Jeff Boals seems to be a candidate, and a year ago he was willing/ seeking HC opportunities that paid $258,000 +.... in the tri-state ($). There should be no shortage of capable applicants looking for a bump to $250,000 and an opportunity to get paid (somewhere else) further down the road if they are successful.

    $365,000

So this, IYHO, Hilltopper, rules out Boals and Paris?  Or were you simply referring to anyone on the current staff - Thomas, Wiegand, Mcfadden?

The current staff. There is no upside for Boals to come. He just has to keep winning where he is and the next big job will find him. I don't see Paris as head coach material. Great recruiter though.

Hell yes I'd sign that. But I don't think its completely an apples to apples comparison. If we were to make a majority of MAC championships and lose most of them, well at least we would have the bowl game to look forward too, which is as good of a prize as you are going to get with the way college football is currently set up, which is unfortunate. In basketball, there are 68 teams who get a shot to play for the championship in this super popular tournament. And if you aren't one of those 68 teams then nobody outside of 1/4th of your fan base cares about how do you in a tournament that means nothing. It also doesn't help when as great of a regular season run as we had the past 11 seasons, we have accumulated a total of 3 post season wins, especially when we couldn't even capitalize against crappy competiton (IPFW anyone).

The FBS system is a joke. Most of the bowl games are a joke. Nothing but filler for tv sports networks. Nobody watches and outside of a few of the traditional bowls nobody goes. Nothing like a matchup of two teams with 7-6 records to create exciting tv. All you have to do is look at that huge boost in attendance that we got after winning the tater bowl!

Are those Suites at the mid-level on the sides?  If so, it seems perfect.  And folks...this is a SUN BELT arena.  And I've personally been in another Sun Belt arena, and it's much larger and nicer than ours as well.

The only suite is at that level on the other side of the arena that houses the donors. I wish this board didn't have restrictions on how many photos you can post. I have a bunch more.

I'm more than happy to see some seating surrendered at the JAR to improve the facility.  Other than the Kent game, they don't fill the seats they have and an improvement to the facility may result in a jump in attendance but it would be short lived.  My design strategy would be that no seat should be at a distance greater than a male cheerleader can throw a Gionino's t-shirt or a Taylor Made Jewelry mini-basketball.

Based on some of the male cheerleaders we had this season, that would be about 10 feet.

I think it's roughly a 4-hour drive, but I'm hoping some of the Houston players' families can make the trip to Arlington. If work wasn't so crazy for me right now, I might have looked into going. CLE-DFW on American is a relatively easy trip. Probably expensive at last minute, though.

I found a flight on American AA from CAK for $500 round trip. United and Southwest wanted $1000.

Was that the lady in the red sweater?  She was on her feet a lot during the game.  Too bad no one else in the crowd was into it enough to stand up and cheer.

Believe it or not, the cameras did not show everything that happened in the stands. The Zips fans were very much into the game. I would guess that we stood for the entire last 4 minutes of the game. All the parents and friends of the kids from the Houston area were very vocal and supportive.

We made it, but as what has become the norm in the media, there is a negative bias spin put on that article when mentioning ZipsNation.

Aside from the 1 or 2 people posting on here who do actually want KD fired, the rest of us are simply critiquing Dambrot's system. This is more of an evaluation of his tenure, where we have been, where we are, and the direction in which we want this program to head. I don't see a single thing wrong with that. Mid-Majors are the "Welcome Mats" for the P5 teams. I think I can speak for everyone when I say, our apologies for wanting to take the next step and not be a Welcome mat anymore.

Maybe EA can use his Cleveland.com fame and write a more powerful article that rips big schools for not playing solid Mid-Majors. After all, that is what Dambrot says is the main reason for not playing some of these bigger schools, and if EA is defending Dambrot and criticizing his criticizers, he should be trying to affect change to help Dambrot.

Not sure if any of you saw this or the result.

Read the comments section for that ESPN article. Most of the fans from the P-5 schools say f-you to the mid-majors, we don't owe you a game.

Pretty much agree with this spot on. I like Dambrot and all that he brings, but I want more and I believe he does as well and at some point some changes need to be made. Back when Dambrot was first turning the program around, we lost Boals and Shaka to better opportunities.I may even be missing someone. That is a sign of having good assistants. When is the last time that has happened? I sense complacency with them.

I liked playing Creighton and Gonzaga this year, but outside of that the OOC was incredibly weak. That should be looked at. As I said in the Kent thread. Give me Kent's lackluster regular season every year if it comes with playing better teams and making it to the dance.

Maybe a philosophy change needs made. Some have said we missed out on Willie Jackson for the second time because he wants to be a focal point and Dambrot likes a balanced team. Nothing about this team was balanced this season. Big Dog was the focal point. Adjust your philosophy to bring in better talent. I'm also disappointed on losing Graves to Buffalo. Jimmys and Joes are worth more than X's and O's.

We didn't lose Jackson because of our style of play. Or because we didn't tell him he could be a focal point. There were other factors that we couldn't match that had nothing to do with basketball.

We should be all over Pete like I'm sure we were all over Jayvon Graves. Riiiiiight? ?

It's one thing if we lose out on Pete to Florida.

But losing out on Jayvon to Buffalo?

    :puke:

Let's go KD, show them recruiting chops & sign Pete.

You think we didn't offer Graves? It's up to the recruit to announce who offered, the schools can't say a word about who they offer.

    Great examples.

I know that I never quite know what to do with that extra $50k, what with interest rates being so low. :P

Formulas make sense, but where in the various rules, formulas and examples does it state that a Z Fund member can order 20 tickets?

That's my objection, my only objection to this system. The basis of allocation is fine, but why are there no limits on quantity?

I don't know of anybody who got 20 tickets. I'm pretty sure there is a limit. I do know of one person who buys 9 season tickets.
