  1. Miami uses a "U". It's iconic. BG uses a logo that incorporates their Falcon. OU incorporates their Bobcat. Do the Akron Rubber Ducks use an "A"? The Zips use Arby's, and a Crayola. But Fordham was mesmerized by it, so who am I to say?
  2. In this instance it isn't hijacking a Zips-related thread with osu talk. It's under the "World of College Football" thread. So it is fine.
  3. It appears even Zippy is on Ozempic?
  4. After Tyrrell’s 25 point loss to Avon, I’m guessing it’s Eddie George’s job for the taking?
  5. Meistradamus? Only time will tell…
  6. Doesn’t seem like there is a way to do anything with unused/old tickets. The QR codes are ghosted out.
  7. Anyone know if you can use unused 2024 game tickets for other home games? I will need another ticket for tonight and didn't use my October EMU tickets. I know they used to offer something like this with season tickets, but until now I never really had a use for it.
  8. In this day and age there is no continuity. Pretty much every season is a rebuild. An A-10 program is a daunting first head coaching gig. It isn’t Faust to Notre Dame, but it’s close. Hope he rights the ship. He’s only 5 games in.
  9. Alabama State beats Lamar tonight 77-75. At home, the Zips should beat ASU tomorrow. No excuses.
  10. To ensure good attendance at both games I think they need to play the Zips game at 4pm, then at halftime play the first half of the second game. After halftime, finish game #1. Then finish game #2. For non-Akron games the UA cheerleaders and band need to split up and support the other teams evenly. Ater the games are over, hold a ceremony to hang a golden microphone for Steve French in the rafters. I’d stick around for that.
  11. Guthrie loyalists made a statement tonight. Fans boycotted the game #2. Workers boycotted the concessions. If he were still on campus, things would be different.
  12. How will dropping a level in football do anything but ruin our other sports? If we’re out of the MAC, good luck to Groce recruiting any talent whatsoever to his Horizon League program. Dropping to FCS = Youngstown State = Cleveland State Is that what you want for Akron?
  13. You knew when the referee’s made Gray change his headband before the game because it was non regulation that there would be a ton of fouls called.
  14. I saw Indian School got pounded by a named program a week or so ago (can’t remember who). It was 48-4 when it came across the ticker.
  15. There was no chance of it ever happening. The MWC tossed out a hook with no bait and hoped they might get lucky and snag a bluegill. Didn't work.
  16. Damn...and it was your best thread of the year?!
  17. They were invited, but I don’t think they ever seriously considered leaving the MAC. If they did leave, there’s no way the MAC would allow their non-football sports to remain in the MAC.
  18. I hear this basketball season Kent changed their mascot’s name to Intentional Fowl. Julius Robbins’ idea.
  19. $35,000 Taking this in a slightly different direction - when Konata Mumpfield ditched the Zips for Pitt, he flat-out gave up the last couple games. His body language and effort screamed that he was headed out the door. By comparison, Norton is balling-out. He's had zero drop in production or effort over the last few games. That gives me a little hope that he might stick around if Joe was here in 2025 (which I believe he will be). If he does leave, I'd have good feelings towards him because he gave us his best on game days despite the dearth of Zips "W's".
  20. Even in their bad years...of which there have been many...they've always had an Edelman, Cribbs, Harrison, Davis...some player that stood out as pretty good. Not this year.
  21. ...who quit in the 3rd quarter. Seriously...who lets 39 seconds run off the clock in a rivalry game, at home, to get to the 4th quarter? They hit on 2 deep balls in the game. Why not throw it deep and try? We came back with 21 unanswered in the 4th quarter last year to win.
  22. Don't try to sneak a grill in either...there's only going to be 38 cars in the Dix lot, so you'll easily be spotted! My favorite Kent tailgate story - Probably 20 years ago they decided to enforce an open container policy at their Homecoming game. They ticketed every alum and fan they identified with an open beer. $75 fine. I doubt any of them have been to another game since (a couple worked with me). Much worse that only having the Zips team shop open 1/2 hour before kickoff on Homecoming.
