I attended and this was one of my major questions (the grey shirts from last year). Kevin Mills, Stargell and a wideout (I want to say Josh Smith) are on the film and on the team. The O Lineman from Roosevelt was a non-qualifier so don't know his status yet. I know there were a couple of others from last year but I couldn't recall their names - should have been better prepared. Reading between the lines and my bet only - The OL from Firestone will transfer here.

I'm starting to guess the old Sherlock Holmes answer - the number never was 13. Several on here tried to verify it with no luck. That along with shuffling in and out of the roster, especially with players that signed last year and never made the roster may explain it.

Looks like some updates on Scouts including a new one - Mikee Hayes http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&a...amp;nid=6770627 Also OLB Jon Shelby - JUCO http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&a...amp;nid=6770623

http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&a...amp;nid=5089119 Although I see they also list him as a DB. Looks like Arizona just added a JUCO QB commit on 12/2. May have something to do with it.

Here is the apparent answer on at least one of them. I will do some checking on the rest of your list soon. Apparently Darryl Waters ended up at Lamar U.

Anyone know why this player isn't getting any serious looks? Zero offers from what I can see. Israel Green, Trotwood-Madison (Trotwood, Ohio) The 5-foot-9, 200-pound junior running back helped the Rams cap a 15-0 season with a Division II state title by producing a record-breaking game. The Rams, who finished state runner-up in 2010, defeated Avon (Avon, Ohio) 42-28 as Green set an all-division title game record of six touchdowns while rushing 35 times for a Division II finals' record of 326 yards -- second best for all divisions. He scored four touchdowns in the first half and added the final two in the third quarter. Green ended the season with 2,085 yards and 27 touchdowns on 222 carries and could be one of the top college prospects among Ohio running backs next season. In addition to this honor for Green, the Rams were deemed as a worthy FAB 50 program with the No. 42 ranking.

Definitely a low point in my 40 or so years of watching Zips football. The team that played Tennessee would have won today. The team that played last week in Portage County would have won today. The team that played today would not have beaten Youngstown State.

I'll take a guess that this is targeted toward my post. You might as well delete my ID because I won't be back.

Tuesday, January 31 2012 Morgantown High School All-State defensive lineman Christian Allen will live out his dream and play Division I football for the Akron Zips. On Monday, Allen was offered a scholarship and gave his commitment to the Zips coaching staff and new head coach Terry Bowden. Akron was the only school to offer the 6-foot-2 fullback/defensive lineman. The star Mohigan wasn’t the most highly recruited player entering his senior season and Allen actually did some recruiting of his own. When he heard Bowden became the new head coach at Akron he sent his tape out to Ohio to see what his chances would be. Fortunately, for Allen, things turned out very well. “Once he got the job at Akron I sent my highlight video to him and they said they were interested me,” said Allen. “They asked for me to come out for an official visit and I did that last weekend. They call me today (Monday) and offered me a full scholarship.” “When I went there it felt like home, just like Morgantown and the facilities are great there,” continued Allen. The Morgantown native becomes the 13th verbal commitment in the Zips’ 2012 recruiting class. At 6-foot-2 and 247 pounds he will be listed as a fullback on the roster, but depending on how his body develops in the weight room he may switch to the defensive line in the future. The All-State performer has always been around the game of football. He grew up watching Mountaineer games and his brother (Jeff) also played college football and was an All-State performer for the Mohigans. Allen says he’s extremely happy to be able to play his favorite sport in college. “It’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to play Division I football,” said Allen. “I’ve always been around it. One of my friends Tyler Anderson, who plays for West Virginia, he’s been like my role model. I’ve always wanted to play football and saw an opportunity to do it an took it.” On Wednesday, Allen will officially become a member of the Akron football family when he sends his letter of intent to the Zips on National Signing Day.

Agreed about Harding - here is a slightly different article Senior quarterback Dan Harding of Nazareth Area High School was named PIAA Class AAAA Co-Player of the Year. Harding was the Express-Times Football Player of the Year in leading Nazareth to the Lehigh Valley Conference and District 11 Class AAAA titles. Harding threw for 3,749 yards and 32 touchdowns this season. Harding was named co-player along with special teams standout Zayd Issah of Central Dauphin. For his career, Harding holds school records for 5,541 passing yards and 52 touchdowns. Harding, wide receiver Adam Bridgeforth of Nazareth, defensive back Anthony Orlando of Liberty and linebacker Rob Dvoracek of Parkland all made the first team in Class AAAA. Bridgeforth was Harding's favorite target this fall, catching 82 passes for 1,221 yards and eight touchdowns. Pen Argyl standout Dylan Evans made first team running back in Class AA. Evans, also an accomplished defensive back, rushed for 2,064 yards and 29 touchdowns in sparking the Green Knights to the Colonial League and District 11 Class AA titles. Pa. BS Accounting 1985 Took 7.5 years at night for the 4 year degree. Been going to Zip football games since the 60's. Season ticket holder on and off (mostly on) for the last 25+ years.

After a season off for bad behavior (the team's, not mine) I got back into my old season tickets and parking in lot 73 the day TBow was announced as coach. While the location is slightly less ostentatious than lot 9, we enjoy good food, red wine and cigars on a regular basis. Might I suggest road trips back and forth between the lots during the season?

Found this blurb on a linebacker/fullback visiting from Michigan Football recruiting game continues: Letchworth senior linebacker/fullback Clifton Bacon and Webster Schroeder senior Parrish McKnight said they plan to make recruiting visits before the end of this month. Letchworth's Clifton Bacon Bacon will visit Akron University, a Football Bowl Subdivision team that plays in the Mid-American Conference. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound 2011 Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester selection helped Letchworth win it first state title this past season

Forget the Vest, we got the Chest!

Beat me to it by 15 minutes Zach Let the jokes begin. Between Bowden and Amato, if this doesn't elevate the level of expectations, I don't know what will. Amato also likely brings recruiting ties that could help us in our last minute bid for a respectable class.

Count me as one.

Marla Ridenour on the Hiring of Terry Bowden
KentZip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football
Thanks for posting this. She is spot-on with her assessment IMO. -
After a year of "sitting it out" I just got off the phone with the ticket office. Renewed my season tickets in section 208 along with a parking lot reservation in Lot 73. It is frickin' great to be back!

Again.......... This required a new thread? C'mon Man...........................

Not sure at all. If we can attract him, he is my first choice. He got my vote in the poll.

Wayne State wins it.

Need to override that "must of" too. Ipad probably meant "must have".
