  1. It appears you can vote more than once> go get'em guys!
  2. Thankfully it appears that sanity has prevailed at Browns headquarters. Dilfer is a mediocre starter at best on a team going nowhere. Frye deserves a chance to prove himself before next season. :macc:
  3. Charlie got his first start today against J-ville. Halftime score: browns 14- Jac 3. Frye has 2 TD passes and his only incompletions were drops. Go #5!
  4. *******WARNING******* DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!
  5. I found it interesting that Novak mentioned the lack if conditioning for a possible reason that his defense didn't perform well at the end of the game. "Northern Illinois Notes NIU head coach Joe Novak: Opening statement: We certainly congratulate Akron. J.D. and their kids did a great job of hanging in there. We thought we had them down there a little bit, but they came back. The quarterback made some plays like he did against us the last time, and Hixon is definitely a go-to guy. I'm proud of our kids, I'm proud of the effort, we just came up a little bit short. On his team's pass rush: We blitzed there some, and we weren't really effective with that. Our front guys were really tired. I was concerned a little bit coming in, and this is no excuse, we're practicing outside and you get into a 72-degree atmosphere that you haven't been in a little while, and I was a concerned about our conditioning coming in. We talked about blitzing more and coming after them, but even when we blitzed we weren't real effective." It looks like the field housr is starting to pay dividends.
  6. I've been to a few domed stadiums and Ford field is the best one yet. Where I was sitting there was a nice breeze blowing and the site lines are good. It's not a college stadium for sure, but thats OK for special games like the MACC and bowl games.
  7. I'll be there also. If they offer a package similar to yesterday($119hotel/tic) I will opt for that. The hotel was really nice and the pregame party was good also.
  8. The Zips ticket office called me today with my hotel confirmation, so I asked them how ticket sales were going. They informed me that the entire 3000 seat allotment was completely sold out. They were advising people who called for tickets to contact the Ford field box office. They also me that NIU still had 2000 of their allotment unsold as of this afternoon.
  9. We had alot of open 8-10 footers last night that no one took. Over and over the Zips passed those up in an effort to get closer to the basket. If your open, SHOOT!
  10. They announced it at the BB game tonight also. Lets hope the ABJ makes some noise about this game.
  11. The Canton Repository has done a decent job of covering the Zips this year. I would say that it was better than the ABJ.
  12. I'll be there with 2 guests. Staying at the team hotel.
  13. BTW, Mike Hatch sat behind me today. Recalled one of the greatest plays in Zips history. He returned a punt on the last play of the game against W Illinois to the 5 yd line and just before he was tackled he heaved the ball over his backwards and a Zip snagged it and ran it in for the winning TD
  14. Probably the wost conditions ever for Zips game at the bowl today. Kudos to the fans who showed up, it was brutal
  15. I would say that its a close race between OU, Bgsu, Toledo, and Miami. Those four schools fans consider their programs to be "legacys". Its obvious to them that any loss to one of the "lesser" programs is always a fluke. Thats why it about killed them when Marshall came in and dominated in football. Its time for a new era in MAC sports. I saw Mike Thomas at the game today and thanked him for leaving the program in better shape than when he arrived
  16. It's official, tomorrows game against the Flushers means more than any game in the last 20 years. Not since another JD(Jim Denison) led us to the 1-AA playoffs has as much been on the line in a game we could actually win! I'll be there freezing my ass off and dreaming of Ford Field
  17. How about Gordon Larson's last game as head coach(73?). It was the last year before artificial turf was installed at the bowl. The Zips played the Quantico Marines in a blizzard that turned the game into a huge muddy and snowy mess. They kicked our butts up one side and down the other. After the game on the radio they announced that Larson was stepping down and that assistant coach Jim Dennison would succed him. Larson stayed on as AD for several years. I hope that the team is ready for the Flushes, I'm sure they'll have a new wrinkle or two for us.
  18. I hope you guys are right about Wood. My experience in dealing with 18-19 yr olds tells me that it might not happen. Its one thing to be delayed in your rehab by medical issues but that is not the case with Wood. He thought that he could just "play his way through it" and return to the court this year. I doubt that KD is making any future plans based on the return of JW. If he is willing to put in the work to return next season then thats great, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  19. I would bet that Wood never plays another game for the Zips.
  20. The "almost interception" was just an attempt by Frye to let his buddy Edwards make a play. If Edwards had been paying attention he might have come up with the catch. The real interception was definatley Edwards fault and he has said as much. The "wobbler" towards the sideline was the result of getting hit right as he released the ball. All three of those plays happened right in front of me at the stadium Sunday.
  21. The location change for the Pep band is a good move also. Putting them upstairs opens up more seating for students. Can't wait to see Charlie Coles have it out with the students.
  22. I would say there were no more than 4000 actual fans last night. But i think that isn't too bad considering the weather forecast and the weeknight game date. The weather couldn't have been nicer and it was the Zips most consistant performance to date. I hope we lay some big numbers on the Flushers
  23. I find it about as interesting/compelling as the Terrell Owens saga. *yawn* They make this Oddball clown out to be some sort of Che Guevara. It is a joke. That's all I will say regarding that topic. I agree CK about this Oddball character. All that goes on on that board is a bunch of endless flame wars and nonsense. About 25% of what is posted there is even worth looking at.
  24. I would look to Sallee or Sowers to backup Dru until Dials is ready to go. Dials is much further along on his rehab than Wood. If there are no setbacks he could be a big factor this season. Someone with a dependable 3-point shot would really help. Preston looks the same and Millum looks like he gained a few pounds. I think that Conyers is having transcript problems similar to what happen to Jason Taylor when he first enrolled. Hopefully this will be sorted out soon.
