4.
