  1. If anything, it's the opposite of bad coaching. A lack of fundamentals was not what caused the concussions. Back in the day, when you and I were that age, the coaches would have just told the kid to suck it up and get back into the game. Our coaching staff was trained to recognize the symptoms and took the actions to make sure the kids got proper treatment. And just so you know, the bigger, faster, size matters thing applies in the 7th grade too.
  2. Several kids on my sons 7th grade team suffered concussions last season. I saw a story on the news the other night about a company that is developing a device that would alert the coach if a player took a hit that could cause a concussion. It was a small device that attached to the helmet and a red flashing light would go off if the hit was severe. That would alert the coach who could have the player examined before being allowed back into the game.
  3. Is he the son of head coach Jay Peters?
  4. After 7 years it's pretty obvious that KD doesn't run a system that relies on one "star" to win games. I think a big part of why Zeke chose UA was that he would not face the pressure of having to carry the team on his back. I think Zeke has progressed nicely in this system and we are winning. I don't understand the obsession with having to win a certain way, with certain players having to step up in order to win. So far KD's biggest problem seems to be keeping players #10 and 11 happy on a 9 deep roster.
  5. Notre Dame, IU, Purdue

  7. A very sad story. Congrats to the PD and the author for not turning it into an attack on UA. Same for the families of the players.
  8. Thanks for the compliment. Lifes much more enjoyable when you think that way.
  9. We won those games, didn't we? We found a way to win, didn't we? Quit being so caught up in how you think we should look and sit back and enjoy the ride. If the greatest golfer in the world hits one into the trees off the tee and then hits the next shot into the hole for an eagle 2, do you think we should focus on the bad tee shot or the great second shot? No matter which, it still goes on the scorecard as a 2. I prefer to look at the fact that in crunch time when it really matters, we took care of business.
  10. I like to see what the other MAC teams fans think about the Zips, so I go look at their message boards. It's pretty much been the same thing over and over this season after the Zips knock them off. Threads are started just like this one, Akron could go undefeated in the MAC next year . I don't care how we do it, I just want to win.
  11. I can't believe all the teeth gnashing and complaining about the fact that we are 9-1 and in sole possession of first place in the MAC. Seriously!
  12. Sorry, thats DIGs job.
  13. So who's your team? Auburn, Alabama, UF?
  14. This team plays as hard as they need to win. It reminds me of Omar Visquel and how he would only make a strong enough throw to first base to get the runner out. He seemed to be able to sense just how fast the runner was and would adjust his throw accordingly. I know its not the ideal way of doing things, but this team plays hard enough to get the job done when it counts. So I'm just going to shut and enjoy the view!
  15. Egner didn't dress for the game tonight.
  16. You do realize his wife is worth millions of $$$ on her own, right? Frank Watson
  17. A little birdie told me the last few practices have been pretty intense.
  18. Its not like KD isn't trying to get these guys to play up to their potential .I've seen Dambrot throw Diggs out of the gym at practice because he was so mad at him. You can only scream at somebody for so long, because eventually they just tune you out. Diggs has crazy talent and sometimes you have to accept the baggage that comes along with it.
  19. I think what he said is just what I would hope anyone who has a job feels about their job. I think he brings a lot to the table and UA should count their blessings that he chose to continue his career at UA. Why don't you just say that you don't like the fact the UA hired Tressel instead of all this dancing around the subject.
  20. The meaning of the number 14
  21. Don't let the door hit you in the #@$ on the way out.
  22. I've watched Pratt compete since he was in the 7th grade, mainly basketball because he didn't play football until his Jr year. At first I thought he might make it as a D-1 basketball player. That changed the minute I saw him play his first high school football game. It was looking like he was really a D-1 football player. He is very athletic and is not afraid to catch the ball over the middle and take some contact. He caught everything thrown to him and even though he got a lot of double coverage, he still managed to catch 39 passes for 800 yards and 8 touchdowns. I think the Zips got a good one.
  23. Coach Bowden is such a breath of fresh air. If you remember the last coach tried to run off every player from the previous regime.
  24. Needed more time for what? Its been clear for about 2 weeks that the Zips are the best team in the MAC.
