They were invited, but I don’t think they ever seriously considered leaving the MAC. If they did leave, there’s no way the MAC would allow their non-football sports to remain in the MAC.

Things we call Kent State Golden Flashes...
Captain Kangaroo replied to UA1996MAENG's topic in Akron Zips Football
I hear this basketball season Kent changed their mascot’s name to Intentional Fowl. Julius Robbins’ idea. -
$35,000 Taking this in a slightly different direction - when Konata Mumpfield ditched the Zips for Pitt, he flat-out gave up the last couple games. His body language and effort screamed that he was headed out the door. By comparison, Norton is balling-out. He's had zero drop in production or effort over the last few games. That gives me a little hope that he might stick around if Joe was here in 2025 (which I believe he will be). If he does leave, I'd have good feelings towards him because he gave us his best on game days despite the dearth of Zips "W's".

Don't try to sneak a grill in either...there's only going to be 38 cars in the Dix lot, so you'll easily be spotted! My favorite Kent tailgate story - Probably 20 years ago they decided to enforce an open container policy at their Homecoming game. They ticketed every alum and fan they identified with an open beer. $75 fine. I doubt any of them have been to another game since (a couple worked with me). Much worse that only having the Zips team shop open 1/2 hour before kickoff on Homecoming.

Yay…a figurehead AD…with no AD experience whatsoever…to run our D1 Athletic Department. No way this could be true.

Kent has a law school?

Not only was he interviewing for a job on Akron's company time, he was apparently working on the rebranding of the Fordham logo while still employed at UA? Someone in the Athletic Department found these renderings when they were cleaning out his desk. -
3 points in 19 minutes. A -18 in the box score. All Pacer starters had a double digit, negative +/-.

If you’ve see that grainy footage of Bigfoot walking past the log, looking over his shoulder, you have an idea of the picture quality you missed.

53 passes in a sub 40 degrees monsoon baffles me too. And the sea of 12 men on the field penalties is inexcusable. Maybe you’re right…the oc and hc responsibility load may be the root of our week-in-week-out incredibly poor attention to detail. I like Joe and want him to succeed. But who can put up with only 1, 2 or 3 wins every season for 6 consecutive years?

Game 10 (Week 12) at NIU - 7pm EST (TV - CBSSN)
Captain Kangaroo replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
In defense of Finley- it is miserable outside in NE Ohio right now. A 39 degree pouring rain. It is really tough to throw or catch a football in these conditions…conditions that were in Illinois about 13 hours ago. In reasonable weather he’s shown a strong arm and good accuracy. He’s also shown that he can throw too high a volume of inexplicable INT’s. He’s way better than Undercuffler, but after nearly a 4 year career sampling, probably grades-out as a slightly-above-average MAC QB. -

I think you’re missing 58 other game minutes. -

How many losses can one severely depleted fan base take? The Zips ain’t no fun to follow. Bad football. -

Can the Zips play clean game, and not simply hand it to NIU on a silver platter with fumbles, INT’s and bonehead penalties galore? If do, they can win. Some of the Zips players have obviously spent a ton of time choreographing various celebration dances and pantomimes. It’d be a shame if the couldn’t use them. -

Reminds me of when I used to play basketball with my son in the driveway and I was a foot and a half taller than him.
