  1. MD Zip -- That's just worng.
  2. We're a McClanahan Miracle away from having a bad loss to YSU. Buffalo always plays us tough in their house. Right now I worry about them more than [K.e.n.t. - Guyton].
  3. Just basketball? I would say J Ball was a real athlete, he did things on the court I haven't seen since he left. If we extend it to football, D Smith. I have yet to see anybody dominate a game like he did at Ken+. Marcel Boyce...Anthony Buford...Jason Taylor...Eric McLaughlin...Joe Jakubik...Christie Smith...Bill Turner...I'm sure I'm missing about 30 others. Let's not hoist any jersey's to the rafters just yet...a short-handed Oral Roberts abused us in the paint last night. Zeke is 0-2 vs. K.e.n.t. A nice 1st pull (of the requisite 20) on the rafter hoist would be to key the start of a multi-game win streak vs. the F.lashes on Saturday.
  4. When was the last time the Zips brought any sort of intensity to a K.e.n.t game? K.e.n.t has intimidated us big-time over the past 2 seasons.
  5. Serious question -- Will this exodous hurt the Zips program with regard to graduation rates? Does the NCAA nail UA because kids aren't graduating...even though they are turning pro?
  6. The worst Zips teams beat K.e.n.t 8 out of 10 football seasons.Pretty much any of the top 100 D-1A...and Top 50 1-AA programs can beat K.e.n.t's football team 5 consecutive times. It isn't that big an accomplishment. Beating Ohio State in football is a historic event. Silencing 105,000 people is a lot more impressive than silencing 10,500 K.e.n.t fans. There's no decision to be made - You take a shock the world win over Ohio State any day of the week. Would an Appalacian State fan trade their win against Michigan for anything? No. Would I trade 5 K.e.n.t basketball wins for one over Ohio State? I probably wouldn't. Beating K.e.n.t 5 consecutive times is just as difficult as beating Ohio State once. Plus the bragging rights carry more weight...it would kill K.e.n.t Fan to lose to Akron 5-in-a-row. K.e.n.t Fan doesn't care about football.
  7. 0-2. Left nut remains intact. Zips played a nice tourney. 2-1 is what was to be expected. However, this team needs McNees to wake up. He's going to get his 30 minutes per game the remainder of the season, and take his 6-12 shots per game. If he has a 20% 3-point percentage at year's end, we're looking at another CBI bid. The Zips have a lot of work to do between now and the K.e.n.t. game. We've played terrible at home. And K.e.n.t. is the type of team that gives us the most trouble...yes...the dreaded "athletic" team. At work I bet a lunch with two guys...K.e.n.t. Fan and NIU Fan...on every Zips vs. <K.e.n.t. or NIU> basketball and football game. I took a lunch time beating in 2010. It has to change in 2011. I hope Brett McKnight gets his team ready for the K.e.n.t. game. K.e.n.t's waxed us the past 2 years. It has to stop on January 8th.
  8. It would be an amazing effort to beat a Big East team when we are playing Miami(FL) out of the ACC. You ruined it...now Zipmeister won't have anything to post today!
  9. Can the Zips muster the effort and focus necessary to beat a Big East team? Can they avoid the dreaded 8-minute scoring drought? Those are the two Keys to the Game: 1.) Have a swagger to compete, and don't play timid 2.) Avoid "Dry Pouch" Stealing a line from GoZips.com: "Only 3 hours and 45minutes until kick-off!!"
  10. Always good to see the Zips win in the manner they should win.
  11. Doesn't this thread belong in the Soccer Forum?
  12. Siena beats Georgia Tech. Even though Siena has had their share of recent left-nutters, I still givin' 'em one here.
  13. You can also see that CSU backed off their Miami-esque Murder's Row schedule policy and reeled off 12-straight to begin this year. Our schedule had been too soft in the past. It is ok now. If we really feel Zeke and Gilliam and Harney and Walsh and Treadwell + all these other guys are going to be something special, I hope we kick our scheduling up a notch next season too.
  14. Who will Thunder Dan be rooting for in this match up? And who knew he was @ Alabama? *Roll Tide* (that ESPN commercial cracks me up for some reason)
  15. Presbyterian knocks off Wake Forest. Look for ESPN to steal my line and start calling these upsets "Left Nut Wins" very soon. Note - I would NOT give my left nut to beat Penn State in basketball, like Maine did tonight.
  16. Just out of curiosity...has a player ever backed out of a verbal? Said he was going to play for one school, then dumped them on signing day for another school? Bet is never has happened. If this kid is any good, and has no troubles with grades or the police, Ianello did him a big favor by pulling the plug in mid-December. He has PLENTY of time to latch-on elsewhere.
  17. It is bad to pull a scholly after a verbal is issued. That can hurt recruiting in the future. It could be that the kid did something that merited pulling the scholarship? Since it happened at the end of the semester, poor grades are a strong possibility. Over the past few years I know of several recruits (various sports) that were dropped because their fall HS grades dipped below UA's requirements. For an Eric Howard, you might make an exception. For a 5' 10" LB, you wish him well and move on.
  18. I agree. You just described almost every MAC school. Unfortunately, we are in somewhat of the same position Can't is in. The trouble with Akron is gaining that one winning season as well, and not a 6-6 record. Akron is in a good postion to turn things around if they could just turn a bunch of guys who don't believe they can win into a group of guys who believe they can win. There's a lot more to that, but in general, there is more up-side at Akron than any other floundering MAC school. I wonder if JD wishes he had left after his 2nd year. Probably not. He got paid $250k to sit on his couch and be "Mr. Mom" for 12 months last year. Now he's got a $300k+/yr job back in his home state coaching college football.
  19. 1-12 If that's "good," what's "great?" 4-16? No use arguing with some of these guys Cap'n. The way they see it Steve is the "Shooting" Guard and therefore he should lead the team in shots. You simply can't let facts about how many of his shots come from behind the arch or how he is an extremely streaky shooter get in the way of blindly breaking down shot attempts based on what position a player plays. Can we now say 1-11 was a "good" football season?
  20. 1-12 If that's "good," what's "great?" 4-16?
  21. I agree. It is easy to hit those shots in practice...but not in the flow of a game. He's always been a streaky shooter. We just need to ride this streak out until he turns it around. Can I predict he'll make at least 5 threes when we play Miami Fl? Who's giving me odds?
  22. If this kid plays against UA, and the AK-Rowdies do not jingle their car keys along with me whenever he touches the ball, I will cry. Don't make me cry, Rowdies! I want to hear hundreds of jingling key chains!
  23. This game played-out as it did because McNees couldn't throw it in the hoop if he he was sitting on Zeke's back, in the paint. It is nice to have Brett back. Decent scorer, senior who's been on all the bus trips to the far-reaches of Michigan and Indiana, etc. No doubt he's a nice, "mid-season acquisition." But unless he drank some of Conyers' Patented Radioactive Senior Elixir, he is what he is.
